Hehe, my photo in that certain social network web site got to you, didn't it? I'm afraid that's it for the "summer" where you are.

Indeed, today has been a lush gorgeous day where I've been on a long bike ride (sorry Toby!). I have even seen people looking easily being comfortable laying on the beach catching some sun this afternoon (where it felt warm in the sunshine when in west-facing sheltered areas).

Southern and Eastern parts of the UK should have another fine, sunny and settled day tomorrow, and it will try and feel warm in any sunshine in sheltered areas. However, the South West of England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland will stay overcast and damp.

Then on Sunday that damp and overcast stuff over Scotland will work it's way slowly south-eastwards to affect the North and West of England as well as Wales. However the far South East is likely to stay dry and bright.

Then next week is likely to be generally cool and unsettled for most parts, although the far South is likely to pick up the best of any brighter spells.

Anyway, have a good weekend whatever the weather!

Well it seems as though we had our 1st "proper frost"
I left home at around 08:15 Saturday morning and had to scrape, yes scrape,
not just wipe the frost from the car.
It did turn into a nice sunny and warm-ish day though

Hi Cobra, living right next to what is still a warm English Channel had prevented a frost from taking a hold last night, in fact it felt quite mild. Indeed, the sunny spell continues as we have just ended the third complete day involving uninterrupted sunshine. If only we had this kind of thing in July or August.

However, it's allllll change tomorrow as an active squally cold front sweeps south-east wards across the UK as we go thorugh the day.

Morning Ian and everyone! It's starting to look autumnal here - trees turning etc. Is it my imagination of is autumn late in the south this year?

We've had a few lovely misty mornings - till haven't had time to process the pics :( and heavy rain overnight Monday/Tuesday.

Chris - no frost here yet! ;)

Jean

Cor blimey! Completely agree with you Jean!

Finally hit home that Autumn is here today... Woke up to absolutely howling winds, and horizontal rain... and then hail as I was waiting for my bus - that was extremely late! Finally got into Uni, to the fine tune of more heavy rain... then get into my lecture to find the sun comes out, and produces an absolutely beaut of a double rainbow (being in a geography class we were allowed to have a look :) ) Both rainbows were complete! Then walked out of my lecture to those great autumnal days of glorious sunshine and that nice crisp air... lovely old job! ;) Want to bung my shorts on now to make the most of the sunshine

Hope everyones well :)

Hi Guys not had a lot of rain here there was a little overnight mon / tues.
and a few spots tues day time.
Mostly its been cold and clear with a bit of a stiff breeze, though today was much lighter
in that respect.

And a good afternoon from a very bright and sunny Folkestone, but much fresher and cooler too. Had the heating on for the first time this morning, only for an hour to fend off what was the first frosty toes and fingers of the season.

Mornin' Ian - Planty of frosty toes and fingers this morning I imagine. First frosts here. Chris's fault, I bet! Please can we have summer back, even if it wasn't brilliant? :)

Toby - Well at least if you have to do meteorological studies you'll collect plenty of data with that lot! Hope it's all going well.

Mornin' Jean! Indeed - and much to my surprise given my Channel coastal location - I, too, got to see a slight frost early this morning (only on cars and felt roofs - but a frost is a frost).
Gorgeous sunshine right now, just that it feels quite cold!

Share and share alike :p
Actually bloody chilly here this morning but no frost.
(well at 6am anyway)
Light breeze with mostly clear skies.
Not a bad day for flying longwings on a land fill :)

Alright for some, I went out at 8am and it must have rained in the night, had to scrape think ice off the windscreen :(
Ben bright and sunny all day though :)

You're far too kind!!! :p :D

Scraping ice of the windscreen is no way to start the day! There's a fortune to be made by the car manufacturer who comes up with a way of stopping ice forming on car windows! (Other than putting it in a garage/living in a hot climate)

The sunshine's lovely, Ian. The cold spoils it! :( It makes me feel very grumpy. :(

Well fortunately I'm off work at the moment otherwise it would be a 5.30 windscreen scrape and that's no fun

Mornin' everyone.

Does look like Summer will give off one last gasp as we go into the weekend. While it will be staying dry and bright over Southern and Eastern parts of the UK, but it will tend to become warmer again - up to 19 C by Sunday and perhaps into Monday.

Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland will continue to stay overcast and damp, though.

Its going to rain here tomorrow that will be the first time since April.

Ingrid - 5.30??? You don't mean 5.30 am, do you? Eeeek! You deserve a medal.

Jean

Awww thanks Jean, you get used to it after 20 odd years

We'll take it while we can then Ian
Been a mild if not somewhat cloudy day, but dry day so far.

Sorry, Ingrid - correction to my earlier post - you deserve a whole row of medals! ;)

I hope you can still find your umbrella! :)

Well, that's ok, Ian. We're off to Cuba for 2 weeks on Monday! I won't send you weather reports from there - it might make you all feel p***ed off! Although there are thunderstorms around down there at the moment!

Jean

Well its started sunny but the clouds are coming this way..

Afternoon all from a sunny but quite wind and cold Folkestone. Made the mistake of popping out to get the paper in just a t-shirt and jogging bottoms and came home looking like a plucked chicken.
Mind you, all this wind and the continued lack of rainfall is still of some concern especially since reservoir levels are still very low around the South East. I'm starting to think that the metered water supply concept is a good idea after all.

Anyway, Jean, enjoy your holiday break and don't worry, you won't annoy me with your stories of heat. After 20 years of working in a hot and humid tomato greenhouse I've come to dislike heat anyway, hehe.
BUT, I will envy you if you do get to see any thunderstorms! I do love a good photogenic thunderstorm but it has truly been a long time since I last got to see one of those.
Hope you will take lots of photos, and if you do, you are welcome to drop them off in here. :)

Pretty much clear blue sky here today, the breeze is a little chilly though.
There is still some warmth in the direct sun,
(the hawks are drip drying, following thier bath, as I type this :D)
Its "low teens" but not bad for late October :)

Hi Chris, I was going to go on a bike ride today, but the cold and fresh wind and me being too chilled out and comfortable indoors had put me off, hehe. :D
I'll try and be a bit more active tomorrow as it's likely to be that little bit warmer. Need to get some more exercise on as I'm slowly putting on weight! (I'm only 11 st 4 lb, but that's the heaviest I have ever been in all my life!).

Six hours rain and I'm fed up with it already

Rain? What's that. :D :D :D

Noticed that you're in Spain. Going by the satellite images, it looks largely clear over there, apart from a slow moving thunderstorm over the far southern tip (close to Gibraltar). Is that where you are?

Hi, me again.

Without sounding like a Daily Express article, I think it is worth issuing a heavy rain alert for the following areas:

The South West of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, North West England and Western Scotland

That event will take place tomorrow and into Tuesday. Localised flooding may be a possibility in those affected areas.

As that rain area try to edge eastwards on Tuesday, that will lose it's integrity. In fact, part of the South East and Eastern side of England may even stay dry altogether!

Just checked the Met office (ok I'll wash my mouth out :D)
and looks like I'm staying dry until weds night / Thursday morning ;)

Indeed, always a good idea to check out the official sources anyway. :naughty: :D

I do keep an eye on the met office for this area,
for the day to day stuff, but rely on you for the "long distance stuff" ;)

Bliimin British weather - at least it's never dull :D
We just had the most wonderful weather yesterday. Just a few fluffy white clouds in a deep blue sky.
In this piccy, believe it or not; I wasn't using a polariser and haven't touched the saturation.

Thanks, Ian. All packed and ready to go at 4.30 am tomorrow!! I wouldn't mind a couple of good thunderstorms, provided it's not too windy to go out with the camera! ;)

Chris - thanks. I'll think of you all in wet and windy UK when we're lounging on the beach with a mojito or three! :)

Me and Trudi live in the mountains just outside of Malaga.. 24 klms to be exact heading for Granada. :)

Mornin' all (Hi Chris!) you awakenin' souls from what is still a bright and dry Folkestone.

Just looked at your web site, Duncan. Wow, looks like you had a lot of fun on that particular day. Lovely colours in those photos (but hope nobody in photo 28 was hurt!).

Jean, have a fab holiday. Your mission is to get at least one noteworthy weather-related photo out of it, haha.

Aaah, Paul. Just noticed your location underneath your avatar. Actually, it does look set to be an unsettled week for you.

Hi Ian..

You live in my neck of the woods when I lived in the UK. Born in Canterbury and lived in the Deal /Dover/ Eastry areas, not far away.

PS.. Its raining as I type this post.... Barhumbug
