Very disappointing result for Liverpool today. :( Good win by the Gooners.

Had chances to score, but just didn't have the quality around the box.

Goal of the season contender from Charlie Adam today. Lobbed Courtois from 60+ yards.

Was at the Emirates today. 4 great from the Arsenal who were very good. People slate Ozil, but his football brain is just on a different level, and that free kick was sublime :D

Great free kick, but imho Ozil hasn't been a success at Arsenal, especially taking into account his reputation and cost. The odd good game every so often isn't enough, imho.

That's what you get when you watch the games on TV. Couple of things people don't really notice:

  1. He's always available for an easy pass when others are under pressure
  2. He may not always play the final ball, but more often than not, he stimulates a move, like a snooker player playing 3 or 4 shots ahead, he see's the game 3 or 4 moves ahead.
  3. His little touches and flicks during the game remind me of Bergkamp
  4. He may not look like he's over exerting himself, but that's just his style.
He was a lot of money, but he's been bought for the Arsenal Wenger is building, not necessarily the team we have now.

Sterling was a handful today, he's going to be something special when he's got a bit more experience. As long as he listens to the coaching staff and not his agent !

Since coming back from injury Ozil has been one of Arsenals better players, not only going forward but chasing back too which was missing from his game last season. Price wise, comparing what the likes of United Spurs Chelsea and City have spent on a single player I would say Ozil is value for money.

Guilty as charged for that. I've only seen Ozil on TV, and will probably only ever see him on TV. Can't believe TV hides so much of his game though. ;)

Unfortunately that's the problem with Sterling, he's not the finished product, but he's getting offered £100k+ a week.  He has chosen, or has been so badly advised this week, in doing a TV interview without the clubs knowledge. That is definite no no, especially given the subjects discussed. He is obviously, or his agent is, angling for a move. If someone offers a wad of cash for him, I'd take it. I'm fed up with players wanting to go. If you don't like it, then p**s off.

If he thinks he would play as much in most teams that would be able to buy him as he does for Liverpool, then he could be in for a big surprise. Then again, maybe he is as good as he thinks he is. ;)

And he is often played out of position!

One thing that always baffles and annoys me is this universal habit of quoting footballers' salaries in weekly terms. Why do they do that?

When somebody says Sterling's only on £35k, it sounds like he's almost underpaid. But when you say he has two years left on his current deal of £1.8 million a year, he's been offered £5.2 million a year, and his agent says he deserves (depending on which report you believe) somewhere between £7.3 million per year and £9.4 million per year, that puts it into a whole new light.

I mean, Liverpool have offered him £26 million over 5 years, guaranteed even if he's injured, not performance related, not including bonuses, and not including sponsorship deals, but he's asking for about £36 million to £47 million. It's not for me to say whether he's "worth" it - at the end of the day, the market decides - but looking at the figures in that way certainly does put a different perspective on it.

Goal of the season, Bobby Zamora, what a finish :banana:

I don't disagree with you but Adam's was more spectacular so that's the one they'll dribble over the most.
Rooney's wasn't too shabby either. ;) He had too much time after his first touch though. Can't fault his second touch.

I just don't get why keepers stand so far off their line. At times yesterday the Liverpool keeper was closer to the centre circle than the penalty area. Any decent player worth their salt would have a go for 60 yards in that situation.

And of the two, I prefer the goal from Zamora, that finish was really something (almost as good as Sanchez's goal yesterday ;))

Zamora's goal was special.

As was Defoe's!!

When your sat, in Row Z, and the ball hits your head that's Zamora!

When the ball's in the goal, it's not Shearer or Cole....it's Zamora

(Not a Zamora fan but ways liked that chant!)

Keepers are also sweepers as well nowadays. It is the risk you take for allowing the defence to play higher, or even join the attack. I don't think that there are many that have the brains or the talent to take advantage of keepers so far from the goal line.

Talking of goal lines, did anyone notice that both keepers were not on their goal lines for the penalties over the weekend? I'm not talking moving early, as that always happens a bit, but not actually starting on the line.

Haven't seen that for awhile, but then two did it in the same weekend.

Murray and puncheon playing very well!

Apart from the stonewall penalty that city should have had.

Very bad result for Cit€h. Great result for Palace.

Cit€h don't seem to have that spark atm, and it's getting close to the end of the season. They are lucky that those below have hit bad form too. :(

I'm going to be bold and say that if Liverpool win their remaining games, then they'll finish 4th on the proviso that utd beat city.

If arsenal win their remaining games they'll be second by a point or two.

Random guessing but it's tight up there.

Bet Pardew doesn't seem so bad now to the Newcastle fans!!

It's by no means impossible.

Here's what the Premier League table looks like over the last 10 games:

1 Arsenal ...... 27 pts / GD+19
2 Man Utd ...... 25 / +14
3 Chelsea ...... 24 / +10
4 Liverpool .... 22 / +7
5 Tottenham .... 20 / +5
6 Palace ....... 19 / +5
7 Stoke ........ 16 / +1
8 Swansea ...... 16 / -3
9 Everton ...... 15 / +1
10 Man City ..... 14 / +8
11 Southampton .. 14 / 0
12 West Brom .... 12 / -6
13 West Ham ..... 9 / -5
14 Hull ......... 9 / -7
15 Sunderland ... 9 / -7
16 Leicester .... 8 / -6
17 Newcastle .... 8 / -9
18 QPR .......... 6 / -6
19 Burnley ...... 6 / -9
20 Villa ........ 6 / -10

Liverpool have gained 8 more points than City over the last 10 games. Can they gain 8 more points over the remaining 7 games? It's a very big ask.

I thought the City game was tonight. :banghead:I've only just seen the score. :)

If it was the Liverpool team before the Utd and Arsenal games I would have a bit more confidence, but they have gone off the boil, and the Sterling b****x, and having three players sent off isn't good.

But then apart from Chel$ki, Arsenal and Utd, nobody is playing well. :-/

Looking at the remaining fixtures for the current top 6 then it's still hard one to call.

There are always odd results but if I was pushed to put a win, draw, loss against them..............

Chelsea: 70 pts -

QPR Away w
Manchester United Home w
Arsenal Away d

Leicester Away w
Crystal Palace Home w
Liverpool Home w
West Brom Away w
Sunderland Home w
----------------------
Arsenal: 63 pts
Burnley Away w
Sunderland Home w
Chelsea Home d
Hull Away w
Swansea Home w
Manchester Utd Away d
West Brom Home w
--------------------------
Manchester United: 62 pts
Manchester City Home d
Chelsea Away l
Everton Away w
West Brom Home w
Crystal Palace Away d
Arsenal Home d
Hull Away w
-------------------------
Manchester City: 61 pts
Manchester United Away d
West Ham Home w
Aston Villa Home w
Tottenham Away w
QPR Home w
Swansea Away w
Southampton Home w
----------------------------
Liverpool: 54 pts
Newcastle Home w
Hull Away w
West Brom Away w
QPR Home w
Chelsea Away l
Crystal Palace Home w
Stoke Away w
---------------------------
Spurs: 54 pts
Aston Villa Home w
Newcastle Away w
Southampton Away w
Manchester City Home l
Stoke Away w
Hull Home w
Everton Away w
-------------------------------

Then the final table would be:

Chelsea 92
Arsenal 80
Man City 80
Man United 74
Liverpool 72
Spurs 72

It's quite an interesting little run that chelsea have; 2 sides battling relegation and 2 that are at least trying to cement their top 4 position. Leicester is their game in hand isn't it, so who knows what the top 4 will look like after that game (pretty much the same as now I suppose :D)

Ahem.....palace [emoji6][emoji6][emoji6]

I was being a little tongue in cheek.....just being able to revel in a rare bit of sustained form (given out previous yoyo nature!!)
I know, ;) but I was also pointing out that they are in good form too, not just winning against high profile opposition.

It will be interesting to see if Pardew can keep this level up with Palace, as he had Newcastle playing very well in bursts, but then go through a shocking run too.

This could open a can of worms.......

England U19s to replay end of qualifier after refereeing error
England will restart a key Under-19 women's match in the 96th minute with a retaken penalty after a refereeing error.

Mo Marley's side, trailing 2-1, will replay the final minutes of the European U19 Championship qualifier against Norway in Belfast on Thursday.

German referee Marija Kurtes disallowed Leah Williamson's spot-kick for encroachment during Saturday's match.

But she wrongly gave Norway a free-kick instead of ordering a penalty retake.

The restart will take place at the Seaview Stadium in Belfast at 21:45 BST with a different referee, as Kurtes has been sent home following her error.

Uefa's ruling states that the match will be "extended according to the discretion of the referee". Approximately three minutes remain to be played.

With England winning earlier on Thursday - an equaliser from the spot on Thursday evening will put England through as group winners on goal difference.
