Thought this might interest some people. This is what came out of the camera, I left the space on the left for text in the magazine...

This was processed and sent on to Custom Car magazine like this...

They rang and asked if I could make it portrait, I pulled in the sky from another shot I took...

And then it was used for the cover...

I have a friend who does a lot of aero photography for magazines, his golden rule is never crop as the magazines prefer to crop for their own purposes.
Also leave lots of space so the editors can put headlines where they want.
I haven't seen it so well demonstrated as mthe above car photos.

One thing I noticed, they don't like pics taken on-the-huh, they straightened it for you. Didn't matter here, but why do so many 'tographers do this? Well done for getting a front cover by the way...Good on you, and a nice pick-up too!

I have this issue on my desk now - my stepmother is restoring one very similar (though not a merc edition!)
Lovely to see the process as I was wondering about the photography yesterday! What a coincidence.

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing this!

No problem :)

I try not to do this too much, I'll upload the rest of the set later and you'll see that this was probably the only one like this, I chose the top of the building as the straight line on this shot.

Cool :) It's a great truck, there are loads of cool things coming out of Burham Autos at the minute. I'm trying to get my pennies together to get them to do some work on my '57 Chevy.

Really interesting thanks for sharing that.

I love the way you managed to pull a sky in and making it look completely natural in the way the light is reflected on the car. Brilliantly done.

How exciting for you !!!!!!!!!! Good on ya for having the "eye" in the first place to see the shot. Really pleased for you.
