I have a good job. In fact, I have a great job. It takes me into hospitals all over the North of England. Hospitals are actually very good places for photography. Most of them have some pics on the walls taken by staff or patients. The Countess of Chester probably has the best collection I've seen and Alder Hey Childrens in Liverpool would make you cry. Manchester Royal Infirmary's are historical they are so old.
I was waiting for my appointment in one department yesterday. It was a Heamatology and Onclogy Department and on the wall was a large notice board........covered in pictures.
Not professional studio portraits, not even technically good but some of the best photos you could see. Wedding snaps, christening pics, birthday cakes, proud parents with newborn children.
These were pics of people who had been treated in the hospital and had sent in pics of them getting on with life.
Priceless.
Pictures can say 1000 words.
