Srsly, I got a lovely little book with mine...... :)

Hi, The X-E1 & X100s are exactly the same, and I managed to find the setting just by chance in the menu system of the camera. Maybe I've completely missed it, but I can find no reference to this setting in any of the books. Could you let us know where in the books it is ?

Anyone manage to find a less annoying way to deal with the parrallax issue? Driving me mad :(

Do i need to forget what i see and start framing offset in my head or will something correct it.?

I find it quite easy, firstly make sure corrected autofocus frame is turned on, you now have two rectangles in the OVF, one in the centre, one to the right and slightly lower.

The centre AF rectangle covers distances of approx 3-4 metres or more, the dotted rectangle below and to the right is the corrected one for close focus.

In your mind draw a diagonal line between the two off them, if your shooting at around 2 metres the corrected AF rectangle will appear roughly at the mid point of the diagonal line you've drawn between them.

With frequent use you get so used to it that it predicting where your focus point is becomes almost second nature

Aha will take a look at this method tonight.

Guys, i'm very much leaning towards buying into the X-Pro1 system... i'm feeling a little weighed down by my DSLR kit these days and think i would benefit from a more compact "bag of toys" so to speak.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for the best deals around at the moment? .. i understand the free lens offer has been extended until the end of March so that's a good start, also to help with lens choice i mainly shoot STREET/PORTRAITURE ..and some LANDSCAPE when out traveling. i'm not a SPORTS/WILDLIFE/BIRDSetc... type of shooter although might try my hand at some of the latter in the future should the need arise but its not going to be my main shooting interest.
what would be the pluses and minuses from going from Canon 5D3 and some "L"s ...over to the X-Pro1 system?
thanks and look forward to your answers

The UK XP1 bundle with free lens is a bargain IMO and you wont get better elsewhere (new).

Canon 5D3 will be a better performer in pretty much every aspect but the Fuji IQ and hi ISO for APSC is also very good. (£2000+ vs £450 body (after removing bundle lens value)). What you will gain is portability and a lot of change in your pocket.

Lens recommendations.... youre used to paying L prices so Ill recommend the best, 14mm 2.8, 23mm 1.4, 56mm 1.4. (35mm equiv 21mm, 35mm, 85mm). Those should cover your requirements.

Hi Mark,
If you're not a sports/wildlife/birds person, there's no reason for you to keep your 5DMKIII... The X-system is coming along in leaps and bounds and in the week since I got my X-Pro1, I've been really impressed with it. :)

I've only got the 18mm at the moment and despite the fact that it's not particularly wide, it's still a very versatile little lens. :) I've got the 35mm coming soon and I'll probably add an 8mm (and maybe the 14mm) and definitely the 56mm at some point... That'll see me through everything I'd need.

Cheers,
Si

Cameraworld are doing a bundle that not only gives you the two lens deal but also a free grip, free spare battery and a 16GB SD card as well, all for £949

Lens wise I would go for the 35mm to go with the 18mm you get with the camera

Thats actually pretty good, the grip is worth £50 alone.

£890 on Amazon (link) - although without the grip battery or card. It depends whether you want the cash or the grip. And whether the card Cameraworld is offering is any good (only mentions capacity and Lexar, not the speed).

I personally went amazon in Dec, xp1 grip imo is fine (xe1 needs a grip), battery could be useful but not worth £50 and I have lots of cards. Its £50 towards a lens.

Given the cost of a genuine Fuji battery is £59,the cheapest I've seen the grip for is also £59 and the card is the Lexar professional (600x) that retails at £49 so paying the extra £50 gets you £157 worth of accessories (based on actual shop prices, not RRP)

On the grip, it makes a huge difference to handling, making one handed shooting much easier & secure as well as really helping with some of the heavier lenses such as the 55-200mm

The grip is very helpful and we all know Fuji battery life is nothing special so well worth getting. But a used grip can be cheap and an off brand one may be better (if you want Arca-compatibility for example). And some off brand batteries are dirt cheap.

That's the best deal I have ever seen. I don't think that can be beaten. Agree with the lens choices.

I did wonder for a moment if Cameraworld were on the list of participating dealers for the cashback and free lens deals - they are.

You dont have to go off brand for arca swiss compatibility now as fuji have released the revised grip that also fits arca swiss mounts, the only problem is the cost, its almost doubled at £129 RRP

Yep Nod, they're an official fuji dealer. ;)

I bought this deal at Christmas from Cameraworld. Same price. They were extremely efficient and delivery was spot on. Highly recommended.

I'm looking at the Cameraworld deal, and I can't see anything that specifies that it's a genuine Fuji grip, or a genuine Fuji battery, or what spec the memory card is. Normally a retailer would be shouting loudly if the bundled accessories were genuine and not third party.

I assure you that they are the genuine Fuji items.

many thanks chaps! ... the Cameraworld deal looks inviting:)

is it the grip that allows access to the battery compartment without taking it off?
No its the original flat bottomed Fuji one. It fits on and off really easily though.

EDIT: Sorry I presumed you were talking about the Cameraworld grip??

Have any X series people tried motorsport with them? Is it possible?

As long as you can drive one handed then yes it's light enough to hold it in the other......:exit:

Chris would be the man to ask
Keep messing up the link so see post #1014
