The Official Fuji X Pro 1 Thread

Thinking of rejoining the x-pro1 gang. It's been a long time since I last had one. Bit annoyed with myself for not getting the two lens kit when they were still available. Selling the lenses ( as I already have them) would have made it a bargain.

EDIT: I've placed a wanted ad on the forum. So if anyone is thinking of moving one on, let me know.
Have you checked the Fuji Re-Furb store for a XP1 Colin ?

I have the xpro 1 kit with the 18mm and 27mm.
I have just picked up the ex20 flash.
I am thinking of getting the 35mm 1.4

Thanks to @Doormat I'll be in possession of another X-Pro1 by the weekend. One of my X-T1's has been sold along with my X100T (again!) so funding is in place if I want to order the X-Pro2. Would love to say I have the patience to wait for price drops but I'm not sure I have the willpower.

I prefer the body style of the X-Pro but it doesn't come close to the feature set on the X-T. I'll be selling my other X-T1 soon and will either pre-order the X-Pro2 or get an X-E2 to tide me over until prices drop.

I like both X-T1 and X-Pro1 but shoot the 1 for fun really. I'll never sell it mind, I may buy the X-Pro2 in time if it's as good as the early reviews indicate but the X-Pro1 stays. Period.

Help needed!

I am new to Fuji, I usually shoot RAW only with my Nikon D7000. Today I have been shooting RAW + JPEG with my x-pro 1. I have been shooting with the in camera JPG edits so I want to import these into lightroom and also have the RAW files to see a comparison of the edits.
I can only import the RAW file, it wont let me even see the JPG files when I search through lightroom. I have deselected the 'Don't import suspected duplicates' box and still can't import the JPG's.

It would appear that when lightroom see's the JPG's it is giving them a .RAF file type.

How can I get around this? I've never had a problem like this before, It won't even let me drag and drop from explorer into lightroom as it says its already imported!

I have done it before, I think that I ended up putting all the JPGs into a separate folder, and imported

Sorry in advance for my bad english, but you can choose the preference to have .jpeg- and .raw-files handled as separate files while importing them.

Thanks, I'm confused again now but for another reason.

When viewing the EXIF info on the JPG files, it lists them as 72dpi, this seems a bit strange to me. Shouldn't that be more like 240-300?
When viewing the EXIF info on the RAF files, its lists them as 1920 x 1280 pixels. Thats only 2.5 MegaPixels?!

Whats going on there then? Camera is set to Raw and fine.

In Lightroom

Edit / Preferences / General / Import Options / 'Treat JPEG files next to raw files as seperate photos.

hope this helps

Hi, how do you find the AF speed and accuracy of XPro1 compared to the XE1? Thanks

They're both very similar as the XE-1 is essentially a stripped down X-Pro1 with a slightly better EVF, I can categorically say that I've shot everything from still life through portraits to wildlife & even birds in flight and the AF speed or locking has NEVER been an issue, I've NEVER missed a shot due to any other reason than my own human mistakes.

Got an email from Fuji today telling me to "Get more from your X-Pro1 with the latest firmware update from Fujifilm"
So, rushed to the site thinking what the latest update could bring.
Turns out they are pushing the 3.40 update, which is quite old now, mine has been on 3.50 for a while now!

Back in the club! X-Pro arrived this morning. I've been too scared to take it out today though for fear of it blowing away. So had to try it indoors, here is the first jpeg from camera.

Nice image that. Did you shine a lamp on him

Really like that. We are going away for a few days in Amsterdam so going to try it out there

Thank you for the information you have given. The price of X-Pro1 nowadays are tempting, but I'm still debating to get it or not.

Well, I've decided to join the club! I'm very interested in the Fuji systems but didn't want to just sell everything up before splashing out on the new X Pro 2 so I grabbed one of the X Pro 1s with the 35mm F1,4 (both ex display with a shutter count of under 1k as a result) for a shade over £500 delivered.

All I can say is that I am so far very pleased with the handling of the camera and its old school back to basics control with the dials and very easy to use settings menu system.

It's currently sat along side my Canon 7D and my Olympus E-M5 and as we speak I am having a think about which system I should get rid of so that I can run two side by side.

The build quality of all three systems is sublime with the general feel of the body quality currently sitting with the Olympus (just) although I know full well its no where near as hardy as my Canon lump hammer.

The lens is also very very well made and heaps better quality than the Olympus 12-50mm although the 17mm and 12mm Olympus are easily on par. The canon L glass as you may well know is certainly substantial and well built but seems to lack the finesse of the Fuji and Olympus Primes which given the price of the L glass is currently pushing me to perhaps move out the canon kit. The only problem I then have is that the Olympus and Fuji kit is so similar that Id probably feel like I was missing something especially when it comes to out right speed which the 7D has heaps of.

Anyway, as soon as I have a bright and well lit day I think I shall be off out with the Fuji to see what it can do.

I'd probably consider an XP1 again for something to chuck in my bag daily and let me see if I'd get on with the rangefinder style before committing to the XP2 (especially as it looks like late March for that one now), not seeing a lot of used ones around though which makes a used XT1 not a huge amount dearer (than a new XP1)....

Mmm been looking at this thread along with the xe2 one..Tough choice and cannot decide wether to get one or the other.Any pros or cons to either?..I was going to go body only then get the 56mm 1.2 and new ish 35mm f2...Any thoughts or other suggestions welcomed.

Xe2 for significantly better AF and EVF. X-Pro1 for better build quality, bigger body size (the 56 is not a small lens!) and the OVF

Xt1 for the best of both worlds (minus the OVF)

Thanks Adam its a tough choice even considered the xt10 but prefer the style of xpro/xe2. Tried to look on fuji refurb store but site is still down.Cant find too many deals on either at the mo but fuji do tend to have some decent package deals occasionally.Wondering if the xe2 will receive any more discount in price due to the xe2 s coming out?

Iv'e been trying to get on to the fuji store for a couple of weeks now and through lack of luck got bored . As such I just hit ebay where I got lucky on a mint body for £250 ex display. There's a section to email them and I can say that after 9 days or so I still haven't had a reply. This doesn't bother me now but has put me off buying new in the future given their inability to respond to any kind of query within an acceptable time frame. Its the small things that matter and any questions I have ever had for Canon or Olympus have been answered swiftly and satisfactory so my only issue with the brand at the minute is that lack of communication as it could prove to be a worry given the right circumstances.

Just been looking on mpb and they have an xe2 and a 35mm 1.4 and 2 56mm 1.2..someone did suggest I went for the 60mm 2.4 instead of the 56mm but had heard it was a fairly slow focusing lens?

Well FWIW... I recently (15 days ago iirc) lost the flash sync cover from my Pro1, and I couldn't find anyone selling one (the XT1 one is different)

So I dropped Fuji UK an email on the same day which was a Thurs. Hearing nothing back and being impatient, I visited my local second hand film camera store and they gave me one from a canon ae1 slr (foc) which pleased me!

The following Tuesday (might of been Monday actually) Fuji got back to me asking, what's my address, they'd send one out to me foc, which arrived the next day

So yes, it is the little things, and that pleased me.

I've no clue why they haven't got back to you tho... FYI the online store is closed until the 15/2

In low light, and on a XP1 the 60 is positively glacial, I'm talking seconds here, not hundredth seconds, but full on seconds

On my XT1 it's quite a lot more spirited! (If it's in the PDAF part of the sensor)

In good light, the 60 is really not terrible on the xp1

Although apparently better (I've never owned it) the 56 is NOT renowned as a fast focusing lens... (But better than the 60)

The XF60 is very sharp though and offers 1:2 macro, which can be handy, also (according to Fujivsfuji iirc) the 60 goes to a higher aperture before diffraction sets in, I seem to recall F11 vs F8 (on the 56), but of course the 60 doesn't open up to 1.2

I'm a bit of a shallow DOF junkie... And have pondered the 56 many (many) times but as a 60 owner, it's been hard to justify, and FWIW I'm more of a wide shooter (xf18 and by far xf35 being my used XF lenses. Obv YMMV) there's a rumour of a 35 F1.0 that I'm excited by...

The trouble with answering questions about AF is it's fairly objective and subject dependant, one persons 'not bad' is another persons intolerable!

Going back to your original question, can you not get somewhere to 'touchy feel' the xe2 and xp1? IMO the feel of the camera is so important to my desire to own it.

I've owned both 56mm and 60mm lens, and whilst the image quality between the two is actually very similar the AF on the 56mm is much much quicker.

Thanks Adam again for very helpful reply..I also love shallow depth of field and have been amazed by the images I have seen whilst looking online from the 56mm..The 60mm is obviously a belter of a lens also but that 1.2 does draw me in.I have a budget of about £1400 to play with so was thinking maybe xe2 plus 56mm and the 35mm f2.If I got them used it would leave me some cash to maybe pick up the 18-55 or a wider prime.I do wonder wether its worth holding out to see if prices drop but i am impatient and driving the Mrs up the wall..lol:D
