The Not-Quite-So-New Photography Cartoon Thread

Nice! I wish I could draw :(

Give it a go, you might surprise yourself. Bear in mind that it's the joke that gives the cartoon the wieght and not the artwork itself. I could do the most detailed and beautiful piece of work but if it isn't backed up with a good "punch line" then the whole thing would get lost anyway.

Speaking of which . . . here's a brand new photography-related cartoon! (NSFW, though . . . so, scroll down slowly).

It has been a while since I put an actual photo-related cartoon into this thread.

Well, here's a fresh new one, hot off the press . . .

Ian this thread is blooming awesome and put a smile on my face. Love the dead pixel one.

Hi everyone and glad you all like it!

And as so it happens, I now have a fresh new cartoon for this thread. Actually, I did it for a friend as a facebook banner but thought I'd slip it in here due to the photography joke theme anyway.

Have you ever thought of doing a book or calender of your cartoons? They are brilliant.

:) Awww, thanks! Perhaps once this 365 project is completed in May, then I might turn it into as a book simply called "The Great Doodle".

In the mean time, here's another photo-related cartoon fresh off the presses.

Think it is time to blow the dust and brush away the cobweb on this thread and stick a fresh new cartoon into it . . .

Popped down to Branscombe recently to drop off a loan camera to Pete (BSM) and while wandering along a track below the cliff had an escape route worked out should I have heard any ominous sounds from the cliffs (which did show signs of recent sagging and tumbling).

hahaha some quality ones here!! love it

Hi Andrew and cheers!

And surprise, surprise - another fresh new cartoon so soon after the last one!

No348-Smile_zps8a9b7db6.jpg

This is today's cartoon, No 348, as part of The Great Doodle project - a 365-type mission. Indeed, I am preparing to polish the lens on my camera as I revive my passon for photography after the Great Doodle ends at the end of this month.

:snigger:

When my wife can't see me smiling, she knows I need a beard trim/haircut! (There are a few more "executive highlights" in my beard and my hair's less ginger [and there's less of it!] otherwise that could be me!)

Have completed my year long 365-style mission, The Great Doodle project! This is where I did a cartoon a day every day for a whole year - my own personal "Mount Everest" (A-why-did-I-do-it-because-it's-there kind of thing).

Here it is in all it's glory: http://thegreatdoodle.blogspot.co.uk/

Now to try and get back into this thing called . . . remind me what it is again? . . . "life".

Looking forward to getting back to a faster connection and looking at the whole set. Hope the occasional one will still slip out when the muse nibbles your toenails...

Congrats on the completion Ian
I had a look through before and they are all "gems" :)
But I hope that doesn't mean that we won't see any more of your handy work.

Very good.
Had a look through the last 30 or so, Iron Man, Morris Dancing and DIY store all made me chuckle out loud more than normal! Good stuff.

Dear Ian,
may I echo Chris and Keith's request that you continue to provide us with your excellent observations on photographic life, they have been much appreciated. I fully understand that the one a day series was a personal project/challenge - might I be so bold as to suggest a monthly (dare I ask for weekly?!) panel so it doesn't take up too much of your time?

Yours in hope,

Nod.

Hi! Yes, I've certainly have neglected this one! But it's only due to the weather often being too nice to sit indoors and doodle away. But fear not as I'll try and fire up those brain cells (all three of them) and come up with some more ideas.
Maybe any fresh new cartoons that does appear in here may have to be less photographically-related (perhaps more about computers or something), actually I do have something to mind so watch this space.

Watching with bated breath! :yay:

Not quite photography-related but more into computers but I'm sure your cat does that as well.

Chad_zps07cd6b18.jpg

However, this cartoon is tinged with sadness as I did this as a tribute to my 11 years old black cat, Chad, who had to be put to sleep only a few days ago. This is just my way to honour his memory,

Sorry to hear about your moggy. Ive got an old git of 19 who was given 6 months to 2 years to live due to renal failure 6 months ago. Dreading the day.

The way you have drawn the fur on your cat looks exactly how my black cat Marvin looks when he's been out for hours in the pouring rain catching mice.
He doesn't seem to mind - but I do!
Sometimes the little git even shakes water off his coat like a dog :cuckoo:

That explains the cat - what's your excuse ;)

Sorry to hear about "Chad" Ian,
but I'm pleased to see you are back into the swing of posting cartoons again

Awww, Keith, 19 years is an amazing age for a cat though but I'm sure you will make the most of every day with him still about.

Sadly with my Chad, it was quite a sudden thing. One week he was all fine and healthy, then in the next week he wasn't really looking that well (lost the sheen on his coat, no appetite, etc) so I took him to the vets and discovered he had cancer in the mouth).

I have made a blog dedicated to his memory, it is a bit of a long read but it does have lots of photos of him: http://mybits.webs.com/inmemoryofchad.htm

Hi Chris! Indeed, it's only in the summer months I tend to become less prolific with my drawings what with the weather often being nicer. Also, it gives me a bit of a break then I can do my doodlings with renewed vigour as we enter the darker winter months.

Sympathies from us on losing a friend - at least he went quite quickly and (hopefully) with little suffering.

I think all of us with cats can relate to their uselessness as either transparent objects or typing assistants as well as their persistence when wanting more food...
