And the item has to be signed for by the recipient, not a houemate/family member - its ridiculous.

There's 8 people in my house and I'm on the top so never hear the door let alone get to it first - the whole system is flawed to allow people to scam :bang:
 
You could always ask the buyer to send you a pic of the problem and suggest his using the identical camera he bought just after receiving yours ;)

It is in fact a couple Drew is the one who bought the camera

Surely paypal can see he has bought 2 for a reason and wants to send the dearer one back probably with its guts ripped out
 
I didn't realise that it was possible - let alone seemingly easy - to scam sellers on eBay? I've sold a fair few things with no problems at all (including a load of my dads camera stuff when he died), so I guess I must have been lucky... but seeing as it's so easy to do, where's that Canon L lens catalogue.....!

Providing you can make out the serial number in the full size pic then you are good to go - if you have an Ebay dispute open, I would send a copy of the pic to Ebay in advance of them sending you anything in return (if that makes sense)

I have completed thousands of transactions on ebay, but no longer. There seems to be more scamming scumbags on there with every day that passes. I now steer well clear. I have been scammed 6 or 7 times in the last couple of years. They seem to be making it easier for buyers to scam and more difficult for the honest sellers. :(:thumbsdown:
 
Well I said I would inform you all of anything that happens..... so Nothing yet ...weeks into this and nothing

If it does go against me I have asked my own solicitor who says and I quote "claims against Paypal are fruitless they are a company or (companies) that cannot be touched by European laws yet the case I have can and will be proven that Paypal ARE IN FACT A FRAUDULENT BUSINESS they act in their own interest and not in the interests of the consumer", If you sell an item for 0.40p and it is sold elsewhere for 0.30p paypal will be on your side ....yet if its two shops competing then paypal will look at who has the biggest turnover and judge in their favour

Brussels ey and we are supposed to trust em
 
UPDATE.... Well now as I said I would let you all know whats happening ...I lost the claim but I have counterclaimed before the swine tries sending it back.

I really dont mind having it back and to be truthfull I would love it back BUT would I be getting my camera back "only the serial no can tell" and if I do let it come back has it had its guts ripped out and replaced????? so now do I forget paypals policies and ****** them off like they have done me or do I go along with them
 
Having bought and sold stuff on eBay and been paid through Paypal I know how easy it is for buyers to make a claim with paypal and get a judgement in their favour.

As a seller you are wide open to being scammed if you have been paid by Paypal. Every dispute I have had with paypal has resulted in the buyers favour. Only once did I actually get one in my favour after an appeal in which I proved the person claiming the item had not arrived had in fact gone to the post office, collected the item and signed for it ! Paypal firstly ruled in the buyers favour and took the money off me !

Paypal is a joke. Just google for paypal and see some of the horror stories.

They aren't treated as a financial institution under UK or European laws so they can basically do as they like with any monies that they hold in their accounts. They are a joke.

Luckily for me they hold only 64pence I had some good advise to empty my account which I did :thumbs:
 
If you have his address i would suggest torching it while he sleeps but then I have been accused of over reacting before :shrug:. Sorry to hear things didn't go in your favour.

That is exactly what they are, a 'self-serving' JOKE! Another JOKE is the new ebay rule :rules: that it is now COMPULSORY for sellers to offer Paypal as a payment option! Fleabay and Paypal? :razz:
 
Okay, how do I block specific eBayers from bidding on my auctions?

I had a similar experience, the last time I sold a compact camera on eBay. It was in perfect working order and even received as such with the new lady owner telling me how great it was. Then a few days later, whilst I was away on holiday, she emailed me back to tell me it had stopped working. I didn't have access to my email until about a week later only to find that she'd disputed the sale with PayPal and they'd frozen the funds in my account.

I called PayPal and explained what had happened. They sided with her and refunded her from my account. Days later, I got the broken camera back.

Since then I've not been very keen to sell anything of value through eBay or using PayPal unless they're known to me in some way.
 
I won a lens 2 1/2 months ago, heard nothing after a week so I initiated a claim to get my money back, then the guy says sorry, he's a sailor and was stuck in amsterdam due to bad weather, lens arrives but the pin that locks the aperture ring is knackered

I send it back but because I put the claim in paypal have frozen the money(put it in their interest bearing account)

I bought the lens in september, they STILL havent refunded my money despite me sending proof of receipt and the seller saying he's received it.

You are wasting money even calling paypal direct ....it gets you nowhere and even trying the dedicated line is as much use as piles to a gayman

you're right, even if you get 10% less you'll still end up with a similar price once you take paypal and ebay fees into account without all the grief
 
No nastiness to gays or owt as I could have said .....as much use as a chocolate fireguard and then be racist but ....you get the drift...sorry if it offends but I am mad now
 
**UPDATE**

Well it seems I have lost the claim (as expected) even though paypal even said I sent a perfectly working camera and it does seem he opted for the cheaper one he bought two days after he bought mine.
It should be back with me tomorrow so I will give it a thorough check to make sure he hasnt medled with it in any way and if alls well I will keep it as it was a superb camera, But if its a different serial number or has been tampered with then it stays here and goes to court as Paypal do have a tendency to go with the crooks side of the story ...but what else can we expect ebay is a thieves heaven run by crooks.

I personally will never buy from ebay again
 
It's stories like these that keep on ensuring I will never buy or sell from there as long as I live. Paypal are just as bad as well, both are just a bunch of crooks.

Shame you have to go through all of that, especially when you're selling quality goods.
 
Don't get me started, Paypal have cost me hundreds, I hate them and e-bay. If I see something I want to buy from e-bay I make a agreement outside e-bay and never use paypal. I once lost a claim to a guy that ripped 7 other people off, but because I couldn't prove he had received my postal order (lost the receipt) I lost the claim even though the other 7 people had their money returned due to no delivery of goods :(
Stay well clear of paypal, I will never offer it as a payment option on my web site.
 
I agree with all points, trouble is Paypal is so convenient when accepting credit cards and so convenient :|

I havn`t had much trouble with Paypal other than within ebay. touch wood.
 
Dangermouse do you really want to plaster your address all over the net? It's almost an open invitation to visit for some people.
 
Sorry to hear your horror story. But may I ask why you did not insure it for postage? RM special delivery is not much more than recorded delivery and offers insurance up to £550 or so.

I've not had any problems with ebay or paypal myself, but I wouldn't sell or buy something of great value on there.

Regardless of what it looks like he's done, paypal will only be interested in the transaction between the two of you. As far as they are concerned he can buy a hundred cameras on ebay, there is no law against that. Yes he probably has gone for a cheaper option, and yes he was making something out of nothing regarding your camera being faulty to enable him to send it back, but he could just as easily have said it had not arrived, kept the camera and claimed a refund, then where would you be?

Recorded delivery will insure up to £33 I think, if it is worth more than that I only offer special delivery as a postage option.

He emailed me and opted for the cheaper non insured delivery otherwise it would have been the more expensive option ...his choice not mine but ebay and paypal are now looking into it after an hr long phone call at the photos submitted today from the D2H and will do something about this somewhat little fraud

I think its £36 to be honest for insurance but this was stated in the post office as nearly £500 so it should be automatically put onto the postage
 
Anyway it doesnt really matter as he paid me for the camera and stated it didnt work and sent it back so I have the payment and paypal cannot use the account anymore as it has now been closed because of this farce but I also hold the camera too so where does the buyer stand .....

Paypal can either look at the information and turn a blind eye as they always do or ask me to return the camera at the buyers expense either of which I am happy with

He gets his camera back or I keep it and the funds he paid..fraud doesnt work:thumbs:
 
At least you have a working camera back in your hands. I know it`s not the result you really wanted, but at least you have your goods back.

Ebay`s a nightmare. Too many con artists and crooks. Ebay and Paypal being one of them. I certainly won`t purchase high value goods unless it`s local and collection available.

I`ve given up selling on there too.
