I think it's Moyles trying some light hearted banter whilst under pressure, but it was a poor attempt at a joke.
No real surprise there's 'outrage' over this in a sport where pretending to be hurt is rampant.

On the brightside, good result last night for Man U v Everton for the other teams

Premier League table, based on the last 5 results only

## Team ........ W D L GF GA GD Pts

19 West Ham .... 0 1 4 07 11 -4 01
20 Sunderland .. 0 1 4 00 07 -7 01

Are West Ham going down? In the proper full table they're "only" 6 points above Hull, 5 above Swansea, and 2 above Palace who have a game in hand. Their match against Swansea on Saturday is looking huuuuuuge...

Trying to work out who is most deluded - Wenger or Pep - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39541762

Surely a keeper should be mainly judged on his saving ability? At least this backs up my theory that Pep is the most over-rated manager - anyone could have had success at Barca and Bayern with the squads he had.

What a shambles that was last night..... Something has to change at Arsenal, and there's something not right inside the club.

Are all the players in bad form, or have we been punching above our weight for years and have now been found out?

What is the situation with champions league places, if manchester united win the europa (I can't imagine leicester will win the CL)?
If united win, but finish top 4, is it still just top four places?
if united win, but finish out of top 4, will it be top 4 plus united for winning europa?
Each of the links from google I looked at are outdated and refer to previous seasons

What have I been saying!!!

Bellerin and Gabriel are not premiership defenders let alone for a team targetting the top 4 and monreal is average. Add in elneny who does nothing plus a demotivated team the result was not a surprise.

Last year we were lucky all the others imploded while the weaker teams are getting stronger.

Let's get it from the horse's mouth.
http://kassiesa.net/uefafiles/2015-18-uefa-access-list-explanations.pdf

It's a bit hard going, but the key issues as I see them are that:
  • As one of the top 3 ranked associations in Europe, the English FA gets to enter 4 teams into the Champions League (UCL in UEFA-speak): the champions (CH), runners-up (RU) and 3rd-place team (N3) qualify for the group stage and the 4th-place team (N4) qualify for the play-off stage. These places are guaranteed and are independent of who wins the UCL and the Europa League (UEL).
  • The UEL title holder (TH) is guaranteed a place in the UCL play-off stage at a minimum, independently of any other rights which apply to clubs from the same association.
So, working through the possible scenarios:
  • If United are the UEL TH and also finish CH, RU or N3, they qualify for the UCL group stage (by virtue of their league position) and there are no other changes. So N4 goes into the UCL play-offs and N5 goes into the UEL. This is explained by the second paragraph of clause 1 on page 11 of the 17-page PDF.
  • If United are the UEL TH and finish N4, they enter the UCL play-off stage (having qualified for it by two different routes) and there are no other changes. So N4 goes into the UCL play-offs and N5 goes into the UEL. This is explained by Scenario 2 on page 12 of the PDF.
  • If United are the UEL TH and finish N5 or lower, they enter the UCL play-off stage (by virtue of winning the UEL) alongside N4, and N5 (or N6 if United are N5) goes into the UEL. This is explained by Scenario 4 on page 14 of the PDF.
Or to put it in a slightly shorter way:
  • If United win the UEL and finish top 4, then we have just 4 entries in the UCL.
  • If United win the UEL and finish outside the top 4, then we have 5 entries in the UCL (top 4 plus United).
Or to put it in an even shorter way:
  • Yes.

Dunno but Wenger for the next two years? Good for the rivals.
Wenger said last night he thinks you'll be struggling for 4th. I think you may be struggling to finish 6th

I'm listening to Talksport atm and they are saying what about Allardyce to replace Wenger!

My dislike of him may be clouding my judgement, but would the Arsenal fans be happy about that?

I am hoping we get 7th then get to the final and get Tonked by spurs 5-0 with them finishing 2nd or even 1st as it will only be that which will see the board act.

Laurel & Hardy would be better than what we have at the moment!!

Interesting results today.

United winning & Liverpool loosing throws the top 4 open

Arsenal v City. I was hoping for an Arsenal win even though I fancied City.

I wonder whether West Brom, Southampton, Stoke etc have realised that they're potentially playing for a place in Europe? (And if they have, do they actually want it?)

We get three slots for the Europa League - FA Cup winners, 5th placed league finish, and League Cup winners. If Man United win this season's Europa League and finish outside the top 4, they will go into the Champions League as well as the top 4. So we would have a total of 8 teams in Europe, and since both the League Cup winners and FA Cup winners would have qualified by virtue of their league positions, the Europa League slots go to the next-highest league finishers - which means all the way down to 8th.

The way Liverpool are throwing away points, it could be lucky if it goes down to 8th. :( ;)

You guys must be getting sick of Palace by now :D

Has the Refs family been released now from being held hostage. Some favourable decisions to the Arse at times.

The more I see people going on about refs' decisions, the more I wonder if we should just disregard every victory in previous years. Ref's get things wrong .... they always have done.

And they always will.

Liverpool didn't deserve to win, but if a lad stays on his feet when obviously fouled in the box, doesn't score, and then doesn't then get a penalty, what is the incentive for him to not go down next time. Indeed, any other player watching that for that matter.

I think a lot of incidents like this occur each season, without being analysed on TV. What actually prompted my post was the disallowed man city goal ... that ball barely stayed 'in' by a stitch of the ball, but from what I heard on the radio, the refs assistants should be strung up. They'll never get everything right, but I agree regards the penalty; the rules seem to be left to the ref to interpret, which often leads to errors of judgement.

The ball in the Man City game was more than a stitch in, half the ball was on the line. Difficult to see, I'm sure, but the linesman has to be 100% sure, and I can't see how he was. The problem now that the Pandora's Box of goal line technology has been opened is why can't the camera set up to show the line be used to get this decision right. :-/

I think Wenger should be given another 5 year contract...... :)
Or a lifetime contract, which given the age of him could be...... [emoji6]

Seriously, you have to admire his determination/pig headedness to do what he wants. If you're not a disgruntled Arsenal fan of course. [emoji3]

Wengers got the to a cup final, could be considered a success I suppose. However where was that Arsenal team since Christmas? If they could play like that in a semi final...

No, really, barely more than a stitch in. This is a quick low-res screen grab from the highlights video. There might be another frame that shows the ball even closer to being out - I cant be bothered to analyse it frame by frame - but I think this one makes the point.

I was just about to post the same frame myself, but decided it wasn't worth it

You have to laugh at some football fans. A caller on talksport today, ranting about Guardiolla "ruining" his football club ... maybe he should start supporting blackburn, coventry, leyton or.........

Blackpool.

Some fans get so spoilt and feel entitled for some reason, they don't know how lucky they are.

Indeed. Imagine what it's like supporting a club where fans are passing collection buckets around at games so that the club can afford to pay its wage bill.

I don't have to imagine

Our bucket collections are for regeneration when we are more than likely liquidated in June at the High Court
Staff or some of them have just received wages for March, but loads of other people are owed money.
Photographer, St John's, catering and programme makers amongst numerous others.

Ryman league here we come

Bud he is massively overrated and I don't think he is that good. Has taken them backwards.

Yeah, i've read that almost as often as wenger opinion ;)
Regardless, my point was that the caller obviously has no memory of the years before the money flooded into the club.

It is truly sickening what some owners have done to football clubs. The first game my dad took me to was at Brisbane Road, I really hope they can come back from this.

As a QPR fan, I see many fans wishing for Tony Fernandes to leave the club and new owners to come in. Looking at what's happened and Leyton Orient and Blackpool, I say be careful what you wish for!

He just has no experience at managing in a competitive league. Spain is a league of 2, sometimes 3, in Germany Bayern are in a league of their own. Although they haven't won for 5 games, first time in 22 years apparently.
