Well, on friday I was watching Sir Clif at Wembley. For some ODD reason I said to the wife, we can walk the '4 miles' back to the Travel Lodge....
Well it went well, to start! Then we came to an intersection. We were lost..

Started to walk down the A40 (I think) Within seconds, a car raced down and hit its brakes, it was the Met! He asked what the heck we were doing.
Continued to say if we continued down that road, we probably would not be alive, as there had been five shootings that night there!!!

They took us to our hotel in the end!

I did not get the numbers of them and I know they are not supposed to do that, but what can I say! +1 for the Met!!!

It's brilliant to hear something good said about the Met.
Personally I'm totally convinced that the vast majority are good guys.

What is worrying is that there's any part of the country that is unsafe to walk down. Five shootings in a night sounds more like Afghanistan than London!

Nice one! Coppers are just humans though some might forget it!

Glad you had a good experience with them, that sort of thing is what the police are there for IMHO

Must be, these lads were sound. I am verse in martial arts and so is my wife. I can laugh now, but looking back, I was a bit scared lol!!

Tip Top Met's!

Tip Top Met's!

Sadly a Karate chop is no match for a gun !

Good call, many a time I have had a lift home by the Law, normally because I am a cheeky b'stard and I live on the way back to the station and I know most of them locally !

Good call by the MET though !

Wife said on the night as we past a bus-stop with some 'dodgy' lads in, lets take our shoes off and run.. I said 'Run where??'!!

Within a few mins, the met helped us!

Sounds like they did you a solid there matey :) Result

I had a classic incident in Sheffield with me Dad and brother in law and cops. Basically we were heading to a blues concert across town, myself, brother in law, and dad in one, and my sister, stepmum and sister in another. Their taxi took them straight there, but ours didn't know the venue, and my brother in law only knew that it was near the fire station.

We decided to get out at the fire station, and start walking. As we walked past the cop shop next door, I spotted a couple of PC's loading up a Panda, so wandered over, and asked them for directions. They told me where to go (across the road and up a 1 way street), so we set off on our way. 2 minutes later, a police car with lights on comes flying up the 1 way street the WRONG way!!?? They pull up beside us, and the PC apologizes for giving us duff information, and told us to hop in and they'd give us a lift!! He then 3 point turned, went back down the street the RIGHT way, made a right at the left only junction at the bottom!!!:lol:

In the meantime, the girls were wondering where the hell we were, and jokingly said to the bouncers when a police car started heading up the street towards them, that 'this'll be them now!!' - the look of shock on the girls and the bouncers faces was a picture when the PC got out the car and let the 3 of us out of the car (childlocked rear doors)!!!

Police +10 on that occasion!! :D :D

5 shootings in one night?? sod that!

ive only had 3 encounters with the police. once was being done for speeding, second was being pulled over for overtaking. lol

and the third was because i was making 'foam angels' in the centre of York when someone put bubble bath or fairly liquid in the fountain!

"excuse me sir! did you do this?"

'no, its bloody brilliant though isnt it :D'

"not really, i think maybe you should go home?"

'yeh, ill go get a taxi'

"bit wet for a taxi arent you? hahaha"

at least they didnt do me for drunken disorderly :D
