There's been a few reports here of XF1's going wrong. Really, really wrong.

I wanted to get a feel for how many have gone wrong - but also, in the interests of fairness, how many are still going strong.

So spread the word - let's do a survey!

Haha, yes curious about this myself as I nearly bought one, they still seem to command decent money secondhand so they can't all be duff!

I miss mine :( it was awesome ( read : I'm awesome obviously as it's the photographer not the camera right, but hey )

Mine failed just a little over week outside warranty, fujifilm did not want to know. They wanted me to pay for it, not paying £85 for a fix even though it was a lovely camera. I loved using it, the images were lovely. I am letting mine go for spares via my local free paper..It was fun while it lasted :(

Oh this is worrying considering I've just hit the order button. How do they fail?

J

There is no 'Both mine were perfect until i sold them to the unsuspecting new owners' option? Disappointed in you to say the least.
I thought about it, but I'm not one bang on about the past and settle old scores publically.

Oh, wait. I just did. :D

Just to add a little fairness, I have 2 and both are working fine and are out of warranty. Only able to add 1 to that option though!

The wifes is still working fine *sods law it'll b****r up now I've voted that option lol*

Did you use the zoom ring, or do you leave it at the wide angle ?

I use the zoom ring - it beats walking!!! (As well as the short end, of course.)

Results so far are not looking good for Fuji... 13 votes, 7 dead cameras. Even allowing for Nod's 2 (why?) that's still a 50% failure rate for what was originally sold as a 'premium' camera.

Because the first one I bought is light tan and when I bought my current car (coincidentally an XF...) it didn't match the leather interior so when Currys were knocking them out cheap I bought a black one to keep in the car as well. Means I always have a decent camera handy when I'm out in mine and have forgotten to grab a bag.

LOL love it Nod!

I am genuinely surprised by this thread though, I assumed they would all be dead by now :D Do they suffer the same fault or are they just badly put together?
Seems a few are still going strong.

I wonder where they were put together? Mine said Japan, I wonder if they were really put together some place else, with poor quality control?

My first one was quite an early example - went in to try an X-10 and a Nikon V-1 as pocketable compacts but neither really are (for a shirt or fitted jacket pocket.) Slightly ironically I have since bought (and still have) both anyway, as well as an X-30 (and also had an X-20...) Still got the XF car and considering changing to the estate version but will almost certainly resist any temptation to go for the Phase One XF digital MF system!!!

I reckon we should put up our best shots with the xf-1 just to show how how amazing it was / is

Some of the best ones I got, were of the missus pouting doing her make up. So I wont be able to put them up.

Mine is still working fine. In cases like this it is always the problems that are reported.

Bought mine from David (Minnnit) with a lovely green skin, it developed focus + over exposure issues at anything past wide angle, so had it fixed under warranty and touch wood its been fine since then

Ditto.

Mine's now 3 weeks out of warranty and so far has been fine. I fully expect it to have turned into a pumpkin next time I go to use it!

It is a great camera but that lens does feel fragile.

The lens on mine makes a real grating noise when you turn it. Is this normal?

Mine made that noise also. I put mine in the local free ads for spares, but nobody is interested. I might open mine up, and investigate. Well it's knackered anyway, so does not matter! Does anybody know bit goes wrong ?

Despite the grating noise, it still works.

The only real problem I've had is half the lens cover stuck open but that's fixed now.

Mine died two weeks after the warranty ran out. I had used it probably once a month for a total of about 400 shots. Emailed Fuji 3 times with no reply so posted on twitter and got it sorted out. Had to chase them up to sort out the repair though. Upto now its been fine.

Out of interest, could you all list the first 3 digits of the serial number? I'm just wondering if this is a small batch that are effected.

J

My wifes just died today, Lens Control Error. Bought April 2014. Not had massive usage either.
