I know this is an old thread but thought I'd add my vote too.

My husband bought an XF1 for my 40th birthday in 2014. I never felt it performed very well from the start and to be honest didn't hardly use it for quite a while. When I did start using it I found that it kept over exposing all the images - at first I thought it was me not understanding the controls properly and wondered if I'd accidentally pressed something which was making it over expose everything but after about 12 months I decided to reset it back to factory settings to see if that sorted the problem. It didn't.

Although the camera still works it is totally unuseable as the images are so ridiculously over exposed I might as well be taking a picture of a piece of white paper. Of course by then it was out of the guarantee and b****r all I could do about it - did a search and found out its a common fault and Fuji basically won't do anything to help.

To say I'm fed up is an understatement - what was supposed to be a nice present has ended up being an unuseable camera that I might as well throw in the bin :(

This makes me not want to buy any Fuji gear. The Amazon feedback is appalling and Fuji are playing dumb. It's a dissemble bid on YouTube showing you the problem. Any tech minded could try and repair it.

Mine died two weeks after the warranty ran out. I had used it probably once a month for a total of about 400 shots. Emailed Fuji 3 times with no reply so posted on twitter and got it sorted out. Had to chase them up to sort out the repair though. Upto now its been fine.

Spoke to soon, used it about 10 times since i had it repaired and its gone again. Same issue, lens control error

I sincerely hope that one of mine has died - it got nicked (out of my [stupidly] unlocked car.) Original one is still working fine AFAIK.

What actually fails on them? A friend of mine has started repairing cameras and lenses for a hobby and it crossed my mind the XF1 might be one to experiment with.

5 year update!
Just dug the old XF1 out of a drawer, put in the spare battery and Lo! It works!
BACK FROM THE DEAD! (Just like this thread...)

Obviously, it's going to break again very soon (I'm taking bets) but at least i can get a few more photos out of this little thing before it goes to landfill. Such a shame - I loved this camera (maybe my favourite I've ever owned). If only Fuji had designed a better ribbon cable...

I'm interested to hear what happened to everyone else's - did they all finally die, or are some in limbo in drawers somewhere? Get them out, power them on and lets see if any can defy fate.
