I thought out would be fun if we had a thread where we can post something that mystifies us and fellow TPers may help us with the answers.....

I will start it.......

Why is it as you get older life passes us by faster?

I thought we already had one, I'm mystified as to why we now have another ;)
As for your question, I think it's to do with age perception, that and you suddenly realise you may have less years in front of you than you do behind you.
 
The current* Great Mystery to me is; what is the attraction of constantly posting, and reading, banal cr*p on Facebook and Twitter.

Because ST4 and Scrivens has been enforced a sabbatical (temporary and permanent from here. They need to get their fix somehow. ;)

Because the Vagus nerve passes through the ear canal and stimulation of the area will often induce a coughing reflex. In my job as a hearing aid dispenser it's a phenomenon I encounter frequently that's common but doesn't affect everybody. I do remember one man who would have an almost uncontrollable coughing 'fit' whenever anything was placed in his ear canal, his was a fairly extreme response.

It doesn't (of course) your brain 'slows' down and you spend more time unaware of time passing so it seems to have gone quicker.

It's not just that, it's the perception of time which changes too.

When I was at school around 1980, if anyone mentioned anything which happened in the 1960s it seemed like they were talking about something centuries ago. Now if someone mentions the 1980s or 1990s it seems as if it was a few months ago.

Why does my daughter's cheap video camera, that only has digital zoom, have a variable aperture noted on the lens?
 
Why do people flogging a camera often make it a selling point that the strap is not used and unopened?

Why do they remove the pin from petrol pump handles that prevent you from leaving the pump to fill up while you clean the windscreen/check your oil etc (they all have automatic shut off)
 
Enough to give you an unwanted headache ;)

Many thanks for that - perhaps I should have said diesel which negates most of their argument. I understand that lorry drivers pumps still have the lock

Life (time) is completely static, but as we get older we move more slowly:)

On PETROL pumps, it's because there have been instances where the handle has been dropped and petrol has poured over the forecourt causing a fire hazard (and possibly a fire). On Diesel pumps for cars, it's to stop the same thing causing slippery puddles and smelly car carpets. Lorry drivers all smell anyway so the Diesel acts like an air freshener in their cabs... ;)

I kind of assumed it had to be linked to vitamins etc, but surely there are many more fruits that have more vitamins in them..?
I know I used to spit the pips out at people in other beds when I was in hospital and that helped pass many a boring hour..
 
Apparently, it started with the Romans. Being big wine lovers, but not fully understanding the fermentation process, they gave grapes to sick folk thinking they'd benefit from the warm fuzziness felt through wine consumption.
We should make this into a Call My Bluff thread ;)
