As one of my colleagues and PfCO NVQ instructor pointed out, the standard of reporting is abysmal. Not only are they quoting the wrong year for the ANO but it is not known whether there were passengers or freight in the 737. Surely the airline would know?? It would not have taken much effort for the reporter to find out. Reference to the Airprox Board's report says the incident took place at FL100. No chance

It was on short final inside the outer marker when it happened (VASA aviaition have published the ATC-aircraft communications). Given that the photo shows work being carried out at a passenger gate then one can assume it was on a passenger flight.

The Mexican incident was most likely structural failure the dome is relatively flimsy and there are several instances where they have caved in during normal flight.

.....they would know a drone does not resemble a box and cannot fly at 10,000 feet, unless it's military(?)
Consumer drones might theoretically get up there if wildly out of control.
You'd have to take it out of the box though.

Listen to the ATC communications.....the aircraft reports 6 miles from touchdown and then reports the collision. Tijuana is a coastal city meaning taht the airport is going to be close to sea level so it's not likely that it was at 10,000' with only 6 miles to run.
 
He would hear a bang, there was no drone sighting, no drone parts were found inside or on the ground.
The official report specifically discounts the drone theory which has been seized on by media and apparently cannot be discredited.
 
I may be interested in purchasing a Mavic Pro 2 for still photography use only ( aerial landscapes etc) - can anybody point me to some full resolution images taken by this drone so I can assess its suitability for my purposes.

I don't see anything unusual here, just the somewhat crude cuts I made to shrink a ten minute video down to something more manageable.

I’m not seeing anything either.

I do maybe see a slight jitter, very faint but I would say that’s shutter speed maybe @4wd what is/was shutter speed ?

Picture look clear enough and colours are good, so could be shutter or maybe auto iso/exposure just tweaking a little bit as you pan.

I don't see big jerking but lots of small stuttering which I think is just a shutter speed/motion missmatch. The quality is great though.

I've even had one myself:

It happened in 2010, with the aircraft at around 6000' in the descent. We (my copilot and I) didn't hear any "impact" type sounds, just a crumpling sound like a can being crushed. The damage couldn't be seen from the flight deck; we knew something had happened, but didn't know what. The only unusual symptom we saw was unusual fluctuations on the LHS airspeed indicator which would have been due the the disruption in the normal airflow to the pitot head just out of picture on the right.

Oh what fun we had filling the forms in...
 
Another moron with a drone.

ALL flights at Gatwick Airport have been suspended due to a suspected drone near a runway.

All arrivals and departures have been suspended while police deal with the incident.

Twitter account FlightUpdates said: “Inbound aircraft to London Gatwick currently holding and no departures

“Reports of a drone around the runway. Some aircraft in the hold opting to divert.

All flights in and out of Gatwick have been halted after the airport received reports of two drones flying over the airfield.

An airport spokesman said: "Following reports of two drones flying over the Gatwick Airport airfield, we have had to suspend flights while this is investigated.

"We apologise to any affected passengers for this inconvenience but the safety of our passengers and staff is our foremost priority."

At this point it can't be a simple 'moron with a drone after some videos/photos' as they'd have scarpered to avoid arrest. It's got to be someone causing chaos to make a point.

life is going to be almost pointless now for hobby drone fliers.

Basis this is a deliberate act using commercial drones, what regulations could stop it.

Yes it will give more ammunition to the clueless drone police but there is nothing you can do to stop it, nothing.

I'd be happy to have registration, licence or whatever... make it cost a lot so it's taken seriously but if someone wants to do something illegal they will whether it's with a drone or a brick.
 
It appears that HMG has no plan in place for when this happens and TBW is resorting to saying that it is illegal and they’ll look at the laws again. Shows how well they are prepared for the other shocks coming next April Fool’s Day :( . Happy Brexmas!

IIRC, Eagles have been used with minor success, and yes I believe it was in the USA.
BTW Falcons would be no where near big enough or strong enough, to bring one down.
