when you are the best in the field you will always get criticism.
Why is everybody having a go at Apple then ?

Meh looks gimmicky to me and much of what's 'new' Android have been doing for some time...

Hans Christian Andersen once wrote a story about people with an unswerving dedication to The Emperor.....when you are the best in the field you will always get criticism. It goes hand in hand - some from those who have too high expectations due to products being the best and others from those who hate the fact they are the best.
Which probably means more people are on the latest Android OS than iPhones sold.im surprised anyone knows what android has been doing since only a third of android users even have the latest os
You missed outits also not just about what is being done but how. let the competition do something, if it works, then copy it and do it better than them. Winning formula!
But Miss... He started it.....yeah but my penis is bigger.
wait, am i in the right thread?

just installed spotify to give it a test against the itunes radio
as usual apple have got the interface bang on and its much better designed than the spotify one.
The downside to me seems like on spotify you can choose simply listen to an entire album from an artist. On itunes radio it looks like it is just playing music based on an artist - so similar tracks etc rather than being able to listen to the whole album for example. Like Last.fm
but who knows maybe this will change on release?
it is of course also free with adds on your mobile devices unlike spotify
That's not a bad word for it actually. It's almost as though Ive threw certain app icons out to his design team and said it was free beer for the winner.
There's no consistency in the design and certainly no harmony or thought given to the basic principles of good interface design, which smacks of too many spoons in the pot.
Even within the apps, there's no consistency or fluidity to the design.
It's a mish-mash of though processes which, as a whole, ends up as a disjointed mess :shake:
Yeah, you have to pay for quality. As I said, Itunes Radio is not a competitor to Spotify as Spotify is streaks ahead. It offers radio services similar to iTunes Radio and Last.fm but also offers a hell of a lot more - for £10 a month you can sync over 3,000 tracks to offline so can listen to them without the need for mobile coverage. When Apple offer something similar to that, it might start to become interesting.
So you'd need storage space for 3000 songs?
Obviously. No different to purchasing songs through iTunes - although most people will only offline sync 'starred' tracks or 30 or so albums and delete the ones they don't listen to very often, every now and again.
Even if you only sync 30, that's basically £4 an album per year. It's excellent value.

apple aren't going to offer that. because its stupid.
Streaming is where the future is going, not downloading offline tracks - that was maybe useful 5 years ago.
Itunes radio is free. Even the non ad version is going to be less than £20 for the whole year. £10 a month or I get to listen to 33 minutes of content a day - ridiculous. I just deleted it off my mac.
the only thing spotify has going for it is this ability to play a whole album or individual songs from the album. If itunes radio adds that feature it's going to kill spotify overnight.
Yeah, but it doesn't add to what's already out there. Dog turd is free, doesn't mean I'd eat it over a nice steak. Radio streaming apps based on your music tastes are a dime a dozen. If anything will prevail in that area, it will be #music (which uses parts of the Spotify service) or Google Play Music All Access.
Last.fm already do what Apple are doing, as do Pandora as do Rdio, as do a million others - and they're all free too. In fact, iTunes radio is basically just Pandora, whereas Google's release is Pandora, Spotify and iTunes rolled up into one.
£10 a month is great value for Spotify seeing as you'd never have to buy music again if you didn't want to. The ability to be able to play any song/album you want rather than a radio service is a pretty huge thing to have going for it! The fact they include a radio service too just adds to its superiority.
£10 a month isn't as great as free seeing as you'd never have to buy music again.
In the last 3 years I have bought 22 albums. At an average cost of £10 per album I would have spent £220. 3 years of spotify would have cost me £360. If on year 4 I decided I didn't want to spend £10 a month anymore what happens to my £360 investment? Buying that music outright cost me less and I can listen to it forever.
Can I still listen to that music that I paid for the last 3 years? Nope. Not that great is it really. I've spent more money on spotify and I have nothing to show for it on year 4.

Clearly they are not aiming their new service at you then (or me for that matter). The people who benefit from online subscription streaming services are people who listen to music on a very regular basis and like to listen to anything and everything.

I know you're not the full ticket Joe, so I won't put my point across like I would speaking to somebody with full capacity. But, there is nowhere online where you can get ad free, unlimited streaming for free. You are forming an argument on a non existent service.
Buying music doesn't give you access to 20 million 320kb/s mp3s, ready to stream any time you want. Your attitude is quite fanboy-ish, I must say.
by the way, back to ios7 I just saw this cool new way of seeing your multiple web pages

What's that Ross?
Where you suggesting it was similar? It's totally different
It's pretty much the same, the only real difference is that iOS has a 3D look to it...
Fairly sure if the situation was reversed there'd be a lawsuit...

Sure, there are limited ways to organise things, so why not just say we're adapting a current method?
My issue is that everything is touted as 'innovative' and 'new' when it's been about for ages! Why can't they just say 'Hey, so and so were doing this ages ago. We think it's neat and we've decided to incorporate it into our own OS'?
