I had been planning a trip to Glencoe on Monday for a day of photography, unfortunately the weather forecast has taken a turn for the worst, real feel temperature of -22 and freezing rain now forecast

I've got the day off and 250 miles I need to use in my car, I checked the forecast for the Lakes and it seems a lot more agreeable. I don't really know the area though, can anyone recommend a location for sunrise, early morning shots?

Any information at all on the area would be appreciated.

Yeah, if your coming up the m6 i'd say the same, ullswater then maybe over kirkstone pass, then windermere-ambleside and up towards grasmere, then carry on to keswick, from there easy to get back onto the m6 and makes a good circular route too

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll head for Ullswater, unless the forecast for Glencoe improves drastically tomorrow!

If you are heading to Ullswater ... check out Patterdale for accom and easy access to the lake ;-)

If you're into your hill walking too - there's also a great walk up Hellvellyn via Striding Edge from here too ;-)

Anth.

South Lakes turn off head for Windermere then Kirkstone pass & Troutbeck
Go over Kirkstone pass shots of Brotherswater from the pass & Ullswater (as long as its clear) Nice shots looking North
head down to Brotherswater (shots) then to Glenridding get to Aira force (waterfalls shots) Take the turning just before the falls up to Dockray (A5091) Shots of Ullswater from this road looking South.
(Now there are shots if you like walking, from the other side of the lake but you must turn round and head North for Pooley Bridge along the side of Ullswater then head south from Pooley B along the lake to Martindale)
otherwise head for the A66 to Keswick on the 5091
And there is more (Do you like walking ???)

Thanks again, I', gonna be down for about 0630-0700. Hopefully get some good shots to post on here!

Your right it truely lovely there! We stayed at troutbeck last year in a little log cabin and the car trip up and down the kirkstone pass was very memorable and somewhat scary in parts! We even shot a video of us going up!

Unfortuately the weather wasnt very good (as we did go in unsunny July!) but the scenery if not our photos was truely breath taking!

Enjoy!!
