Slaven Bilic certainly seems to understand the West Ham way; win against Arsenal at the Emirates and Liverpool at Anfield while losing to Bournemouth and Leicester at home. I'm looking forward to an entertaining roller coaster of a season.

Still not sure what is going on with Charlie Austin. 18 goals in 35 PL appearances in a frankly shocking, and fairly defensively minded team.

4 goals in 5 games in Championship. 112 goals in 118 starts (+21 sub) over his league career. Works hard, good character apparently. Only 26.

Left out go England squad for Jamie Vardy, no-one in for him yet 2 days before the transfer window closes.

It's a strange game at times!

Still assume he will go, as with Phillips but if anyone wants them no idea why the wait to now? Not convinced we will move much off our valuation as I think we are trying to send a message we are getting back to some semblance of a properly run club.

If he stays, Phillips stays our forward line looks amazing with Chery and Luongo looking really good also.

We have offered Hoylett on a free if anyone wants him, and Traore apparently....

Crazy. Newcastle buy a few players at around £12m, yet Austin is a proven prem scorer. Any club outside the top 7 or 8 could do with him.

He allegedly doesn't want to go too far north who knows...with the amount of money Spurs waste, surprised they've not been in, might still. But he'd do as you say for most teams. Still I hope he stays!

I read somewhere that some clubs were put off by Austin's medical history and a suspect knee. Not that it stopped him from playing in most of QPR's games last season.

Yeah, he failed a medical at Hull 2 years ago because of his knee which is why he ended up at QPR which explained his goal celebration against them last season when he clutched his knee.

Rumour went round earlier that Austin is having a medical at Man Utd this evening, betting moved to 1/2 for them to sign him.

Shame nobody told Charlie, he's giving it large at the Reading Festival tonight, so's his agent! :D

Saw the odds went down, that's funny.

A great celebration that one!

Strange one that. Not what I would class as a Man U standard player, having said that neither is Memphis lol

you say that but Southampton go with Pelle, he is similar. Mitrovic who Newcastle is of that mould and id say Benteke is too.

Would love to know who screwed the David De Gea deal up? Fantastic keeper. Lets hope he gets his head down and acts professionally for Man U until he does leave (probably January). John Stones has continued to get his head down and play for Everton whilst Chelsea have been messing about trying to buy him.

I don't know a lot about the new striker that Utd have bought. It seems like a lot of money for a 19 year old. My mate has just texted and said "well you lot paid £38million for Aguero". Hmm! Aguero was class before we got him and has been fantastic since signing. Most people knew about him from his time at Athletico Madrid. Not a minutes problem on the pitch or off it. He has had quite a few injuries and it would be scary to think how many he would have scored if he hadn't missed large chunks of the past few seasons.

I really do not like the way the transfer window goes on at the start of the season and feel that it impacts more and more each year. Why the hell do clubs leave it so late to do business? It often leaves clubs unable to get in replacements. Sky hyping it all up also does my head in a bit.

Happy with my team's start and signings. Not sure where Kevin De Bruyne will fit in at the moment as Jesus Navas is doing a fine job on the right side for us. Its early days but we look quite good and are proving a few of the pundits wrong (who said we wouldn't finish in the top four!). I still think Chelsea will be challenging and Utd will carry on with their form. Liverpool also look good when they are on form but look a little inconsistent. They had a great first half against Arsenal and looked very classy, particularly with Philip Coutinho in full flow. He looks to be a fantastic player and reminds me a little bit of David Silva (only a little bit mind you.......there are not many players as good as Spanish Dave. I have been watching City for 46 of my 49 years and he is up there with the best I have seen in a sky blue shirt).

Blue moon........you saw me standing alone.........

Can't believe we've managed to hold onto Austin & Phillips, much more optimistic for the season now. Turns out Austin turned down Crystal Palace and Onouha turned down Norwich.

Austin & Phillips have been model professionals throughout the window and have just knuckled down and got on with it. Austin even tweeted the "I'm not leaving" scene from The Wolf of Wall Street!

Contract that with Berahino's dummy spit today!

Great bit of business keeping Austin and Phillips. Also Nedum who is still very popular at City. Top fella......

Have a feeling Madrid have just mugged United for 30 odd million. Can't see De Gea getting back into the team as number one but can see him signing for Madrid on a free with a big fat signing on fee.

Still can't believe we have kept them, brought in the Watford lads I don't know much about but seen to have played most of the season and will fit in well to the system.

This is all feeling strangely positive. Decent start, good looking squad, actually great championship looking squad, attacking, attractive football (not seen for a long time!). Not saying we will go up though must have a decent chance now, but either way nice to have a good feeling about the place again. Getting back to the Holloway days nearly. :)

A strange one certainly, can't help but smile. Who knows who was messing who about, can't believe this was unintentional on someone's behalf. Odd. Be an interesting season for LVG.

Would love the transfer window to finish a week before the season starts.

On paper, it's a very good squad now and the midfield is looking particularly good. There's strength in depth as well which is going to be needed in a 46 game season, especially if we go on a cup run (:D)

But we still need to manage expectations. There is the potential for promotion and the attitude seems right (players tweeting #promotion) but we still need to remember that the club is rebuilding and mid table wouldn't be a complete disaster.

Odd to have the transfer window close at 6pm. o_O

I agree the transfer window should shut before the season starts, but whose season? They don't all start at the same time. And the transfer windows don't all shut at the same time either. If they are going to stick with transfer windows, then for Europe, it should open after the last league/cup game across Europe. The play off could mess with that a bit for everyone though. And it should close on the day before the first game in any league across Europe. If that means that it closes a week or two before the first game in any specific league, then so be it.

Glad Liverpool got the incomings done pretty early. :) Also glad Balotelli has gone, at least for now anyway. I don't think Borini was given a fair chance, but if the writing is on the wall that you're not going to play, he shouldn't have stayed for so long. It must have been a great contract he was given when he signed. ;)

The De Gea saga took an odd turn at the end. Each blaming the other for the **** up. Easy enough to sort out, emails and faxes have time stamps. Not sure which way Utd will jump, to play him or not, it will be interesting to see how it is handled. £36m for a 19 year old came out the blue.

It will be interesting to see if De Bruyne lives up to the price tag. To be worth £25m more than he was a year ago seems suspicious. And the fact that he wasn't a huge success last time he was here.

I'm glad that Everton stuck to their guns with Stones. I just hope it doesn't come back to bite them.

Berahino needs to be careful and play his situation right now. The early signs don't look good though. :(

I go away for the weekend, no reception .....come back to see palace at nosebleed height in the table and that we beat Chelsea.....I'd written that off as a draw at very best.

Looking ominous for City winning the league. Suppose we should wait until they play a few more of the big boys though.

Good result for the Welsh last night, one win needed out of three should be a fairly easy ask.

Be interesting to see if this applied higher up the leagues http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34204326

For anyone who doesn't want to read the link, player charged with feiging injury, red card overturned for player sent-off, possible 3 match ban for the actor.

About time.

It will be interesting to see if it get enforced in the higher leagues.

I have my doubts but let's see. It seems more prevalent at the higher level. I imagine in some instances it will be very hard to prove. Would be excellent if a Chelsea player got done after the medical staff had run on again :)

West Ham were charged by the FA for failing to control their players after they surrounded the ref when Noble was sent off vs Liverpool. I look forward to them taking weekly action against Chelsea, Man U, etc. (The red was rescinded on appeal and then FA charged them afterwards, btw.)

I'm all for teams and players being disciplined for surrounding the refs, especially as 80% of the time it's organised mock outrage. The Noble one was interesting as it was so clearly wrong, but two wrongs don't make a right so it was the right decision to charge West Ham. I do agree let's see what happens with the big boys, though to be fair it's not just the big teams that do this.

i'm smiling now that he has signed a new 4 year deal

Although I may be very wrong, I guess young Spanish footballers as children were more likely to dream of playing for Madrid than Utd.
Especially this United side.

I feel like LVG is "doing a job". When he goes he will leave utd in a firm position. It's not sexy or exciting but merely functional.

I think this leaves it open for Giggs to come in and be the Saviour when LVG leaves. To reinstill those fearless attacking values they had under Fergie.

Never been a big fan of Utd but they at least used to play exciting/entertaining football. This is such a listless team. I know I'm biased but Palace are more exciting to watch
