My wife was talking to a friend a couple of days ago and the friend was told during a meeting not to use the expression "brainstorm" or "brainstorming" as epileptics could find it offensive. Who the **** thinks up these things.

Did everyone hear about Scarborough canceling their annual switching on of the Christmas lights? It was for 'health & safety' reasons. They were scared someone might get hurt in the crowd. Instead of a celeb switching them on, they set a timer to switch them on at a secret time. :bang:

Yet another reason why I'm here.
According to the BBC in 2003 for British Citizens there was "a net outflow of 85,000 people".
Reports like this (and taxes, other PC rubbish etc etc) are driving people away in droves. I for one admit to loving the sunshine here but it wasn't the primary reason I left. Respect for one's fellow man and a sensible living environment are my prime requirements, unfortunately I don't think they exist in UK any more and I don't have the time to try and change it.
I served for 23 years in the RAF and one reason for doing so was that I thought the UK was worth it, I probably wouldn't join these days.

I showed that article to a friend who is currently in the final stages of training to be an H&S guy, and his comment.... "that's exactly the kind of rubbish that gives sensible H&S a bad reputation." He commented that they have NO duty of care as long as they have not left the premises insecure enough that a vandal can just walk in without forcing any kind of entry. One wonders how much of it is fear on the part of the council of counter claims for injuries from the poor little mite that happened to fall over something while daubing the walls with his art :bang:

Depressing, but should we really be surprised? Everyone shrinks in horror these days at the mere suggestion of any health and safety risk however slight, even unlikely - it's the big sacred cow of the moment, propagated by empire builders in Health and Safety Departments, but it really has reached lunacy proportions. :bang:

Unfortunately I have to agree there are so many jobsworth people who have not really got a job so spend all of their time dreaming up stupid ways to protect the a**holes in society, it may be a bit draconian but bring back public humiliation before they start putting H&S on bog paper with little notes of not to scrape to hard for fear of chaffing
. There are obviously too many people with too much time on thier hands including our public health people (next a mixture of oxygen, nitrogen and all the other gases we breath as air will be cancerous). I don't ever remember there being that much need for safety you were just taught not to be a dims**t!!Based int herecent news of perhapos a return of the cold war maybe in large letters up the side of an ICBM there should be a H&S that nuclear fallout may cause headaches and minor irritations

Good one, not allowed to stay in in case you hurt yourself, and not allowed to go out in case you hurt yourself, not allowed to smoke, not allowed to drink, breathing is dangerous, all food is inherantly carcenegenic, water is full of minerals and stuff that will probably kill you in 10000 years, erm what else is there

NO, that causes all sorts of complications, new kids, they may get hurt during birth, not allowed to use contraception because thats not guaranteed and ANY chance you could give birth to a child and it get hurt during or after birth would mean you getting arrested and done for child abuse !

Fraid not. Might lead to procreation which then you would be held liable for all of the above H&S Issues from bringing the poor defenceless little one into contact with. Plus also requires breathing thus expelling more gases into the atmosphere.
