What have they done? They seem to have taken all the user friendliness out of it!

While I can see the benefit of it being database driven, they need to work on the usability from our end, not just theirs. It was great how the lenses user to be split between primes and zooms, in focal length order.

I was looking for the price of a Canon extender and I couldn't find it on the site at all, so won't be buying from them!
 
I only seem to be able to see there old website at the moment, not sure if the new site came up before it was tested fully or something.

Maybe not - it is just the .com still running the old version

Damn ... they dumb.

I always battle with their ludicrous "pick the next subcategory and wait for full page refresh" system of navigation, and yet they've not only kept it on the new site but added further clicks to get to the Canon lenses.

It really is NOT very difficult to create a multi-dimensional, hover-based javascript menuing system. Very disappointed they haven't implemented one.
 
The .co.uk doesn't look too bad. No better or worse than the .com version.

Craikey, don't let the website fool you - WE gives amazing service. Ordered my new Nikon on Friday, got the finance agreement through Saturday monring, which was returned before noon same day. Yesterday (Tuesday) I geta call fromt he missus to say everything's arrived. Three working days to sort finance AND get the products out is amazing service.

Definitely use them again, even if they are a tad more expensive than some other shops at times.
 
This is like that "don't judge someone by the way they write" mantra on forums that you sometimes find. People have to make a judgement about others in order to survive in this world, so that they know how to deal with them. When your sole data for making that judgement is what someone writes, then you have to judge them by that.

It's like that for a company where their website IS their storefront. If you went to a shop where the products were hard to find and the assistants unhelpful, would it matter to you how cheap they were? You have got to make ease of use the most important factor in any website that wishes its visitors to perform some kind of action, otherwise you're just shooting yourself in the foot :)
 
I disliked the old website, the new one seems much more intuitive to me.

Doh! They used to be with the Canon Lenses, so was looking there.

I've used them before and was pleased with the service, hence its always the first site I go to when I want to look at gear, will use the .com version now that I know that works the old way!

not 100% sure but I think they may have started out as mail order, and their service over the phone is second to none, for example there was a que of calls at the finance depeartment when I called to order my new stuff, and instead of putting me on hold they said they would call me back, and sure enough 5 minutes later a very polite call back - you just dont seem to get this from anyone else these days. I never had any problems with thier old site, and now they seemed to have listened to their customers and added elements like stock indicators etc and tarted up the existing navigation etc.
 
I bought a collapsible background last week and there are marks on one of the sides of the lastolite unit. No questions asked, they'll ship me a new one and collect the old one at the same time. Excellent service.
 
Agree about their phone service ... exemplary. I'm very impressed by it, and the new site sure looks slick too, but the navigation really is bad! :)
 
Bought a P&S for the wife through the buy now pay later scheme. Paid the balance in full well before the due balance date. Their finance company decided their still going to take the monthly instalments from my bank account, it was only because of a enquiry to my bank on another subject that it was discovered. Buyer beware if using the buy now pay later.
