The most awesome timelapse photography I've ever seen

He's used some pretty fancy equipment - tracking and crane sequences (although the crane could be a sloped track).

Thanks to Woodsy for sharing the link on FB :)

Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. I could sit and watch scenes like that for hours on end.

Makes me want to sit on top of a mountain, with nothing else around me but nature...

As a complete novice to this sort of thing, how is it done?

Ooops...ignore,read the whole thread now.

Just annoyingly good - my time lapse videos are rubbish :-)

I love Vimeo - at times I can just jump from great video to great video - particularly like Slumdog Wedding.

Between 2:24 to 2:30 seconds, the background clouds are moving soo fast yet the camera moves to the right ever so slightly and very slowly. How is this done?

I take it time lapse photography is done by taking lots and lots of images and NOT video?

I've done some reading on it, never tried it, but do wander how they get that effect of the clouds moving quickly but camera panning to the right gradually slowly.

Apple's QuickTime software does this panning automatically when you import the sequence of shots.

Thanks for bringing this to the forums Marcel. Superb to watch.

wow, STUNNING, i've never seen clouds look so fluid before, just shows you what your missing even when your looking right at it!

A single item which justifies HD. Being able to watch this full screen on my PC was, well....

Nothing to add

How on Earth did he get such good quality?

That was awesome!

Anybody else spotted a short clip taken from the sandstorm sequence in the video being used in the latest Microsoft IE advert that's been running on TV lately?

I wonder how much he got paid for that? :)
