The Magnificent Historical Event Today.

Wouldn't that negate the whole purpose of a forum?

A forum is to bring people together, to hear other opinions, not to stand holding a big sign with the words "Only post if you agree with me!"

But why would I post in the football thread if I didnt like football. I dont look at many threads as they have no interest!

This whole thing is of general interest.

To be clear: I've always thought that Elizabeth Windsor was a decent person who did her best in a very difficult situation,

It's the hangers on, the sycophants and the foolish who I feel entitled to criticise and the three ring circus they've made of her funeral.

Well she planned it so blame her!!!

I wonder just how accurate that claim is (not your reporting of it).

I suspect that she may have tried to tone it down a bit, rather than anything else. She always seemed to understand the power of understatement, presenting herself as an ordinary person placed in an extraordinary position.

I really do despair sometimes. :headbang:

The OP requested this thread be kept civil and respectful. I am here to enforce that now and I won't let it get dragged through the mire.

Knock it off, or thread bans will ensue, possibly more. There will be no more gentle reminders like there have been in other threads.

Now, back to the purpose of this thread please. :police:

There is no other country in the world that can do what was done on Monday, IMHO. To see my fellow servicemen and women, alongside police and all the other agencies, creating the spectacle that we witnessed was truly magnificent. The days and hours of rehearsals obviously paid off and HM was given the send off that she deserved.

I agree that the extreme close ups of HMK did seem quite intrusive; I commented to my wife that he looked quite 'broken' for most of the day - which is to be expected given that he was burying his mother. I truly hope that the Royal Family now get the chance to privately mourn their great loss whilst they are in their own period of mourning.

Looking ahead, the Coronation will be another spectacle, which I am greatly looking forward to.
