Fergie might have done your head in but won titles, can't argue with that really.

Arsenal's pocket goes about as deep as the top four and that's about it.

Fergie won titles (a lot of them) so I'm not complaining.

That said the last few years he won titles in spite of the obvious problems that we're now trying to sort out.
 
I can't recall the source but it went something like this......

Any club that beat Fergie to a title out spent him.

Apart from Wenger.

Same old problem though, money. When the club was bought and the way it was bought, meant there was limited funds for transfers. Same with arsenal. Wenger was effectively hamstrung for funds for5-6 years because of the cost of the new stadium. Even so he kept the arse as a top 4 club. Their big problem again is size of squad in important areas and the played that have long term injuries. Good to see Walcott back, but you wonder how long before he and Giroud are off again.

The years he did win the titles, did he outspend everyone else? I'm assuming not, certainly some of the later ones but earlier on?

Lets remember that most of his trophies were won with the best back 4 of all time which he inherited!
 
A larger part of me doesn't care really about football anymore, but I think man city, or their owners have taken the p!ss with regards to frank lampard

The question now is whether Lampard knew the plan all along and it was the only way he could end up at city?

Maybe, or maybe it wasn't a plan. It looks like he is signed to the company that own the clubs, rather than either of them (although he is registered with city) and they can do what they please.

I don't see the problem with regards to Frank Lampard. :thinking: The only people who should be upset are New York City FC, but seeing that they are owned by the same people as Man City, so in reality the owners of the clubs, and the player, they choose where he plays.

I'm sure Lampard has a say, but if you have the choice of playing occasionally for League Champions and have a chance to win another title, or go to a brand new team, in a new league, and a new country, with no idea how good or bad the team will be is being dropped in the deep end. I'd let the team start playing for a few months and see how well they start off. PR wise, he may be in a bit of trouble when he eventually gets there. :eek: But I'm sure he's getting paid enough not to worry too much about it. ;)
 
Perhaps City could get a load of supporters shipped over from NY on loan ;)

From what I heard on the radio yesterday, which may be wrong, NYCFC didn't really exist as a "Club" with no facilities and little infrastructure. And I think the Premier League confirmed that Lampard was not on loan at Cit€h. It is a bit muddy, but like I said only NYCFC are feeling a bit miffed atm with the situation. Nothing illegal or underhand is being mentioned, just an odd situation.

As for who players sign for, there are many incidents of multiple ownership of a player over The years. They are trying to cut down on such deals, but abroad, and South America especially, it has not been so clear cut who "owned" a player. Not saying this is the Lampard situation, but different types of deals have been done for players around the World and it is sometimes not as simple as 'signed to Club'.
 
Previously I've heard about players being 'owned' by agents and registered to a club (wasn't that the case with the 2 Argentina lads that went to West Ham ... i can't remember one of their names and never bothered with the other one ;) ) but not owned by someone who owned more than one club.
Seems frank only signed a 'commitment' and not a contract. As it looks like Phil has pointed out, the fans in New York have forked out a lot of money with the promise that they had an international star in their squad.
 
United v Southampton has the ingredients to be a good game today.

Big game for both sides given their proximity in the current league standings.
 
I didn't fancy going to watch this down the pub and only keeping tabs on the beeb website. Seriously though, not a single shot on target apart from their goal?!?!?!

Not the game or result I'd hoped for.

For 3/4 of the match it was a case of 'can United score v Southampton' ?

United seriously lacked any inventiveness in the final third but credit to Saints - they pressed and prevented us building anything of note.

After the goal it was more of the same and Mata should have done better with some of his chances later on.

One already slipping from my memory if I'm honest but it was good to see some players getting back into the team.
 
No shots on target.....................yeah I know I should visit this thread far more often, specially this season lol, still remember league one days, #we march on!
 
Strange how it's all gone so quiet over here, only sing when you're winning!?!? Thought van gael or whatever he's spelt was pretty begrudging in defeat, nearly as bad as Wenger, I reckon the idea of buying everyone you can rather than managing your squad and creating players is about to be found out. Unless in the next few weeks half my team f*ck off again only to sit on a chilly northern bench collecting ridiculous wages just to prevent them scoring for us! You know who you are....COYR ;-)

I thought Arsenal had a good display yesterday, not a poor performance among them really. I thought that it was a definite foul on Debuchy, not sure what Ref's blow up for these days. That Sanchez is a bit "special" isn't he.... ;)

I must admit, I'm still not convinced that a change in Manager is the answer. Bring back David Dein...
 
Yeah Arsenal did look good, Sanchez is a player I've yet to see this season and he does look exceptional, have to say I reckon Citeh will pinch the title, they are by far the best passing, most organised unit, Chelski not far off and Hazard has the best feet in the league, and yes.....tonight I'm sober, thanks for your tolerance, thank god no one mentioned P*mpey last night :O

Just shows what a bite can do for your season. ;) It's funny, the toothy one isn't even mentioned. I doubt few people can deny how good Suarez played last season, but I expected some votes for him from whoever was able to vote from Uruguay.

I thought Rodriguez goal was the best goal of the World Cup, but I though the Stephanie Roche goal was a better goal.

Surprised the Captain and Manager of Uruguay didn't give him a vote, as they were all behind him in the World cup. :thinking:

I can't believe anyone didn't have Messi, but especially Ronaldo last year, as their #1. :eek:

It is a FIFA vote though so people actually voting for the most appropriate people is mixed up with politics. :rolleyes:
 
Funniest thing I've seen in ages.

Their team hasn't scored in about 10 games or something so the fans are doing their bit.........
