I'm just wondering if anybody else bought a Canon body and tried to claim cashback over the past couple of months? I bought my EOS 40D between Chrismtas and New Year, and sent the cashback claim form off at the start of January. So far, I haven't received my £60 cashback. Does it normally take this long, or should I be getting on the phone to them?

I claimed cashback on a 400D last year, and it took about 6 weeks before I got the cheque. I'd give it two or three more weeks before you contact them.

Why not log in to the Canon website and check on the status of your claim? Or do they no longer offer that service?

Can take a couple of months. I seem to remember that they have some sort of tracking system which you can view on the web but I know that the cheques can take some time to arrive. When I sent my claims in (I have done this twice now), I remember feeling a bit miffed that I had to send everything to Southern Ireland which meant that there was no option for recorded delivery and proof that I had sent in the required bar codes etc.

Go back to the website which you used to download all the paperwork and see if you can find any instructions of how to track your claim. They also had a section telling you how far behind they were in dealing with claims if my memory serves me correctly.

I bought in January and read a thread on here a couple of weeks ago that it can take a while to get your money back - don't know if it will help but perhaps do a search for that thread, there were loads of replies from people in the similar situation

I sent mine away at the beginning of January - still not received the cheque yet :(

same :shake:

I hadnt got mine so I phoned up Canon Uk and they gave me another number which was an automated response and that gave me an e-mail address to write to I did and just put down the date I sent the letter and within 2 hours i had a response and within 3 days I had a check.
i found he Canon number by Googling Canon

Excellent, thanks for that. I'll give them a bell in the morning.

I also sent a claim form in January :) but what actually concerns me is that I haven't heard anything from them? I have had three cashbacks in the past without problem but they usually acknowledge it via email, which allows the tracking on the web  Oh well, I'll wait and see what happens!

Last year canon took about 4 months for mine

They've always delivered eventually though. I've had 3 cashbacks.

I emailed them (different addy to the one above) today and got a very quick response saying that they were going to look into it. Received another email tonight asking if I had the reference number of the recorded delivery slip so they could check that against their 'delivery records' - sounds a bit worrying to me, even more so as now I can't find the recorded delivery receipt. :bonk:

Will see what they say tomorrow !

Pentax are none too quick out of the traps with their cashback scheme.

I think it's the old business principle of "pay as little as possible, as late as possible".

It took months for my cashback to arrive, even then it was after wasting a fair bit of time chasing it up and being told to wait. Only finally got it after complaining to the Canon offices in Ireland, who I believe were processing the cashback applications.

I sent my form in on 19th December, after 2 phonecalls and an email they said they hadn't received it (on Monday) so i emailed it directly to the person i spoke to, and hopefully its being processed now.

My form was in the post just before Christmas (around 20th Dec) and the cheque arrived about a week ago. Factor in the big increase in claims they would have received directly after Christmas and I think you should expect to wait up to another month.

Sent mine off mid December for a 40d, and received the cheque in early Jan. I suspect that the Xmas backlog has something to with your long wait. Everyone that I know who has claimed cash back has got their cheque eventually, so I wouldn't worry too much.

theres a number for Ireland somewhere which i rang and the woman got the cheque in the post next day for me.

Sent my claim off 28th Dec. and received cheque 6th Feb. - receipt on its way back with entry for the Aussie safari..:D

Another one in the cashback queue, I bought my 1000D in early January & I have not received my cashback yet. I will give it another couple of weeks & if I have not heard anything by then I will be chasing them myself.

I bought a 40D last year and from me sending the request to getting the email confirmation saying it was being proessed was about a week. Then I had a 3 month wait for the cheque.

My wait is over, the cashback cheque arrived today without having to chase Canon for it.

My cashback cheque arrived the other day. Good good I thought, only to see that the tool who printed the cheque had made it payable to HMS Collingwood (where I live), not to me! It's not as if they didn't know my name as the letter was addressed to me correctly as was the salutation! Muppets. I bet I'll have to wait another 2 months for a replacement.....

Sent my request for 50£ chashback to canon mid january, still waiting.

the cheque finally arrived on Saturday (28th) - took approx 7 weeks

got my cheque today!
Sent it off 12th Jan. Not far off the 28 days considering all the Christmas purchases.

Got to wait until Monday to get it in the bank. It's going towards my next purchase - whatever that ends up being (monopod, lens, lightbox, hmm . . . toys . . .)

Mine arrive 2 days ago, and was sent to them on Jan 10th.

Got mine few days ago too (sent mid january).

I thought they were very good, I sent mine off in November and got the cheque back within 3 weeks. Sounds like they must have been a bit snowed under over Christmas.

I was very impressed, I wasn't the original purchaser of the camera as I had bought it on ebay secondhand, though I had managed to get hold of the receipt. The guy I bought it from had received it as a work bonus gift so the receipt was an email from Amazon to the company that provided it.

I thought that might be an issue for Canon but they just sent the cheque no questions asked.

I split it with the guy who sold me the camera.(he didn't know about the cash back option but had tracked down the email for me so that I could claim it)

I've used Canon cash back offers three times now. It can take a while but has always been ok so far for me.

My cheque arrived on Wednesday this week, 2 months after I sent the form off!

I sent my cashback request for my HF10 video camera at Christmas time..... Just received my cheque on Wednesday! :)
