Well explained mate.

The Media are make a huge deal over such a small story.

The female was kept separate from the men  , big deal. Since when did have mixed prison in the UK.

They were held for 15 days  , you'll get held here for 30 days without being told why, and then just let go without any charge and this government wanted 90 days.

Lots of fuss over little story, nobody was killed or even hurt.

Nope don't for a minute believe our gov't but the original coordinates that Iran gave were in Iraqi waters also so I find it easier to believe the brits, americans and Iraqis over them. I agree that fighting back would have been idiotic and I'm not sure I believe that girl wrote those letters. Valid point about the translation!

And whether it is fair or not we are still held to not making statements while being held captive. We aren't taught like the SAS or Rangers about resisting torture but we are given guidelines to help us.

I'll just quote what I think
don't for a minute believe our gov't
.

That about sums up my belief in Blair and the rest of this government

the guy ure talking about in the first gulf war was named peters. a tornado pilot.he was the one beaten up....the other guy...nichol..sang like a bird.....

As for why they never resisited....the officer said it right on tv tongiht....they were outnumbered by gunboats and rpg's.....
resistanc ewould have meant certain death and a major diplomatic incident..he acted correctly...
but what gets me as an ex army guy was that they were in radio contact with their ship and they could have sent fast attack choppers to intercept the iranians and a show of strength may have just stopped the incidient developing...not to mention an air show could have arrived within half hour to put the wind up the iranaians...but they back now so we should imlement a surgical strike on a major nuclear or miltary installation..just to show whose the boss..

Not sure whether it's a small story or not.15 of our soldiers were captured and imprisoned by another country......

However, what makes me shake my head is the media attitude. Yeah they're making a meal out of it now. Did anyone see ITV lunchtime news with Julian Mannion?

"We were the first media crew to ask the Iranian president about the situation". Big deal, you cornered him after prayer and asked him a few questions, then when you realised he didn't understand English and was wandering off, you asked him a question, in the hope he would nod, and you would plaster it all over the world.

News isn't news anymore, it's a serious of witch hunts. Reporting from outside victims houses isn't news, it's an intrusion. Reporting from the sailors 'home town of xxxx' isn't news. Why? Because you have the local train station in the background, makes your channel more appealing? lol

Gah, news channel rant over :p

Some very thought provoking posts here. I'm just pleased they're all back home safe and unharmed.

You could offer to shoot the cover for them.
