Yes
on a few occasions my wife has asked me to get certain types of shots.

one time she suggested going down the beach to get some landscape shots of the rough stormy seas ( when it was dark)
and i swear it nearly started an arguement.

she said youve just spent £300 on a flash light and you cant even take shots in the dark!, im like yeah i can but the flash doesnt light up the world, only several meters.

and, why are you so picky with what light you shoot in?

we always go out with intentions of taking photos for me. sometimes the light is dull and lifeless others its way too bright.

BUt, youve got like 2ks worth of equipmet and you cant even take a photo?!

lol, recently weve been hearing a (what i think) is a bird (and what she thinks) is a dog barking/calling in our garden. and last night she suggested i should hide out in the bushes with using the night vision setting on my camera PMSL!!.
i said, Night vision?? its a camera not a gadget!

again shes like, Pff 2k! and you cant even see in the dark!.

i swear shes just saying for jokes and to wind me up, i hope...

:cuckoo:
:bonk:

She wants you to buy her some shoes! ;)

pah - girlies - what do they know?

cripes - I'm out of here! :coat:

Shes a woman.... just humour her :lol::lol: :exit:

My advice would be... tell her to read the camera manual!!

Nothing wrong with taking pictures of the beach in the 'dark', as long as you don't mind taking the dog egg challenge that is.

no im not after advice of how to deal with it, im sure shes just saying it to wind me up, so i just found it funny and thought i would share it with you guys
How much have you spent on gear again ?

only about £2300 ish?

Don't you just  'em ... :suspect:

Buy her a handbag ... she'll then be off your case for all of five minutes ... ;)

:p

You could always buy the other half a camera and suggest she hides in the bushes!

My OH did the same thing - now he is all interested in photography, got a DSLR and joined this forum!!! I'd better watch what I'm saying !! he he

Sarcasm, logic and a mean streak. You're a very lucky man DoubleT. ;) :D

^^ yeah and dont get puttin a crease on them jeans  :exit:

Well I think we've hijacked this thread enough.... sorry DoubleT :(

pmsl, no worries dude.

just for the record i have been trying to get her into photography, she does have one of my old cameras to knock about with ( fuji s5500) she takes it out if i go shooting for the day, shes actually got a really good eye and gives me inspriation too,
weve spoke about getting her a SLR but i think the complexity of it scares her a little :'(

this thread was in no means meant to turn into a sexist thread

It didn't turn, I'd say it actually started out that way IMO. Your initial post comes across as fairly patronising to women. You implied your wife was a bit dim when it comes to the technicalities of photographic equipment because she is a woman.

This may not have been your conscious intention but that's how it read and the several posters who followed by adding bigoted comments definitely added to the general bad vibe.

Well that's the written word and the internet for you. I read it totally the opposite way around.

I thought it was a post by DoubleT about the way his wife likes to have a little fun at his expense. Reading between the lines I thought perhaps DT takes his snapping a little seriously at times and it's become a good subject for taking the mickey out of him.

The way I read it, DT has made his wife sound just fabulous and said so too. :)

i agree :)

thank you very much for clearing that up. :D

i have a bit of a problem with conveying my meaning across in text :bonk:

oh! by the way, i think we have found out t hat bird/dog is a pheasant!

after watching bill oddie last night we came to realise that the pheasant on TV was making the same noise as what we were hearing!.

:bonk:

I totally agree, which was why I chose my words very carefully so as not to upset anyone unduly.

But it might be worth bearing in mind that just because a few lines of text is followed by a bunch of daft smilies, doesn't mean it won't have the ability to cause offence or be misinterpreted.

I see what you're saying and whilst I try to make sure anything I write doesn't accidently offend anybody (if I want to offend I make sure there is no room for doubt ;) ) I don't think that text can really offend. You have to choose to be offended by it.

I have genuinely never understood how people get themselves upset by things they read on the web.

I for one hope my jokey responses didn't upset anyone
All in jest, and as for misogynist - nothing could be further from the truth
