That'll never happen. It's a smokescreen to show the fans they're trying.

I assumed it was a ploy to get Real Madrid to sell their striker to them, so RM can then go for Suarez.

But you never know, Champions League football and potentially a wide open PL this year could tempt him

Suarez to Arsenal? If that goes through looking forward to Jamie and Joe's comments!

Wenger faxed that offer to Liverpool hoping it was high enough to be considered a legitimate bid, then hid under the table hoping to God it was low enough to be rejected

Joking aside - If Real are interested in Suárez - it smacks of an Arsenal leak given the Higuain situation.

I know it's pre season, but it is very quiet in here.

I'm trying to resist the urge to be a transfer muppet

PS

Still crossing my fingers regarding Thiago though ;)

I know it's pre season, but it is very quiet in here.

I don't think there are that many big transfers in the Premier League yet. I expected it all to kick off after the Confederations Cup but nothing happened. Players expected to come here have gone to other countries.

I think Chel$ki may have dodged a bullet probably missing out on Cavani. I think Liverpool may have been lucky to miss out on Mkhitaryan. Time will tell on those two

Liverpool have done some potentially good business, but time will tell. I like that they have got a lot of transfers done early, though they still need another Centre back/Defender or two, which was more of a priority imho.

The Suarez saga drags on. :bang: (where's the roll eyes emoticon when you need it ) He wants to go, particularly to Real, but won't put in a transfer request. And apart from the joke Arsenal bid aside, nobody, including Real, have made a bid for him. So he's not going anywhere then. ;)

I'd like Liverpool to let be known that if he doesn't put a transfer request in by the end of the month, and no one meets his valuation by the end of the month, then he will be going nowhere until next Summer. :rules: They have done early business to try and get things sorted before any pre-season games, they don't need this Suarez bs. :shake: If Suarez throw a hissy fit, then watch him change his tune as the World Cup gets closer, (should Uruguay qualify) and he could potentially not even be in the Liverpool team.

I see Benteke has put in a transfer request, and Villa have set a price. Just how it should be.

Bentekkers handed in his transfer request. He and Weimman are what pretty much kept Villa up last season, hoping he stays.

So, is he a one season wonder or a good player?

I know his old and on high wages but David villa for less than 5m (under 2m up front) must be bargain of the year.

I think that is what some teams are thinking about Benteke. Ba, and Cisse have both looked good for a season for Newcastle, but haven't done much since.

It is a bargain if he stays fit and has still got it in him. ;) He's over 30 and has recently had big injury problems. He will be on very high wages, and if it doesn't work out, that could be a lot of money for not very much.

I rate Benteke, and think he will prove more than a one season Premier League wonder, but it is always a risk. Looks great to me though.

I see we've sold Samba back for virtually the same amount we paid, £12m, seems as dodgy a transfer as you'll see. No doubt Samba, his agent and 'others' will have done very nice out of the 6 month loan though...

Arsenal supposedly looking at Cesar, enjoying the fact the Brazil no1 is a Championship player at present.

I think Redknapp must be virtually self combusting due to our lack of signings. He did not seem happy when we didn't sign Wayne Bridge.

Suarez being a dick again. Get shot of him asap.

I think he's a quality striker. Has a lot going for him (strong, quick, hardworking, good touch and fearsome shot on him) - I think he could make it into any team below the top four. Spurs seems about right.

David Villa comes with too much baggage in my opinion. I found it strange that Arsenal were apparently interested, yes he'll get you goals, but he's past his sell-by-date. Much more worthy for them to seek out someone like Higuian, but that's becoming really boring watching that one unfold.

I've been away from the forum for quite some time but thought I'd check back and I see this. Fair to say that I'll be pretty livid if we sign Suarez.

Based on past transfer targets we've passed up on because of behavioural concerns (M'Vila, most recently), I can only hope this is one of Wenger's pawns in a clever game of transfer chess. It's either an inventive tactic to speed up Madrid in securing Suarez so we can take Higuain away from them, or more worryingly it's a story to spin to the fans to show that we have pursued big targets when we eventually miss out on everyone of note.

I can only hope it's the former, though either option is better than actually blowing upwards of £35m on the biggest liability in football.

I've been doing my best to avoid most of the transfer *******s doing the rounds. What I'd love to see is a break down of rumours, links and stories to actual transfers to see who is most reliable and just how much crap is spewed out literally every day. The number of places I've seen stating that Thiago to Man U was categorically done in the past couple of weeks, only for an announcement to come out today that he'll join Bayern Munich, pending a medical:

A short statement from Barcelona read: "FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich have reached an agreement over the transfer of the player Thiago Alcantara to the German club for a total of 25 million (euros).

"This agreement also includes holding a friendly match between the two teams, which will be played in the next four years."
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...nich-complete-the-signing-of-Thiago-Alcantara

It infuriates me.

On the plus side, I'm having a great time watching the cycling this summer :D

Season ticket time - Knowing Arsenal it's probably both.

Really? Another Arsenal fan I know says much the same, but I would love to see it. he is one of the best players in the world based on the last 2 years, certainly as good as RVP and a great statement that we want to be the best.

Yes, I accept he is not the most innocent character but to be fair he does suffer at the hands of the press and you know that every little thing he does is scrutinised and criticised, even though other players do the same.

Yes, the Evra incident was not good, however (and not knowing anything about the culture in S.America) would not be suprised if that sort of thing is viewd differently there so would go someway to explaining his actions. The rest of what he has done though... is it really that bad?

Biting, well IMO I think some of the tackles we see are far worse and could end a career. Also, Defoe did the same thing a few years ago with no action, and no-one says not to sign him because of it! Cheating... well he seems to have cut out the diving of late (although if its good enough for PotY Bale then its good enough for anyone), and things like handballs (Mansfield I believe), well, any pro would do much the same - and even greats like Henry have cheated in this way.

Yes, he does have baggage but from what i hear he trains very well and is not disruptive on the training ground.

Happy to pay £35m on a player who is going to miss the first 6 games of the season? A player, if who gets in trouble with the FA will face more lengthy bans. A player who has publicly says he feels mistreated by the English press - and that, rightly or wrongly, won't change.

Seems way too much of a gamble for me - to break your club transfer record on a player with that much baggage - it just don't seem very 'Arsenal' to me.

I was quite excited at the prospect of Thiago Alcantara coming to United but he's chosen to hook up with his ex boss Pep Guardiola at Bayern which is fair enough.

What I don't get is the fact that it was all about not being a regular starter at Barca yet Bayern are equally strong.

United have a dismal midfield so he'd have been nailed on to start for us.

There's talk of Fabregas again now. I'm not sure he's what we need but we certainly need to strengthen the midfield.

I don't read/listen to any transfer rumours as there's too many guesses and contradictions in players' reasons for moves. It'd be good to see someone strong come into midfield, but i'm happy to see how the season goes with the squad that exists.

Can't see there being much weight to the Fabregas story either, Arsenal have first pickings due to a clause in his contract, and can't imagine Arsene would miss that... But if these Suarez stories are true, then Christ knows!

Breaking News..... opening bid of 25m from United for Fabrrgas.

Really ?

I wouldn't take Suarez on a free transfer.

Laughable!!

Of course you would he's one of the top five players in the world! I'm sure Roy Keane is a Salford United hero! Ditto Cantona!

Selective morals methinks :)
I just want shot of him. He'll be a Madrid player within the fortnight.

See my post above..

Seen it but don't agree with Wenger missing out. As per usual, linked with everyone bought no one ..... That's the Arsenal way.

If Wenger was serious about the players linked with Arsenal, why haven't we signed them up?

Seems Arsenal have first dobs ONLY if he comes out and says he wants to go to Arsenal and Arsenal meet Barca's fee.

Which sort of means nothing really.

I've always maintained he's a quality player. Vile to the core though so not for me.

Hmm, but Barca have yet to pay Arsenal in full for the transfer yet, and Arsenal would get 50% of the sell. £25m doesn't look that much now.. Also Tiago gone to Bayern - don't think Cesc is going anywhere.

Thiago to Bayern was a bitter blow - I really thought United were going to get him given that he was wanting game time.

Fabregas - I'm not sure he's what United need although we're very weak in midfield. As you say though - would Barca let him go having just lost Thiago.

The outstanding payment thing isn't an issue - these things happen all the time.

Yeah, it is a good point. I just can't see him going to Utd. I'm getting fed up of the rumour mill, even if it isn't my club involved! I dunno if it's because I'm missing football so much, but it feels a lot worse this summer.

And ones that I thought would run and run throughout the summer have gone pretty quiet, namely Bale.

I'm the same - missing my footy so the transfer rumours become fun LOL

Bale - I can't see that one happening unless silly money comes knocking. The only club I can see being silly enough are Real Madrid and I can only see that happening if they get twitchy over Ronaldo's contract running for another year.

But so were Cantona and Keane! You're very selective :)

Of course I'm selective.

There have been lots of players over the years at other clubs that I've disliked but I'd have still been happy to see us sign them.

Suarez though - I honestly wouldn't want him.

The only player I remember us signing I was utterly against was Vinnie Jones - a horrific signing that summed up how low we had become. The fact we had to then pay him off when we didn't give him the managers job was equally sickening.

I actually think he'd be an amazing signing for you, so long as he didn't do a Tevez. He would be rumoured to be going to Real Madrid each transfer window though.

The rumour v factual transfers was done on a QPR site a few years ago, did show how much nonsense is reported.

I want shot of him too, but if he stays in this country I will seriously be ****ed.
