Sorry this is, at present, a southern question and I suspect particularly a south eastern question.

Does anyone else wish the weather would break and this heat would go?

I'd be happy if the maximum temperature we ever had was about 20-22C; above that and I find it increasing difficult to anything other than sit and sweat. Despite getting as much ventilation as possible and keeping the sun out the temperature in our dining room is now 27C!

A bit after 1pm the sky looked like this

and I thought, great we are going to get a storm, but it all fizzled out and its baking out there now.

Dave

yep (here in the southwest) - i don't mind the sun - but the humidity is a bitch - we need a storm to clear the air.

(nice sky capture btw)

How would you guys cope out here? I don't recall the last time the max daily temp was less than 30c. The humidity has been horrible this year. It's currently 71% so even though it's only 29c it feels like 39c.

its been raining here all day not one bit of sun

rained here most of the day ....:)

some sun would be nice tho

No chance! I'm happy even in the mid thirties but loathe the wet miserable days around 10 degrees that we have so many of!

yep i wish iot would go for you too pishing it down her all day well most days!!!! next week you will be moaning it is raining!!!

I don't mind the sun its just the horribly stickiness off it.

Generally I find the heat in Spain fine - often into the high 30's low 40's during the day but more of a "dry heat"

Here now at 7.50 pm very cloudy and about 27 deg still. It feels like it's going to pee it down but no thunderclouds about... you know that feeling when a really good storm would just freshen everything up..

2 oclock today it was too much for the cat - she was flaked out with a iceblock on her... I'll try to get the pic from my phone to here!

bring on the snow is all I can say I hate hot weather

Don't mind the heat, what bugs me is the smell of burning cheap sausages through the open windows :gag:

Played cricket for the first time in 2 years yesterday...... must have been at least 30C!!!

To say I'm suffering now is an understatement...... but that's another story!

A guy on our team is from Pakistan and he said the heat was as bad if not worse than where he comes from!!!! In fact he went on to say it's waaaay more uncomfortable here because of the humidity and lack of breeze.

We complain when it's cold, wet or too hot!

Personally love this weather although wish I wasn't working through it all do could go and lay in it all day :)

71% lucky you, I saw on the weather today that we are peaking at 96% in some places!

Awesome! Currently 98%. It goes up as we move into night. Will even show you proof if you don't believe me.

This would have been one way to cool down over the weekend.

Certainly one of those occasions where I'm so glad to be no longer a tomato greenhouse worker. Boy, how did I cope with that when things got hot? And it was something I did for nearly two decades! :gag:

PS: Nice capture of altostratus undulatus, Dave. :)

It's been like that since June though :gag:, and as Lynton said normally it's a far drier heat, which is fine.

Thanks for the comment on the photo, Pete. It was a grabbed shot; the cloud was in turmoil, it looked like something out of Lord of the Rings, but it came to nothing.

Lynton, that is a great cat.

That's the whole point. Humidity this year has been brutal and for the first time I've not enjoyed a summer. Heat good. Humidity bad.

shush don't tell her... she will get ideas above her status!

LOL, Lynton, know what you mean.

We have only had a cat (semi-feral beastie) for a couple of years but I now understand the "superior" view cats have of themselves.

If she is anything like mine, she already KNOWS she is at the top of the pile!

........why else would I end up with approx 3 inches at the side of the bed whilst the cat is stretched out ACROSS the rest?

Figures, Smigures, all I know is, that its real "Betty Swollocks" weather. :(
That's all I need to know ;)
:D

Thousands of years ago, the Egyptians worshiped cats as Gods.
Cats, for their part, have never forgotten this fact :D

That cat is a dead spit of my new ward!

:lol::lol:
That and the accompanying ghetto blaster of 80's songs on in their garden

Absolutely not, would love to wear shorts & t-shirt all year round

Saw a friend of mine at the weekend, he was home from Dubai where the temperature was 54c when he left

I don't mind the heat during the day. It's at night when I settle down to sleep that I struggle with it. Restless nights for me in this weather.

I complain a lot when it's cold. I don't complain when it's pleasantly warm, like it has been over the weekend down here in the south, as I don't want it to turn cold again!

God I hate the heat, needs to be between 15-20 and not more than that. The nights are the worst, thankfully there was a nice breeze last night otherwise I was in trouble!

Wow that's hot. Hottest I've known was 46.2 in Egypt. Hottest I've felt this year was 41 in Cordoba, but it was a dry heat so nice.

im going to quote my Facebook status for my current feelings on the weather..

"I'm not claiming to be sweat free in this weather but my god people if you're going on public transport please topup your deodorant first. Or just don't sit next to me."

:gag:

All's well folks, apparently a wet & windy bank holiday ahead :)
