I wonder if Evans will get away with his part in this. I don't believe it was an aggressive action from himself and I think Cisse reacted badly. Personally, I think it should be brushed under the carpet and TV should stop analysing every tiny detail of the game. Degrading, insulting, disgusting as spitting can be, this case does not warrant bans in excess of career ending thuggish challenges.

Funny how chelsea fans managed to find some dodgy footage of naughty chants from rival fans so soon after the racist display in Paris. Ooh, aren't football boys naughty :naughty:

Spitting should be punished. By that I mean spitting 'at people' which I'm not sure Evans actually did.

I said the same with the biting thing. Biting people and spitting at people isn't part of the game so coming down heavy on offenders may help to eradicate it.

Tackling however is part of the game. A career ending challenge may be nothing more than mistimed tackle which is no more of an offence than a mistimed pass.

Bit of a poor show by the Villa fans invading the pitch yesterday. :( To go on the pitch before the end of the game is particularly idiotic. It would have been so funny if the match was abandoned.

My under 11s would have turned United over tonight.

Squib of a game but delighted for Welbeck getting his goal after the way he was turfed out and at last Valencia gets an assist.

Wenger & LVG out :sneaky:

Cheers Danny :(

I actually enjoyed the game, not exactly sparkling with plenty of chances, but more interesting than many United games this season.

And Liverpool (pending a win) avoid Arsenal in the semis.

It would have been nice to see somebody else in the final.

Di Maria had to go. From a rugby league background, I think a lot of players who face up to the ref should go and the refs should grow some balls and red card them. Ref did well tonight.

Totally agree.

Januzaj is a disgrace. Great talent but already growing an unwanted reputation. Most bookings for simulation last year I think.....that stuff sticks in refs minds and can become a self fulfilling prophecy.

I thought it was one of the better games over the weekend. Not a good weekend for the FA Cup imho.

I though Utd played better than I'd seen them play so far, I don't think Arsenal were at their best though. I'm not Welbeck's biggest fan, but I though he took his goal very well.

Liverpool were not that good against Blackburn, and may now have to wait about a month to to play the replay at Blackburn. Who knows what form either team will be in. Arsenal and Villa can blow hot and cold. Mainly cold with Villa. ;) If Bradford can beat Chel$ki at home, then they can beat anybody if they get past Reading.

And if Wigan and Portsmouth can win the Cup, anything is possible.

His was shocking. Fa need to make an example of him. Ref did well.

It is only a problem if he starts getting a lot of decisions against him when they were legitimate calls, tonight was a very good and brave call by the Ref, who I thought I had a great game. Don't dive you don't get the reputation as a diver. Suarez had that problem when he first came to Liverpool, but cleaned up his act in the final season. But by then there were times he was fouled and didn't get the correct decision. Not right, but you can understand him not getting the benefit of any doubts.

Funnily enough I did think about Suarez as I was writing it. He definitely wasn't given the benefit of the doubt with some fouls!

Pleased for Welbeck, nice to finally get a win at OT and that's it really.

I know I'm a Gooner, but after the comments from Paul Scholes in that paper, I'm so glad Arsenal came out on top. I would expect him to be far less bias as he was writing for a national paper (well sort of). The level of cheating was unbelievable, and I thought the ref was very strong.

Anyway, I hope I can get a couple of tickets, I was very lucky last year, getting tickets for both the semi and the final.

Real Madrid v Schalke was a good game. Schalke had Real a bit nervous.

Jeez that Madrid defence was bad. If they didn't have Ronaldo...

Only caught the second half, work crap and all that, but a very enjoyable 45 mins of football. Most unusual in the CL.

If they didn't have Ronaldo...
And if Shalke didn't have their best player? There was a season when all I heard was "If United didn't have Ronaldo's goals, blah blah blah ...." You can't just take a player out of one side .... unless admittedly, he's the United goalie at the moment.

Some twists and turns in the Chl$ki v PSG game.

Some very contentious decisions, and Sideshow Bob came back to haunt Chel$ki. ;)

The other CL game wasn't so close.

Could be an important day today.

United v Spurs. Can't say I'm overly confident but a win for United would be a massive result given it would put us 2 points City and 6 points above Spurs.

If Chelsea were to beat Southampton that would put them 7 points behind United.

All wishful thinking though.

A defeat against Spurs followed by a win for Liverpool tomorrow would create a very different picture.

Shame it was all for nothing. :(
That's what I like to refer to as the sweetcorn in the poo.

It was truly spectacular but not sure what happened first half to your team. Although I'm glad palace have been playing well.

1st 10 minutes we were the better team, arguably the last 10 as well but the 70 minutes in between was awful. We've actually played well in recent matches but have made some ridiculous defensive lapses along with some rotten luck and equally as rotten refereeing decisions. I honestly think that, if we played as well yesterday has we did against Spurs & Arsenal, we would have won. Burnley beating City last night rubbed a fair bit of salt in.

Great day for Palace and WHAT A GOAL from QPR!! Take a bow son.

It was a screamer wasn't it !

I guess1 point for Southampton is a good result. I just didn't want them winning.

Just need a positive result from United now but having seen the team selection I fear we'll be given the runaround at the back.

Without seeing the team beforehand, I felt unusually confident today.

Pre match I felt happy with everything other than the defence but as it panned out - our defence weren't really tested.

On the whole I was really happy with our performance. We actually moved the ball forwards and for once we played with some tempo.

It was actually like watching United.

4 big games coming up

Liverpool away
Villa home
City home
Chelsea away

Can't see us getting anything at Anfield so it was vital we got the 'six pointer' against Spurs and that Southampton didn't get 3 points.

Smalling was getting a lot of praise for his part on the channel I was watching, so I think the defence played a preventative role in avoiding a real test. I've enjoyed certain players who were being crucified last year putting in better performances further up field this season.

Gooners were looking good on Saturday. Chasing City for 2nd.

In fact, if City aren't careful, they could find themselves outside of the top 4. there's not much in it at the moment...

Oh, and that goal from Philips at QPR, fantastic strike, and he meant it too...

Poyet sacked. Big games on tonight. Not sure what to watch.

Race for 2/3/4 in the premiership is great, as is the relegation battle.

Also. WTF is happening in the championship. That is a properly tight league - very competitive!!

Important win for Liverpool tonight. We played our "get out of jail card" in the first half, but you need a bit of luck as well as skill, to win. Sunday is going to be a big day :D

Ah yes!! It's going to be fascinating this top 4 lark!!

It will be fascinating and (lets just assume Chelsea have the league in the bag) the media will no doubt shift our attention to the race to the 'top four'.

Obviously the clubs will want top four for the financial rewards but as a fan I'm divided.

Champions League is another cup competition at the end of the day.

First and foremost I want to be competitive in the league. By that I mean actually challenging for the league title not top 4. We're not doing that at the moment and I'm not convinced adding Champions League football will help.

Look at Liverpool last season. They were in a position where they could focus solely on the league and if it wasn't for the Crystanbul implosion and Slippy G against Chelsea they'd have won it.

On the flip side you have Arsenal. For all their 4th place finishes they get nowhere near winning the Champions league or the title. I wouldn't want to head down that road.

Offer me 4th or 5th and I'd take 4th as I'd have some Champions League games to enjoy next season but assuming we can still improve given our financial situation I wouldn't take Champions League participation over a genuine title challenge.

The way almost everyone is playing at the moment, inconsistent or not very convincingly, places 2-4 are up for grabs. Chel$ki are in the same situation, but have got the buffer that will probably see them through to win the league, unless they implode. Which I doubt. Although looking at the PSG and Bradford games though, and even they are susceptible to odd results. Just not as many as the other teams.

Liverpool were playing well :) until tonight, :( and are the form team followed by Arsenal. They were very lucky, both in the result and the type of goal that won the game at Swansea. I think the Utd game could be key for Liverpool, and how they perform in that game, if not the result, could have an impact on whether they continue the form they have been on. (apart from the Swansea game)

Spurs had been playing quite well until the Utd game, where they looked very poor.

Utd were playing quite ordinary, but amazingly, getting the results until the Spurs game. The change on Sunday was like night and day compared to their previous games I'd seen this season. They will hopefully take that form into the Liverpool game. I obviously hope they don't. ;)

Arsenal have been pretty consistent. :)

Cit€h, you don't know what you're going to get. For the squad they have, they should be having no problems. Unless they get a run of form, I can see Pellegrini being the subject of a lot of speculation regarding him still being there next season.

It should all hopefully make for an interesting finish to the season at the top. I think most apart from Chel$ki fans would want them to have a few slip up to make it as good a finish as last season.

I half watched it.

Swansea should have been out of sight by half time.

A win is a win though

A Utd fan should now that this season. ;)

Yep, Swansea where the better team in the first half. On the coverage I was watching, the commentator said if you didn't know the teams, only who were the form team, you would have thought Liverpool was in the white kit. :(
