The nerve of some folk

Let him chase you for the money now, he tried it on and lost, tough! If he gets as much luck as everybody else with paypal, he'll never get his money back. Wayne

At least you have a working camera back in your hands. I know it`s not the result you really wanted, but at least you have your goods back.

Ebay`s a nightmare. Too many con artists and crooks. Ebay and Paypal being one of them. I certainly won`t purchase high value goods unless it`s local and collection available.

I`ve given up selling on there too.

This is my last sale on ebay and probably my last buy too as the scammers are now getting past paypal or they seem to have so much money paypal turns a blind eye to them and let them do their drop shipping and trading without any policing at all and as for the common crooks they can do as they please

I have never set out to defraud or con anyone but this case proves its going on ....on ebay day after day I sold a perfect example of a D2H and then got an email saying it didnt work correct (no focus) then another email saying the focus screen had fell out in transit ( expected as this does come out for cleaning/replacing) then it doesnt work.........Then paypal in all their wisdom ruled against me saying I sold a camera that was knackered and did not work and demanded the £460 back .....its not happening I have contacted ebay who are on my side and say I am within my rights to stop paypal (even though ebay own paypal) so the farce goes on but untill its sorted I own the D2H and D200 now wahay

His money bought my D200 and now I have my D2H back .....sweet:thumbs:

WOW result....paypal have told us not to do anything we keep the camera and cash ...untill this joker decides to withdraw everything and take the camera back at his expense an pay me compensation or he gets done for simple fraud

Wow DM I,m jealous now, I only got my S3 and you ...... 2 cameras a D200 AND now your D2H back ...you could be nice for xmas and give me one for my prezzie (thats if you really really love me)

a result for the honest man...its a first

well done...lol

So now I have two decent cameras its time to start putting then side by side and choosing the best....the 10+MP OF THE d200 or the outright down to earth quality of the d2h ......decisions.....?

Followed this with interest DM. Well done for sticking with it. Many would have given up at the first hurdle.

fantastic result DM pleased for you.

Its about time we all stood up to paypals silly rules and regs....its so easy if you follow the rules and dont bow down:thumbs:

I've won a very big Paypal dispute as a buyer fairly recently.

I don't want to go into too many details (as the Seller is now the subject of a Police enquiry) but his scam backfired very badly indeed...

[chant]We want details! We want details![/chant] :naughty:

I have been scammed twice on ebay both times for mobile phones and paypal have paid me back in the end less a 15.00 admin fee each time...but why is it that you always feel like you could end up taking a massive pill when dealing with ebay and paypal...i say they need proper constraints and regulations like all other financial establishments.

Are they even answerable to the FSA?

Great result Dangermouse but I wouldnt spend the dosh just yet...but its nice to know that the scammer is now the one sweating!!

Well done DM! This should be pinned at the top of the forum as a reminder to everyone that if you know you are right, you should argue your point rationally rather than just fold in the face of the 'big guy'.

Fair play to you for your persistence, and I'm pleased it ended up working out for you

Good work DM! Nice to see you got a result in the end! I rarely use eBay but when I do I will not accept paypal as payment. Too open to scams and if it means I have less buyers interested then fine...I've sold everything I've ever put on there so it doesn't put that many people off it seems.

Really pleased it all worked out for you DM, it's been a very interesting thread to watch.

A recent rule change means that you have to offer Paypal as a payment option now, no choice :shake:

I'd be careful you don't sell it.

I'd ask the buyer to arrange a collection and give them a certain number of days to do so, before you can dispose of the item.

I think legally you do have an obligation here to ask him to collect, give him the option of having the goods returned at his expense, or to refund him, minus postage costs.

Be careful you don't hold onto the money, and the goods without making an effort to address the situation.

He has already stated he doesnt want it back as he bought a cheaper one and its not really for sale ....yet

Well the buyer or should I say fraudster won the case as some of you know and he now has 500quid from my account the swine so now the D2H is going to be offered here but what should I ask for it and obviously you do get a few days to try it before paying for it .....?

I have only just seen this one - if I were you I would get onto paypal and get them to freeze the funds as they appear to have told you that you won the dispute. Really hope you get it sorted out with them as they are going too far with this now :(

This is already done yet he has already been paid back.... which we dont mind as the D2H is now mine again what we dont like is the sneaky way paypal did this and paid the money back when there is no reason to repay it as its definately a fraud against us but never mind we havent lost anything apart from our 100% feedback

My only bad experience of ebay was for a £10 Gamecube game about 5 years ago.

I bid won and paid, a week went by and nothing came in the post so I contacted the seller, he claimed to have proof of posting so I sid he should put a claim in with the PO.

He said he wouldn't but would provide proof of posting, this came by email.

It was a scanned receipt of 5 handwritten addresses stamped by the PO, my item was no 6 on the list written in different handwriting which had obviously been written on afterwards, best bit was the date on the proof of posting was they day before I won the auction:lol:

Not the brightest of criminals he's probably in prison by now

With any luck Ebay will have removed his account. Glad that you have the camera back in one piece. Shame that he's effectively gotten away with it if he's been refunded the money.

I must be one of the lucky ones (is there a smilie for touching wood :) ) as so far I haven't had any problems with being scammed on buying and I've bought a reasonable amount of stuff over the last few years. Well only once, a new oak dining room suite that only came with 4 chairs instead of 6 and some minor scratches on the top. After complaining and waiting for the seller to get replacements gave up and the seller gave me back half the money and I kept the table and chairs, so was reasonably happy in the end.

Had absolutely no problems with my purchase of a Sigma 300mm F4 and Canon 100-400. Picked them up personally and the sellers went out of their way to make sure I was happy or they would relist them.

Selling was another matter though, have only done that once, for a motorbike and never again, was given a right run around by the buyer.

Apologies for a bit of a ramble.
