 but it is working for me, right now..... very strange!

If you want to see them, go to the MyMemory website and search 'Best of British', that should hopefully find them for you.

Edit: oh and if you click through using the skimlink the forum has added and then decide to buy, the forum gets a couple of pence for the hamster too

Excellent I am in again, loved this last year and still got another camera from then too.

Will be on holiday in Spain at the time of the comp so some chance of decent sun light and some different views.

Just have to remember to take it with me along with my camera kit:lol:

Any help? ;)

I'd better develop my disposable from last year to see if it's even worth trying again :runaway:

Ooooh I'll try and do it this year! I saw some at I think £2.99 somewhere the other day. Upside of a tourist area is they're still sold.

More unsure of where still develops them! DSCL? :D

Will subscribe and write it on my calendar. Or, you know, phone.

Well I've still got a disposable camera undeveloped from my wedding in 2004 :bonk: But I may try this as well.

Perhaps we need a competition for the oldest / most unusual / undeveloped disposable camera too!:)

 I swear somewhere in a storage box is an old 110mm film from my first ever camera! I fear what may be on that! But at 30 odd years old (god that makes me feel old) I doubt it survived!

I will give this a bash.
I signed up for last year but got lazy and couldn't be arsed..........eh, I mean something cropped up :D

Any of the film processing places will do it, as will Boots, some Tesco and Asda stores; the latter will sell you a low res (variable quality) scan for £1 or so. There's a sticky on film processing in the Talk Film and Conventional forum area. There's usually 27 shots in a disposable; if there's a 24-shot price it's usually the one to use. I found Photo Express in Hull a good choice; you get a medium res scan and with a 50p TP member discount it's £4 plus £1 return postage, but postage to the processing place will be £2.60 or £3!

I had to make a quick drop in to London, picked up a couple of them Boots film disposables just for this

Now to think of what I plan to shoot

Thanks for the reminder Yv. Must get one sorted ASAP.

This sounds like lots of fun I would love to have a go ! I set my students a project a few years ago and gave them all a disposable camera each to go play with and there pictures were amazing and much better than my attempts at the time haha ! time to go searching for some disposable cameras :-)

Why do I always find these things when they are nearly finished.......

Oh well, I have got 24 hours to have a go - just need to get my backside to Asda!

I keep saying I'll get a disposable just to play with so this is perfect.. I'm in :-D

You have ages it's Aug dates not July :-D

do all the photos have to be taken in august? i have loads that i really like when i did a similar thing with a couple of disposable cameras that my friend got me as a joke, and i used them to prove to him that equipment isnt critical

Yes between 10-24 aug.. Details at the beginning of the thread

Kyle, for this competition, the photos have to be taken between the stated dates but there's nothing stopping you from starting a thread to show off your photos from other dates - the Photos For Pleasure area is probably most appropriate.

And what happens to the cameras once the film is developed? Are they disposed of, perhaps?

The cameras I used last year were both recycled with the original manufacturer's details scribbled over with a black pen and the cameras sold in cardboard sleeves. One had a flash, which flashed once and died, but the shutters and winders worked ok and the unbranded film did the job. Not bad for 99p each

Only just seen this thread, count me in again, last year was a good laugh.

where did you find those?

The 99p Store in Reading, it's next door to Poundland (seriously) at the back of Broad Street mall. I'm at work, which blocks PhotoBucket where the images are hosted, but I posted a couple of snaps of the cameras in last year's organising thread. IIRC, the flash camera was loaded with 12 shots of 400ISO and the non-flash held 24 shots of ISO200, though I might have the speeds the wrong way around.

The cases were held together with a couple of strips of electrical tape and I improved the build quality no end by sticking some duct tape over the top. :bonk:

I'll pop along this weekend and see if they have any more.

Just ordered my camera from ebay. £2.79 + postage. That'll do

dam, im no where near lol. a 24 exposure one from boots is like a fiver!

But it's buy one get one free so more opportunities for that winning pic!

Sorry.... Can't help being a bit thick after a long week.....

Will definitely join in then - no promises on the quality / compositions!

I am sure you will be fine, none us can guarantee the actual quality, thats half the fun, so just concentrate on the compositions and don't try looking at the back of the camera to check

Also meant to say, I am going to actually post two image sharing threads consecutively, so you can choose one photo for the vote thread and still post others in the general sharing thread for comments/discussion - I think that will be more fun and easier than having to wait until after the voting stage to post others.

 we are an impatient lot lol

Unfortunately the 99p Store no longer stocks single-use cameras. Probably because I was the only person who'd ever bought any, last year.

I did find some Fuji QuickSnap cameras in Asda though, 27 shots of ISO400 with a flash, £4 each or £6 including processing at Asda for a set of 6x4 prints. Not much use if you don't have a scanner at home but IIRC getting a 36-exposure film processed and scanned to CD (no prints) only costs £3-4 at Asda and can be done while you shop.

I noticed that Boots have a single use digital camera available. Same deal: no external controls, send it in for processing and get prints (and a CD?) back. I'm guessing this would count?

OTOH it's £10, but BOGOF so not so bad...

Count me in, on my honeymoon from Aug 18th to September 1st (South West USA) so I hope the submission deadline isn't too tight.

My main lens just broke with little hope of a replacement pre-honeymoon, so this will lift my spirits photographically whilst away!

Aaaaaaggghhhh, Boots near us have dropped their BOGOF offer on single-use cameras! Plan B...
