She teaches infants I think, don't know the name of the school. Knowing her as I do, it'll be your two that have hopefully escaped. ;)

Is she a big rugby fan by anychance?

so you're saying that dinners is part of the prawn sandwich brigade!

Well, their south of the river, closer to the countryside bit of the Cheshire playground.
Great Sankey is a small hop from the industrial bit of Merseyside (where I live, even though I have a Cheshire postcode - but my kids where born in Cheshire, not Merseyside, made sure of that!)

So United are getting pelters this morning on the radio regarding Rooney's elbow against Wigan.

Seems that because the FA rules are being followed and no further punishment can be handed out - then it's favouritism towards Rooney and United.

He's guilty in my eyes but -if anyrhing the coverage the incident is getting and the cry for punishment outwith the rules is down to the fact that it's Rooney and United.

"You coming football training today Ash?"
"Yeah, just let me get my air rifle..."

WTF????

Why would there be an air rifle as Chelski's training ground?

I tell you what though, the lad who got shot, he is onto a good thing now.
Imagine how much he could get if he was to sue them? He will get even more from the club and from Mr Cole to get this out of the press ASAP.

Whilst it can't have been nice to have been shot, it was an air rifle, not an AK47, so he should/chelsea should donate to Help for Heroes etc. and also do something to reduce gun crime.

And if that happened at my work, I would have been fired on the spot!

you're forgetting that rooney was the one who threw the elbow in the first place so he deserves any negative press he gets, no matter what the outcome. Fergy is no better in my eyes for claiming it was nothing, at least phelan had it written all over his face that the boy was guilty.

clattenberg is the one that should be strung up though for claiming the punishment was just

Has anyone spotted the extra guy sat behind Man U's goal?

Apparantly Chelsea are making that work experience guy sit there all night, as he is the only target Ashley Cole can hit !!! (Boom Boom!)

I'm not forgetting anything. He deserved to be sent off and you're right that Clattenerg is the one who should be strung up.

What I find funny though is the people up in arms that nothing more is being done to Rooney (because he's a United player) despite the fact that the rules are in place. Fletcher missed a European final because no further investigation took place because the ref had made a decision and Ferdinand got a ban because further investigation did take place when the ref missed the incident. Some go our way and some don't but all have been in line with the rules.

Anyway - bit bored now of the whole Rooney thing.

Off to watch the 2nd half from as I'm sure we'll find new ways off throwing away points away from home.:gag:

i have to admit i thoroughly enjoyed that game, it was somewhat poetic that rooney who should have been suspended scored which was incredibly unfair. Then chelsea were awarded a penalty which was never a pen

Justice has been done. And before man u fans bleat about the penalty, remember that u have had a few decisions go your way.

im listening to ferguson complaining about the referee here and how david luiz should have got a second yellow and he just doesnt see the irony in this one bit.... it's brilliant.

I think it has got to a stage now where someone needs to step in and do something about the refereeing decisions and events after a match.

Clearly Rooney needed punishment for the elbow, like wise the penalty wasn't one.

It has got to a stage now with big matches that the refereeing decisions are discussed more than the game, and mistakes are happening too often.

TV reviews need to come in asap, and there needs to be some kind of Citing system, like in Rugby, so that incidents like Rooneys elbow and other bad tackles follow some kind of punishment after a game, regardless of any on pitch punishment.

I really enjoyed the game (as much as you can enjoy a defeat) but I didn't expect a great deal based on recent visits to SB.

It was great to see a match for once where both teams were going for it and it was refreshing to see a few tackles flying in from both sides. Reminded me a bit of days gone by.

I like the look of David Luiz but he was fortunate to stay on the pitch. His clatter on Rooney wasn't that bad but with a yellow under his belt already you see them go for that and Rooney knew what he was doing. I think his earlier total wipe out on Hernandez was far worse.

I think both sides created enough chances to score a few goals in fact Rooney could have had a few tonight. In the end it took a penalty which was a soft one - sometimes they're given and other times not so hey ho. Shame it was Smalling though as he's been having a great run of late.

Spices up the run in now I guess..........

The thing that concerns me is that arsenal are so unpredicatable and now with van persie and theo out i dont know if they are going to be able to do the business

A lot will depend on how they get on in the Champions League too I guess. Still think the Arsenal v United game will be key.

Oh man the irony, the irony

Quote from Ferguson regarding David Luiz:

"He does Rooney clear as day, [the referee is] six yards from it, he doesn't do anything. That changed the game"

Brilliant, I wonder if anyone has ever pointed out the irony to him.

I think all that stuff regarding Rooney's elbow against Wigan and the incidents during the Chelsea United game are discarded chip wrappers now to be honest.

Moving on.....(and not mentioning the Cricket:gag:) - good win for Arsenal in the cup tonight. Looking forward to United v Arsenal now.

Villa fans up in arms after Gérard Houllier chose to lie down against City in the FA Cup and field a very weak team despite the chance of a quarter final home tie against Reading.

Up here - no news today other than the Old Firm match. - the biggest game in the world for the pair of them but one which nobody else could care less about. So much bile but without each other they're fairly pointless.

For the record - Celtic beat Rangers 1-0

3 sent off for the Gers and - at the final whistle Neil Lenon & Ally McCoist squared up for a bit of Daily Record sales - same old same old - never a dull day.

I am waiting for the complaints form the grumpy Frenchman about the ref, the pitch, the ball, injuries etc,

Didn't have to wait long!!

as mentioned above, arsenal really dont have the quality to take advantage of the drop in points by man u, a 0-0 draw today when they could have closed the gap to 1 point. shame

I've been up at Loch Tay all day so missed the football scores.

The pundits have been banging on about how Arsenal had the easy run in - just goes to show that no games can be taken for granted.

Arsenal 0-0 Sunderland.

Liverpool V United - Thought 3 points or 1 were a must but after that result - even a defeat (which isn't ideal) keeps us going.

As usual - this game is important to United's ambitions but makes no difference at all to Liverpool's season - other than just hoping they can help somebody else.

3-0 so far to liverpool, lets hope andy caroll comes on and scores another 2.

Here's the way I hope the season goes.

Arsenal lose against barca and out of Europe
Arsenal lose to united in the fa cup after beating LO
Both of these keep arsenal with more focus at home to catch manurenited

Chelsea win on Tuesday and then Liverpool beat manure on Sunday making them drop 6 points.
Arsenal catch them and overtake them
Manure stay in the fa cup and champions league till the semis and then lose, keeping them stretched long enough to also lose out on the league
Ferguson retires because he is clearly blind as a bat for saying there was nothing in the Rooney elbow.

Liverpool win the Europa league, put together a strong finish for 5th place.

:-) a guy can hope

well its starting to go to my plan, 6 points dropped like i wanted, just a shame that arsenal messed up yesterday.

Well that was an embarrassing display from United.

I'd hoped for 2 points from Chelsea away and Liverpool away but that was on the basis of Arsenal beating Sunderland. I guess Arsenal dropping 2 points and us getting 0 points equates to the same thing in a strange kind of way. Does anybody want to win the league ???

Thought Luis Suarez looked good again today and little Hernandez keeps nicking the goals.

And they wonder why there's no respect for refs. :cuckoo:

Footballer sent off for tackling streaker

The Blue Square South game between Havant and Waterlooville and Dorchester last night descended into farce when the mankini wearing fan ran on to the pitch and disrupted play for just over a minute.

Dorchester player/manager Ashley Vickers wrestled the streaker to the floor and was then promptly shown the red card by referee David Spain while players on both sides protested.

The FA have refused to comment on the matter because of the potential for an appeal but a source within the FA told The News the sending off was likely to be rescinded as soon as possible.

Vickers said after the match: ‘I’m dumbfounded and speechless. A guy ran on to the pitch without any of the stewards getting near him and I thought I was doing them a favour.

It was a high tackle to be fair though.

As an ex referee I am ashamed to be associated with the same profession as that card happy cretin,he should never ref a game again,As a posting on the newspapers article said if the streaker had attacked the ref should the players have just stood by and done nothing for fear of a red card once the little Hitler had recoverd his composure

Well, Barca look like they will go through thanks to yet another crap ref. Abidal grabs van Persie round face and nothing, and van Persie gets booked for shooting a split second after a whistle...

No wonder refs dont get respect, totally inept.

Have any of you lot who come on here slagging off ref's ever done the job,its hard enough on a parks pitch but with a million cameras disecting every move and a load of so called experts pontificating from the comfort of the studio its a nightmare.
It's the second hardest job in the game second only to running the line and if you know the difficulty of watching the ball and the defensive line at the same time with only one pair of eyes you would not be baying at them either

Yes I have, albeit 5 aside. There are many decisions that refs get wrong and sometimes even on replays you cant tell - that happens. I cannot believe that the 3 officials failed to spot a grab round the face, BUT blowing a whistle for offside and then booking a player who shot 1 second after that for timewasting has nothing to do with cameras, or angles or anything like that. It is total incompetence and cannot be excused - or its brown envelope time!

I am frustrated as I feel that we could have held on... although Wenger has to now admit that he should have bought a couple of defenders!

Don't think you can blame the ref. No arsenal player has had an attempt at goal, even with RVP on the pitch Barca were always going to score more.
Sometimes better just to admit the better team won......not over yet though

However had RVP still been on the pitch he might have tucked that Bentner chance away!

No, I think Wenger is to blame for not buying a couple of good defenders, but it was 1-1 and we had a chance.

You can blame the ref all you want, it was a harsh sending off although I believe Van Persie heard the whistle, still it was a bit soft to send him off.

And although Arsenal in the end were within one kick of winning it, Barca totally dominated (both legs to be fair) and fully deserved to win. They are leagues above any other team in the world and have been for the past two seasons, they're incredible. Messi is an utter genius.

I've not read through all of this thread, so what i say I'm sure will have been said earlier, I'm an Aston villa fan (not that bit lol) and used to go there in the days when the likes of Bruce rioch and Trevor hockey played, great days in my opinion when football was still for the working classes, and fathers could still take there kids to watch the game on a Saturday afternoon without having to fund it from a bank loan, now it's virtually impossible to do this for the average working class family which i think is a terrible shame, not only that though as now the game is full of to$$ers and Prima Donna's who think they are gods gift, it's just a corporate game nowadays for the rich and possibly for single guys/gals who can afford to actually go and watch a game, i rarely watch a game now even on TV as quite honestly they all make me sick the way they carry on, i often wonder how much longer it can actually go on for as most clubs seem to be in the red apart from probably the top 4 in the premiership, and as in any business this cannot last forever, for Christs sake who on earth is worth £80000 a week for playing a game :bang: maybe it eventually will go backwards to the way it was, but I'm not holding my breath anytime soon, I've got better things to spend my money on these days (which doesn't include funding some twaat who is already a multi millionaire), photography for instance :D
