The Official Fuji X Pro 1 Thread

I think I'll leave the leather case, never use a carry case for my 5D so not going to start now, have ordered a thumb grip though to add more ergonomic feel to the camera without adding bulk or obstructing the battery door.
See if you can get a used Gariz half-case. They give some protection against knocks and you can get at all holes.

Bah, given in, cba to wait. Bought one.

Now...does anyone know the write speed on the camera? I know it takes SDHC memory card / SDXC (UHS-I) but that doesn't really say or mean anything in terms of actual speed.

On the X-Pro1 I wouldn't sweat the write speed. A card doing 45mbs plus is plenty good enough. You don't buy a Pro1 for video or fast motor drive!

Arrived !

The XPro1 (and XPro2) do look fabulous with those new generation f2 lenses. Very businesslike

How quick is the AF with those lenses?
Depends on your definition of "quick". The Pro1 does not do "quick". The Pro2 does. However, for my uses - landscapes - it's more than adequate.

There's a lot of it about (people rebuying the X-Pro1). Nice strap. How do you find the Lensturbo? What fitting is it?

I got the Lens Turbo in the EOS mount to allow the biggest compatibilty. It's a handy adapter to have as well as "normal" adapters as it pretty much doubles my manual lens collection.
Being able to use legacy glass for wider shots was my main reason for getting it but it's also very handy for the extra light, hand held shooting gets easier with the faster shutter speeds it gives.

Not sure how much difference it will make to the quality of shots with the manual glass but all the lenses I have are cheapies anyway so I'm unlikely to notice much difference.

I'm hoping using the X-Pro1 with the older lenses will get me out of the habit of pixel peeping. If it does I should maybe reign back on the amount of technically excellent lenses I have and concentrate more on making images.

My semi-retro kit is coming together, this 4 lens 3 adapter set gives me the rough equivalents of 13mm, 19mm, 28mm, 38mm, 58mm, 90mm & 135mm in Fuji terms. Maybe not quite the same resolution and sharpness of the Fuji lenses but fun.

Back in the X-Pro1 club again today (for the 4th or 5th time)
Bodywork not quite up to the standard of @Raymond Lin 's purchase but will do the job for me.

How are you finding it for use with MF lenses? I wanted to use mine for that purpose but find the XT-1 is actually much better for it, so using the pro1 mostly with the 35 1.4. I see you have a Helios, I have the 44-2 version :)

Having the split view on the X-T1 or X-T2 is nice but I'm quite happy with the way the X-Pro1 works. Quick turn on the focus ring to get roughly there, then a press on the control wheel to magnify for fine tuning (two options available for magnify by turning the wheel) Focus peaking set on low. As to how accurate and consistent I am with the focus, time will tell,

I never use the split focus, it actually puts me off :D I just use standard focus by eye. I just find the Xpro1 gives a more ... 'juttery' view, especially when zoom focusing. Just something I need to get used to perhaps. I had been using the XT-1 for MF lenses before I got the pro1, it might be just that. The shakiness or jutteriness is more obvious when using longer MF lenses. I have a Takumar 200 F4, and on the T1 it almost feels stabilized towards the pro1. But I'm experimenting with both ongoing

Might have a few samples with that combo, just opening them up in LR atm, shots from the last few days.

How do you do focus peaking in the X-Pro 1? in both OVF and EVF?

No focus peaking on OVF as it's not through the lens, but if you have manual focus set you can press the rear control wheel which will switch to EVF and zoom in to allow manual focus. If focus peaking is not switched on you can switch it on by holding in the control wheel for a couple of seconds while in MF.

The dial is a button !!!

Took me 5 mins to wonder where i was going wrong.

Do you have Highlights switch on?

Yes, I usually use Peak low setting as the high can sometimes get distracting. One of the hardest parts to get used to when using peaking is that as soon as you half press the shutter it looks like focus has gone because it appears much softer.

This is why I prefer to just trust my eye. I had used MF lenses through the years on Nikon, so my eyes have been trained in somewhat. If my shots aren't in good focus manually, it's usually because either something moved, or I did, during the exposure

One thing I do continue to forget to do though, is change the non cpu lens data after using different MF lenses, bit of an OCD thing that when the exif on Flickr is wrong :D

Speaking of Flickr, it appears to be broken for me atm

Yep, most of my manual lens shots are recorded as 58mm as the Helios M44 is my most used lens, Also wish there was an easier way to keep track of aperture settings than a pen and paper.

Yes Ray, I had the same back when I HAD MY XP1, depending on size of lenses being used you maybe able to get more than 3 in!

I have my 23 and 35. I think the Mitakon 35 may be next? Unless they do the 50 in X-mount.

Easily I would say, I used to have the 23 1.4, 56 1.2 and 10-24 in that bag and cloths, batteries etc. Both your lenses are vastly smaller than any of those!

Thanks Stephen, the beauty of the lens is that at f8 no focusing was required.
So to recap, if I got a LensTurbo in FujiX to EOS, I would need an adapter to EOS for my legacy lenses to use them on the LT?

Yes, the reason to get the Fuji X to EOS LTII is that it allows a lot more lenses to be mounted via cheap *anylens* to EOS adapters. Whereas getting a Fuji X to M42 LTII limits you to M42 lenses.

ETA: Obviously not all lenses can be adapted to EOS fitting, so if your legacy lenses are Minolta MD or Canon FD then it won't work. (FD maybe would but you would have another bigger adapter with more glass)

Some nice shots appearing in this thread. Never liked the X-Pro body. Always seemed massive but the colours really pop. I prefer the first X-Trans sensor over the other versions.

BTW @Cagey75 i think your Sparrow is a female Chaffinch. Nice shots too!
