The iOS 7 Thread

If you want to have a play with it then you can always get a US account

Have they announced when iOS7 will be released to the general public (I remember when 5 and 6 were released it was a madhouse with people updating their phones)

The simple look is growing on me - at first I agreed with Ben that it looked a bit childish but I think its simplicity is a refreshing look. Having said that, I'm keen to see if the functionality improvements are worthwile - hopefully so.

Compatibility chart (which does show iTunes Radio as US only).

A friend of mine has the beta version, and it looks great a welcomed update but still feel apple, and it's sped his phone up so much I'm guessing as the icons aren't so graphic intensive it's freed alot of processing power up, but I was impressed and can't wait to get the official release

I have the beta and its really buggy still... The overall experience will be better once released. But as the first apple beta for IOS4 there will be a lot of changes done before the public release. On a side note if you want to try the beta just use ebay to get your phone registered on a dev account for £2. I have the file if anyone can't find it.

software developers in "borrowing" ideas shocker.. :D

like I keep saying I don't think anyone is under any illusions that all of IOS7 is completely revolutionary with never seen before features. but like even joe said in the other thread, theyre "new" to IOS.

e: smiley added in case the tongue in cheek wasn't obvious :)

i have it on my iphone 5 and only had one crash so far
it has some nice touches and is a nice refresh of the software

I installed the theme (no need for the actual beta version) and the 3rd party icons don't look hugely out of place as they are.

I'm putting it down to how bright the colours are on the new icons, it's just like a big mish mash of colour. The 3D look of the third party apps just fades away into insignificance.

I was quite surprised when iOS 7 was revealed to be available for the ipad 2 and iPhone 4. Age wise both devices are a bit over the hill now, and I can't see the iPhone 4 coping too well with the graphically intensive parts of iOS 7 (like the parallax, which I suspect apple might disable on it)

do we actually have any IOS app developers here anymore?

I don't, xcode being a steaming pile of <expletive> that makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a spike. One of my colleagues is doing something at the moment (IOS port of an android app we have written) and has just this morning nabbed my personal iphone for testing purposes. However, my phone will only support up to IOS 4.2, so not relevant to this topic.

I've never liked that you have to pay apple to upload an application you have written onto your own telephone, and once your subscription to this service ends they disable your application. Miserable wotsits.

Mr Scrivens actively develops I believe.

We are registered, so have access, but I don't do the development, someone else does that, I just do the testing :)

Anymore as in ever or anymore for 2 weeks (can't keep track of him, he should be renamed Okie Cokie)

lol, Oops
