The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

I feel I have to vent! Fuji promised delivery of my X10 by 2pm. Why do delivery companies always deliver in the last 30mins of a time slot? Seriously why not deliver exciting parcels early? Come on, I want my new camera!

Quick update! It has arrived and I love it (much smaller than my 40D+Grip!) Cant tell its a refurb apart from the box was slightly ripped! Og and it appears I have 2 genuine fuji batteries - one in the camera and one in the box! Result! Just upgrading firmware then will read manual... See you all in a few days :)

Congrats on your X10. May it bring you much enjoyment.

Remember the pictures ;)

I took the X10 with me on a little North Wales road trip last Saturday and whilst the 5DMKII did the bulk of the work, I still had time for a few shots...

This is the 'famous' tree on the banks of Llyn Padarn in Llanberis. :)

It was shot in RAW and converted in Photoshop with just a few tweaks to the levels, curves and fill light.

Mine's a refurb to, only thing is it arrived with other 4000 actuations on it! That's more than my LX3 had in two and a half years!

That's a great picture Si.

I'm definitely going to have a look at this camera when I'm out later this week. Last time I investigated some compacts it wasn't out yet.

had a wander down the beach of borth on west Wales coast earlier with the Fuji X10

A trip to the Tanfield railway with my X10

They look excellent!

Just checked my shutter count and its 6480. These figures seem high for quite a new model don't you think?

Edit!

It would appear this is not the camera shutter count but the memory card according to some digging on interweb (I recently swopped a cf card for my SDHC) so that might be it

Indeed, the numbers indicate current picture number (on the memory card in use) - total number of pictures storable on the memory card. But it depends on whether you're in record mode or in playback/view mode.

Switch between Raw and Jpg and you'll see the total number storable change (because the file size of each photo changes), but the current count stays the same.

BTW, I'm not sure I understand your remark about swapping a CF card for an SDHC card; the X10 doesn't take any CF cards. Or am I on the wrong road here?

@robenroute sorry for confusion I swooped a CF card of mine for a SD card with someone else.....

Can any of you X10 owners tell me your opinion on the movie facility on the camera. I would only be taking short scenes of a minute or two but want to compare it to my other option of the Canon S100.

I read somewhere that it was debatable whether the camera took full resolution images at the Camera Raw setting, more like 6mp apparently, is this true? I'm only concerned if I wished to do an enlargement.

@finn77: i filmed a little bit, when i was in thailand. I was surprised, that the AF was working well.

The quality: it does no look great (only ok )on my PC Monitor but it looks great on my 42 Zoll Plasma. The sound is also good, but unfortunately there is no wind filter.

one big disadvantage is that nearly nothing is adjustable axcept resolution, speed and filmsimulation (BW, Velvia etc.)

it works also quite fine, when its dark, but you should not expect a Panasonic GH2 :)

i also have an s95 and the filmquality is quite equal in my eyes.....dispite, that the s95 cannot fot focus during the filming. on the other hand the s95 hase a good noise/wind filter.

RAW is 12Mp.
It is only 6Mp if you use the fancy EXR stuff.
You also get exceptional (for a small camera) recovery from the highlights and shadows. Can't remember the figures, but I worked them out and posted them earlier in this thread.
I've now stopped taking JPEGs - RAW all the time except for Panoramas....
With Panoramas there is an option for keeping the original images which I've not played with so no idea if that might keep the RAW too......

Damn mines arrived but I'm at work
At least the battery is charging

yes charged all the batteries, updated the firmware and had a little play about but only indoors
seems a nice quality bit of kit

I'm still loving this camera!

The quality of this shot is astounding. It looks like you've use a wide angle lens but I'm assuming you havn't.

I don't think I can hold out much longer

Oh dear - Just as I break the discount voucher P10FEB15 no longer works :-(

Anyone else have a newer one?

Just tried it and still working for me. Are you sure you didn't put in a space where it wasn't wanted?

So here's my new X10 Once I have figured out the menu system I will get some shots up too! I took it out today for a walk and flicked between EXR mode and a couple of custom settings I had put in but still getting there :)

Nice..where did you get the soft release?..fancy one of those for my x100

I got it from Peter Walnes here in the UK, super quick delivery too! He sent me an email at about 01:00 in the morning. Good personal service - will look to him for any other stuff I buy too!

Anyway here is my first shot in Super Macro mode (and its just rekindled my interest in macro - big time!). Shot in AV using super macro f3.6. Can anyone answer me a question though? When I upload it from memory card it says it was shot at 7.1mm (how is that possible?!?)
