We were lucky to get beat just 2-1. Dzeko was awful, though not alone, thought the red was very harsh indeed.

Possibly but if you are on a card it was a stupid challenge to make as you are putting the ref on the spot. Still can't understand why u bought sagna or clichy, both pretty poor.

Or Nasri Adebayor Toure and two others I can't think of at the moment. But without City's help we wouldn't have built our beautiful stadium. :)

What on earth was that header

It was quite funny. Trying to be too clever by trying to put it in the far corner, rather than just hitting the target. Great save by Hart though.

The Suarez reaction for the first goal was just so quick and clinical.

Aguero was just looks class in from of goal. :)

"Wenger Out!".......?

"Wenger Out!".......?

Not sure what was the funniest

Giroud giving Messi a run for his money with that miss or Berbatov and Mertesacker having a race

Bloody shambles "Weng...........

Just seen the score, what happened? The arse were surely odds on for winning.

Just read something along these lines on another site ;)

Time for a rule change ?

Top 4 gets CL football. Never mind chasing revenue. If one of the four is Arsenal then surely it's about time the CL place given to another English club to have a go instead.

Wenger clueless in the big games again. Yet again he cannot inspire or motivate a team, he cannot organise a defence and persists with average defensive players. Same old excuses will come out yet again.

I know everybody jokes that Wenger's Arsenal should be renamed 'Arsenal 4th FC' but having looked into it they should be named 'Arsenal round of 16 FC'

Rant mode...commentator just said " the ball just would not settle for Sturridge"....why the hell not control it then, like Aguero,Messi Saurez?... Oh I forgot, cos you`re an over rated English player, paid far too much money and are not worth a fraction of that because you are simply not good enough.

phew thought you were talking about Van Gaal there

Seriously  He's has an outstanding scoring record for Liverpool and is only back from long term injury. He is a quality player, just because he's English, shouldn't go against him (and that's coming form an Irish man )

For Liverpool at least, 38 goals in 60 games, and that's with some injuries along the way. I think he is worth the money. :)

I feel a bit numb about the game on Thursday. :( I was working, but set the DVR to record the game. When I got home, it was half time in the Everton game, but they mentioned that Liverpool had been knocked out. :( But I started watching the recorded game anyway. The game went to extra time. My recorder stopped recording a few minutes into extra time, so I went onto the BBC site and saw that Liverpool had lost on penalties. Then I went online to watch the penalties.

Obviously if we had won, or even played particularly well, I may have felt different, but everything seemed to go against me to take any suspense or surprise out of the game. :(

On the bright side, I won't miss another Thursday night game because of work.

Get real, Sturridge, Sterling, Rooney.........how many English players would get in a German,Italian,Spanish national team, not a one. They are all over rated and that is why the English national team is utter sheite.

remember the golden generation that promised so much, yet were second rate.

One day, hopefully, they may prove me wrong, I really hope they do.

It's funny how the notion that United are missing a 20 goal a season striker is raised in the same week that McClair left. I hope we dont have to wait another 20 years for one.

They do have one. How many goals does Rooney have so far (before he decided to play him in midfield?)

Rooney is not playing there much anymore.
Apparently he scored 17 last year, but I dont keep tabs on stats myself. I much prefer to see goals coming from several players, rather than relying on a Van Persie figure

Eagles flying up the league now.

Hearts with a 10:0 win including a 3 min hat trick.

Happy with United's second half performance today - Adnan making a huge difference.

Useless fact of the day - first Day of pro fixtures since 1974 that one of the Ferguson family hasn't been managing a team.

Wrexham's third appearance at Wembley in 2 years coming up soon - everything else is IRRELEVANT.

What a game.

Liverpool v Cit€h was on course to be one of the best draws I've seen, but then the little gem Coutinho comes up with another screamer from outside the box. And that followed a possibly even better goal into the top corner from outside the box by Henderson in the first half. Dzeko equalized in an end to end first half played at 100mph.

Liverpool looked the more attacking team in the 2nd half, and thankfully made the possession count with the Coutinho goal. :)

It took me till half way into the 2nd half to realise that Ibe wasn't playing, (got up late ) and he's arguably been are best player for the last few games. Liverpool were very good today.

Brillant display by Liverpool and a well deserved victory. Was a bit concerned, when I saw the team, but every man played their part.

Given the age, of a lot of these players, it's a really exciting time for Liverpool over the next few years.

That seems to be the blueprint. Young players bought and developed.

V impressed with Henderson. I think people forget how key his absence was in the title run in last season.

Aye, Henderson was in excellent form last year and a big miss towards the end.

Liverpool seem to be doing quite well in getting some young players and developing them. :) I would like to see some defenders coming through as well though. You can only have so many attacking midfielders in a team. The young defenders they have bought have gone straight out on loan once it was determined that they were not close to the first team. And they don't seem to do too well on loan. Coates, being a Uruguayan International not being able to get into a struggling Sunderland team is worrying. And there is another Illori, who doesn't seem to be getting much playing time in Bordeaux. I can't see either developing if they don't play while on loan. It is always a gamble with young players though.

It is a great young squad Rodgers has brought together though. The ages of the players would surprise many if they didn't know, because they are playing pretty well.

Poyet and Bruce sent off?? I wonder whether poyet will curl one into the "bottom" corner

Am not saying spitting is acceptable but how can cisse get a 7 game ban, when an elbow to the face or a leg breaker will get a 3 game ban at most? Let's get some common sense. It's s bit like getting £2k fine for using a disabled space and then getting a £500 fine for being 3 times the dd limit. Both are wrong but one is far more dangerous.

Dangerous! You do know how Aids and Ebola are transmitted don't you, by bodily fluids. Not saying that would have happened in this case of course, but you don't want that kind of behaviour become common place, so you clamp down on it hard. If it had always been dealt with this harshly in the past, maybe it would happen less often than it does, which thankfully seems to be not that often.

Evans instigated the spitting, so it will be interesting to see what happens to him.

Spitting (at people) is horrible. It's the lowest insult.

It's not as bonkers as biting somebody but it's disgusting.

Evans spat 'in the direction' of Cisse whilst Cisse spat 'at' Evans.

Whatever the intent or the finer points - I'm happy to see both banned.
