My concern is that we start changing managers every five minutes. From one of the most stable clubs for decades, we have changed managers too often for my liking over the last 15-20 year. I was shocked by his sacking, as I think he deserved more time. I would have given Rodgers till the end of the season, unless results got really bad, which they haven't been.

I hope they have a plan B in case Klopp says no, because I can't see that much quality about. Klopp was supposedly waiting for the Bayern job at the end of the season.:thinking: Would Ancelotti be there for more than a couple of years? We need stability imho.

The problem is that BR has created a sense of nervousness in the fans. We know that there is at least one awful defensive error a game that will cost us, and there is always a massive gap between defence and midfield. We also know that as soon as a fast and physical team push us around we're going to crumble. He has never addressed that effectively, and it's down to coaching.

He's changed tactics and direction so many times that everyone is confused. He's arrogant enough to think that he could change Mario into something he's not - a lone striker. s***, he's tough enough to manage when you play to his strengths!

He's a young manager who has a decent future, but it was clear that he'd lost the spark and has been floundering for months. Yes, there have been mitigating circumstances, but apart from a brief flatter to deceive mid-season upturn, last season and this have been awful.
 
Has anyone seen the 360 video on YouTube of Charlton's Jordan Cousins goal on Sunday. It's quite fun to watch. It's best watched on a phone and a spinny office chair, as you spin round, the view goes with you. Bloody clever:

I think Klopp will be a good appointment.

OK he tailed off a bit after loosing some players (much like Brenton) but I'm sure he's the right guy.

I've always liked what I've seen of him.
 
I'm glad that Klopp has been officially been announced. I'm always wary when they say it will take x number of days, because it leaves the chance for a last minute problem. :oops: :$

I thought Rodgers deserved more time, but I think Klopp is the best option. Fingers crossed it goes well. I'm fed up of changing managers. :rolleyes: :)

Interesting times are ahead. :eek:
 
Amazingly positive arrival of Klopp at Anfield. :eek: :banana: Everything's positive until they actually play football. ;) :LOL: He is a very charismatic chap so far. Fingers crossed.

Well done to Northern Ireland for qualifying for the European Championships. :clap: Truly a team greater than the sum of its parts, and long may it continue. Their fans will brighten the competition.

Unbelievably bad luck for Scotland. Not a good time to concede. :( Lewandowski is a quality player though, and going through an amazing purple patch.

Hopefully Wales can get the results they need. They need 1 point from two games, and one of the games is Andorra. ;) The other is Bosnia Herzegovina.

Well done to the Republic of Ireland beating the World Champions. :clap: I doubt few other than those wearing green would have had any belief that that result was possible. Fingers crossed that they can get the result they need to qualify automatically.

England had quite a comfortable game, but there were still mistakes, giving away possession, which I think better teams could take advantage of. The different qualifying format may make it easier for some teams to qualify, but then you don't know how good you may be when/if you meet one of the better teams. :thinking: You can only beat what is in front of you though, and that is what they have been doing. :clap:

Great time to be a Liverpool fan, I believe given a year or so Klopp will get Liverpool playing great football again. Only concern is what is considered success by the owners for him, because if it's a premier league trophy he's not going to be sticking around so long

That is the thing, what will be success, or even satisfactory. :thinking: I thought Rodgers deserved more time, but if Klopp produces something similar, will he be gone too? And then it all starts again.

Lots of teams would have been very happy to finish in Liverpool's positions over the last few years. :rolleyes:

The problem was that BR had shown no signs of being able to sort out the defence; little sign of being able to judge a player; no coherence in his tactics, and an increasingly annoying tendency to talk ever increasing levels of bull about the performance.

I thank him for 13/14, but he's looked beaten recently. There have been far too many results like the West Ham game and the run of results since the Utd game at home last season have been awful. The wins we've had in the league have largely been very lucky.

I think he'll learn from this and make a good manager, but saying that other teams would be happy with our results is daft. None of the teams who've spent like we have and have the fan base we have would be. Since when have LFC settled for 6th?

Every team should strive to win something, and for the 'bigger' clubs that should include winning the league and a European competition, if they are in one. ;) A sense of perspective has to be kept in mind though imho. Liverpool are the 5th highest payers of wages. And over the last five years they are the 4th highest in the Net spend on transfers. Going by that, realistically they should be finishing around 4th or 5th. In Rodgers 3 years, they finished 7th, 2nd and 6th, which averages out to 5th. :thinking: Unless you buy better players, and pay them more money, it will be hard to win the league. If that is the yardstick by which a Liverpool manager is judged, then unless the owners stump up the cash, they will be going through a lot of them every few years. :( :rolleyes: Most fans have an unrealistic view of their team though.

I'm totally aware of where we rank and what par is, but that had nothing to do with being able to organise a defence or create a team that doesn't get bullied. We tend to punch above our weight against the bigger teams, but have done awful against those below us. That's the issue - West Ham, Palace, Villa at home; Stoke away. Those kind of results where we're pummelled by teams we should beat in a repeating pattern. BR showed no sign of getting to grips with that, but it's his transfer record that did for him eventually. Wanting to swap Hendo for Dempsey, okaying Mario and then not playing him in a pair, Borini, Allen, not wanting Studge, wanting Lovren over Sakho - the list is endless. The transfer committee gets stick in the press, but it's been much more successful than BR.

Like I said, I thank him for the title run despite the fact defending (again) and feel that he'll learn from it, but he'll never make a really good manager until he employs a defensive coach.

West Ham deserved the win. Not sure what Moaninho was going on about to the Ref though. Drag two players down, equals two yellow cards, equals one red. Fabregas being offside could have gone either way, but I think he was slightly offside, so the right call. And you can't argue with the goal line technology. Although I'm sure he would try. :rolleyes:

I can't stand Collymore. Like all these mouths in the media, if they haven't already been a manager, like Souness, Hoddle etc, then I can't see any of them opting for the day to day stress away from their comfortable studios where they can spout any BS they want, with virtually no comeback.

It is a pity for some of them, because I could see Carragher and G Neville maybe having the potential to be good managers. I remember Andy Gray bottling it many years ago. Not sure if that wasn't Villa too. :-/ He's another one who does my head in too. Thankfully I hardly see him nowadays.
 
And Alan Hansen. Lots of opinions on "terrible defending" but never tried his hand at coaching.
 
The League Cup has taken out some big teams this week. :eek: Thankfully Liverpool not one of them.:rolleyes: It was a close game though, with neither Liverpool or Bournemouth showing great quality. I think Bournemouth were happy not to let in another 5. ;)

More pressure on Moaninho. Sets it up well for the Liverpool game. I can see that being the game Chel$ki wins though. He almost always seems to pull a rabbit out of the hat against Liverpool. :( :rolleyes: If they lose though.... :eek: :LOL:
 
Hoping for anything other than a draw today in the Chelsea Liverpool game.

I watched a couple ect (of games yesterday, Bournemouth v ct eVilla, and Chel$ki v Swansea.

The Bournemouth g?,d ?affrreduhme was quite a boring game, withe not much happening.v They made it look better thand it was on MothD imho.

The Chel$ki game was very good. Swansea came out meaning businessh:",_wrtggv, and Chel%ki were trying to play the open attacking game they started with at the beginning of last season. Definite penalty and sebding off, no matter what Moaninho tries to insinuate by not talking about it. Surprised to see Ivanovic getting taken apart by Montero, as he is consistently one of Chel$ki's best players. Maybe it was just as they said in the commentary, Ivanovich can't handle fast players running at him. I doubt there will be many as good as Montero was yesterday.

I thought Swansea deserved the points, but that is why Chel$ki are Champions, they managed not to lose. Hope Swansea can keep that up all season.

I saw a Chel$ki player warming up, and thought 'who is that?' I didn#t recognise Falcao with hi makeover. :LOL:

My God the BT co commentators, :eek: Trevor Francis and Michael Owen. :mad: Francis is an idiot. Liverpool go a goal down after 4 mins, and he is saying they have to totally change their tactics. Owen's monotone delivery can put anyone to sleep. It could only have been worse if Andy Townsend was added. :rolleyes:

I thought the exact same thing about Francis! Then he said that they looked like they'd not practiced the formation! Yeah, of course JK is going to send them out in a formation they've never used. Moron.
 
Fair play to ranieri and Leicester. Sceptical of the sacking of Pearson but they are doing very well.

I've just seen the Moaninho interview with the BBC, and my oh my, that's one paranoid chap. If he is transmitting his feelings to his players that they can't win if a decision or two goes against them, then they are in big trouble. That he doesn't see how badly they are playing is also worrying. If he feels they are playing bad because of decisions in games, then he is one deluded chap.

Maybe it is all smokescreen, and his usual deflecting BS, but it didn't come across like that.

Well done to Leicester, and Mahrez and Vardy, who I have in my FF team. :D Pity I haven't had enough faith in Vardy to keep his run going to make him my Captain. :rolleyes:
 
Pathetic.

Away to the best team. Why not play two holding miss like coqulin & flamini/chambers rather than a poor Campbell. Yes, we have injuries in that position but the defending was appalling. Trouble is we have no cover at the back so no pressure on players to perform. They know they will get picked week after week.
 
Footballing lesson for Arsenal. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say we were beaten by superior quality no matter who was fit to play for Arsenal and what position.

Hmmm, most of the goals were easily preventable and YET AGAIN highlights our lack of depth at the back. The CL has not been lost as a result of this game, its the criminal defeats in the 1st 2.
