Yes
I recently covered a triathlon event and saw that the official event photographers basically sat in the same place all day, and took the same shot again and again albeit with a different competitor in each shot.

Is there a more boring photographers job?

depends how the photographer views their line of work, I suppose.

most boring photography job I would imagine is landscape,
stick it on a tripod,
take three pics at different exposures
spend the rest of the day on a computer creating an image with nuclear greens and armageddon clouds i.e. post process it until the image is total garbage.

You never know... they might have actually been enjoying it. It's all personal taste.

Reckon taking passport pics must be like watching paint dry.

I used to really enjoy press work but living in a small town means that you very quickly end up shooting the same stuff over and over again.

I'd say - 80% of the time being a local rag photographer is pretty boring - but equally I guess any job is what you make of it!

compare it to sat in same position all day with a fishing rod doing absoloutly sod all :)

however I agree.. i covered a couple of 10k races a year or so ago when my wife was running them.. it was painfully boring and i dont do them anymore..

I can see why you think landscape photography is boring if that is the only way you approach it.

:plusone:

Each to their own tbh!

The most boring?
I would think product photography or perhaps crime scene.

The most exciting?
Extreme sports. It is the most exhilarating experience :) Unfortunately it's also extremely competitive.

Have to agree with the product photography.

Would love to try crime scene and extreme sports! Extreme sports must be awesome!

Product photography - if you are thinking for Littlewoods, then yes....but what about for say...Mercedes, or even....Ann Summers? :p

I think I'd find crime scene interesting, but then again I like to watch Diagnosis Murder :D

Product photography boring but fruitful:)

I will do it with just one exposure.... and no time at all on a computer.

That must make it even more boring!

Steve.

By product photography I had the thought of taking photographs of mobile phones for ebay.

By Product Photography! :D I'd be thinking big!

FHM clothing shoots for models, pics of Aston Martin's new car blasting around a track, etc etc.

I'm thinking the boring kind of product photography :D

Wheelchair product photography......oh there are sooooo many models and different colour seats, with each one needing underwheel shadows removed in PS........I thought I was going to go blind........................

what a div - that's called HDR BS! not proper landscape photography :bonk:

arghhhhh ok ok landscape photography is exciting.

down with HDR though.

Landscape photography is the dullest thing I could ever think of doing.

O wow clouds, hold on whilst I recompose because that cloud which is moving across my viewfinder at approx 1mm an hour needs to be better placed.

Yawnorama.

and the landscape photographers took a hell of a beating... while wedding photographers sit back waiting, knowing it will be there turn again real soon :)

I never thought Landscape photography could be classed as boring. LOL

Horses for courses I guess.

I once spent about two years photographing over 10,000 tiles for a museum, seen one seen them all.

...which reminds me.

A friend sent a link a while back to a job photographing the pages of "10s of 1000s of books" for a libraries archives.

Gripping stuff.

I was once photographed the entire range of Land Rover parts for a garage's online shop...yawn.

equestrian endurance racing. Wait an hour, there's a horse, "click", camera down, wait an hour, rinse, repeat

It is never boring if you are countryside lover because you are taking pics of that which you love looking at and being in.

If you are not a countryside/wild places type then you probably will not like it.

I love being in the countryside with or without a camera.

re product photography it really depends what your shooting, standard pack shots can be mind numbing but, room sets etc are good fun

I'd love to do crime scene!!!

Really? You really would?

So taking completely objective photographs, of a crime scene?
Perhaps focussing in on specific details? Like a severed head or a blood soaked carpet?

Perhaps not that severe, but it's not exactly glorious work.

And for the nature of it it needs to completely objective. You don't get to be arty.

Think f/8, 1/125, 50mm, flash on e-ttl for every shot.

Or so that's what I've been told when enquiring about it.

I wouldnt LOVE LOVE to do it. But it's just a job i would like to do. But alot of studying at college.. uni which would put me of. ;)

For me:

Most boring: Landscape, it's just not my thing really.
Most fustrating: Sports, my timing sucks

I enjoy: Editorial, it's cool taking a shot that's a bit different, playing in PS and then seeing it published.
All round favourite: Portraiture.

This may be boring but believe me it's an incredibly lucrative job. When ever my son races the photographs can cost up to £5 each so multiply that my the number of runners...it soon adds up to a lot of money for sitting on your butt in the same place. :)

I once shot 200 matchbox cars for an auction brochure, that was crrrap.
Its production line photography, repetitive poop, but pays bills

Edit...oh god, I forgot, bladdy jewellery, what a pain in the arse that was, 75 items all with different facets, bends and curves..
