Hi Guys

I am new here by a few days.
Just bought a D60 (nikon) and have a question. I heard the dust on sensor is cleaned by vibrating the dust of and it gets stored in a little box. But what happens when this box is full of dust, is there a way to empty the little box. I've checked the manual no answer please :help:

Does anyone know where I can get an viewfinder cover thingy. It was supposed to have come with my camera but I can't find it.

Sorry to sound ignorant
but what does F mount lenses mean

Flah in pan, Do you know where I can get an viewfinder cover thingy. It was supposed to have come with my camera but I can't find it.

if you do actually mean 'viewfinder', as in the eyepiece, it may already be on it, a rubber mount thingy you can slide off and on. If you mean the LCD cover, if it was listed as being supplied with one, contact your retailer and ask them for one. If not, a quick search of retailers like jessops, warehouse xpress, or even ebay should locate one for you to purchase.

I mean the thing that covers the eyepeice to stop light getting in when using self time etc

You mean one of these?

It's probably in amongst all the stuff in the box

there should have been one, but dont worry, you dont need that bit, lol

Another question

You know those really long heavy lens, are they compataible with D60 because surely the weight would put strain on the camera body and cause cracks?

Or am I am being stupid

Wouldn't that be a bit inconvenient - having to dismantle the camera to get at it to fit over the viewfinder?

...not if you have a hammer. How long an exposure requires one of these? I'm going to look for mine in my boxes - pretty sure I dont have one (or two) either.

Chris

you support the weight of the lens, no the body when you get to a certain size.

If you look at a large lens, it will have a foot on it, when on a tripod you hold the lens and the body is supported by the lens.

Do Nikon still make 35mm SLR film cameras. I know they have more less gone for the consummer but do they make them for profesionals, because I have been told that film camera quality will always beat a dslr whatever its Mega pixel

As long as you don't let all the weight hang on the mount it should be ok, can look a bit daft though (70-200 vr on a D40)

Yes, Nikon still make pro slrs, cost you morethan a D300 though ;)

Dude, Have you taken any shots with the D60 yet? What do you think of your new purchase?

Only Practise shots.

I am still homebound I've got a badly bruised and Swallon leg.

First thoughts

FANTASTIC

It'll probably tell you if you RTFM! (Page 134 is a good place to start...)

Just wondering what the difference between focal length and zooming is

I don't mean to be rude, but you've asked a lot of bone questions over the last week that could be answered by simply searching or, heaven forbid, reading the manual.

There's a search function at the top of this forum and if you don't get your answer there you could always try www.google.com

Thats an unfair comment, I have read the manual and searched the internet but I just wanted a straight answer.
