I would bet money the reason they haven't done an interchangeable version is twofold.
1) Manufacturing and development expense
2) They claim the sensor is optimised for the lens (Refer to the PDF), in that the periphery photosites are angled to accommodate the fixed lens angle of view. Were it to be interchangeable, this would not be possible and would compromise the image quality.
Now, I know some people will say "Well the PEN has interchangeable lenses!", yes it does, but it remains to be seen how good the IQ from this Fuji will be. If it's the same as a PEN or similar, then yes Fuji have failed miserably.
If it's truly stellar? Then we'll have a relatively compact, sexy-as-hell manually controllable camera, the likes of which manufacturers have ignored since the birth of the digital compact.
