at least its on sky sports 1 and not just MUTV and in good northern weather too

Pretty naff first half especially from United given how they've performed so far pre season.

Miami crowd is a bit of a let down too.

Better 2nd half all round.

Impressed with Tyler Blackett every time I see him and great to see Jesse Lingard (from my home town Warrington) getting a goal.

Early days and no doubt more changes for United over the next month but it's all a far cry from last season.

I've got to drive from Perth to Warrington and back tomorrow so I'm glad it was worth staying up late for.

Utd are back to their best. By that I mean winning a game they didn't play too well in. ;)

Well done Utd, 3-1 winners.

I agree about the disappointing crowd, especially after the 109k the other night. I was switching between Fox and Sky Sports, and Fox kept on saying the reason Utd may have been poor in the first half was because they only played two days ago. Er, Liverpool played after them on Saturday.

It's still pre-season, but I'm slightly concerned about Lambert. He doesn't look himself. Sterling was great in the first half, and still very good in the 2nd. Ibe came on and looked lively too. I thought Sakho had one of his best games, deflection for the 2nd Utd goal aside. Overall I was very happy with the way Liverpool played. There need to be more chances on goal, but hopefully that will come.

Rooney and Mata looked like they have lost a bit of weight. Great goal by Rooney to guide the ball into the net. And a good goal, if an unexpected scorer, by Lingard. The Utd defence looked very poor in the first half though. If LvG wants to go with the three at the back, he may have to get some better defenders to make it work. Indeed, he better get some better defenders any way. Better than last season so far, but then they only had to look as if there were trying to do that.

There was some dodginess when Rooney was given a goal that went over Mignolet, bounced off the stanchion behind the crossbar and back onto the pitch, straight to Rooney to score. It was eventually, correctly disallowed, but I think the officials got some help from off the pitch somewhere. ;)

I'm getting irritated by the phrase 'marquee signing' btw.  Everyone seems to need a Marquee signings.

Saw the first half but then fell asleep! Liverpool need another striker I think - Sturridge will miss games at some stage this season and lambert, whilst being alright, is not in the same league. Remy would have been ideal!

Utd looked awful at the back first half. Ferdinand would have been great in a back 3 given his ability on the ball. Van Gaal must be decent as Ashley young looked ok at wingback

Saw the first half but then fell asleep!

Easy to fall asleep after that first half.

I was close to throwing the towel in and going to bed but the 2nd half was much better.

4pm bed and lots of driving today - I think I've got jet lag lol

Agree about united's defence in the first half. God knows what was going on there as they've not looked too bad up to that point. Still, I expect there to be some additions in that area.

Bit of a shock today... LVG is making his mark... Man U have released Howard Webb who is retiring!

It may be a decision that comes back and bites them on the bottom. ;)
More likely, letting suarez go will come back and bite you if you meet Barca in Europe ;)

Might have been the charity shield but a wins a win, sweet when it's over Nasri and Co.

I thought the new signings all looked good on Sunday, Chambers especially. Not sure where Giroud found that shot, definitely not in his locker ! :)

Rambo was as reliable as ever, if he has another good season, I think Arsenal will struggle to keep him next year. Still he'll be worth £50M I guess.

Sounds like there's been a Pulis / Parish issue.

Neil Lennon next ?

Pulis gone from Palace apparently. Wonder what's gone on there.

Madness (from Palace). Sounds like two egos clashing, and there is normally only one winner. Odds on getting relegated must be changing fast.

Having said madness, maybe it was a clash over transfer budget and Palace are being prudent, but it seems crazy to get to this stage now so close to the start of the season.

Absolutely.

Someone's trying to spread the rumour that Palace are going to try and tap up Hoddle!

Seeing what pullis did for them, I would have pretty much done what he wanted if I was chairman.

Definately going down now!

Absolutely.

I've seen that - doubt it will happen! Such an odd situation - the timing more than anything.

Tony Pulis leaves Crystal Palace on eve of new Premier League season after disagreement with board over transfers
Tony Pulis was annoyed club failed to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, Steven Caulker and Michu
Palace have bought in Fraizer Campbell, Brede Hangeland and Chris Kettings and Martin Kelly
Puils and co-chairman were locked in crisis talks on Thursday
Neil Lennon and Malky Mackay early favourites for the job

He's already said he doesn't want to give up his media commitments which is why he is only at QPR 3 days a week. He's hardly going to want to take on a full time Premier League Manager's job!

I'm stunned at Pulis leaving Palace.

Wonder where he'll go next. I'm betting a number of "lesser" clubs will be queuing up to get him.

Madness by Palace.

You get any problems out of the way when the season ends to give you as much time as possible to get a replacement. You also give the new chap the summer to make the changes they need.

I don't know whether this is better or worse than sacking the manager after just one game like Huddersfield did with Mark Robbins.

I wonder if the bookies will pay out on Pulis being first sacking of the season, because the season hasn't started yet.

I was wondering about that. Arguably the season has started, but not every club has played a match yet. On the other hand, arguably the Premier League season hasn't started yet. I'm sure the bookies have it defined properly, though they may not all have it defined identically.
