World Cup Final then.

Who are folk hoping wins ?

I guess it would be good for Argentina to win in Brazil and it would be good for a European team to win for the first time in South America.

I'd probably support any team in the World against both Germany and Argentina but against each other - I'm stuck (n)

I don't even have the satisfaction of knowing that I'll get to watch one of them gutted at loosing because neither of them are as unlikeable as in years gone by.

Normally when I start watching a game as a neutral I end up wanting one of them to win even if I had no preference beforehand so perhaps I'll fall towards one team.

I'm going for Germany:

1. The argies are cheats
2. Brazil have already had enough pain without Argentina winning
3. It'll hopefully silence the Messi worship
4. Shows that teamwork is more important than the individual

Going for Germany. I tipped them, from day one, but unfortunately didn't put money on it :(

I would add that every team I've fancied this World Cup has lost. I'm like a crap version of Bob the Squid (whatever the current psychic animal is called)

I tipped Argentina from the start so I guess I should stick to my guns but I really don't want one to win more than the other.

Why the hell do both BBC and ITV commentators insist there is an Argentine player called Roe Hoe. Ignorant idiots.

Extra Time and I've still failed to warm to either of them

IF it goes to pens though - It would be nice to the Germans in pizza adverts.

Goal at last

I need the camera to find Maradona

Good result in the end although the game was marred somewhat for me by the way the commentators kept pronouncing Muller.

Immense display from Schweinsteiger and a fantastic goal from Gotze

If it was ever in doubt - Messi is no Maradona

should have changed channel :p

An amazing player. We talk about World class players and he has to be up there with the best, he has so much influence on games. Some outstanding players in the German team. Klose = what Crouch could have been for England :) I'm half serious.

Glad Germany won, really enjoyed watching them this WC.

It's how they pronounce Rojo. It's really grating. You'd think these guys would do some research on pronouncing foreign names surely?

Well I was watching Ian Wright last night as he described the 'the right back crossing it for <host gives name>, so be happy they actually know the names :-)

To be fair, you can pronounce names differently in different languages. I am fluent in French and will pronounce names differently dependant on the language I am using, and Rojo is for me quite hard to actually pronounce correctly, though I would not pronounce it Ro Ho.

Good, I did want to see the odious little scumbag in our league again.

Don't worry, Barton will be back this season after 2 years away. He is reformed (again). Really. Maybe

My girlfriend and daughter are keen on watching football. Where I'm not interested at all. Things seem to be getting worse these days as there is more and more football on TV these days. So I retire to my PC and work on my pictures while they have big football evening in front of the telly. We might be the opposite of many families.

Makes me chuckle when one commentator pronounces a player differently throughout the game and I noticed in the first game, Chile were pronounced Chilli and Chillay by the same commentator.

Anyway, a good game/tournamnet although I'm not that bothered who won.

Messi... Player of tournament??? Did naff all in the big games.

Hmm reminds me of some of the MOM awards you get where you wonder if the sponsor who awarded it only knew the name of 2 players...

That puts Germany level with England now with 1 each - 2 behind West Germany ;)

Probably just another FIFA fix.

Rodriguez, robben, muller, all easily were far better

Well that was an enjoyable final, and a very good goal to win it. Well done Germany.

I was leaning towards Germany before the game, but not by much. ;) I dislike the Messi worship, great player no doubt, but to only be involved in fits and starts, and then lauded for everything he actually does do, is very irritating.

That he got the player of the tournament shows again that the decision makers at FIFA haven't got a clue.

Remember, gambling can be a problem:

However in this instance it has worked out for the best

Well you have to hand it to them when you consider it was:

Germany 13 : 1 Argentina Brazil Portugal France

When you put it like that, certainly!

On another note, I see you've just got yourself a half-decent deal with Adidas - £75 million a year. for 10 years...not looked into the detail but whoever negotiated that deserves a decent bonus.

Ed Woodward - although it's been on the cards for a long time.

Our deal with Nike was made in 2002 for £23.5m per season. That was bonkers at the time and even 12 years on it's only recently been taken over by recent deals - Real Madrid £31m / Chelsea £30m / Arsenal £30m / Barcelona £27m / Liverpool £25m

Nike had the chance to match any rival bid and it was expected to be around £60m per year but it appears Adidas are coming in with ($1.3b) £75m per year which is about as daft as the £23.5m sounded 12 years ago.

It's a ten year deal though remember so by the time it's running out, others will be in the same ball bark and then it will all begin again.

Personally I'll welcome Adidas. I've fond memories of the Adidas kits of the 80s and Nike kits were getting boring.

Still got Nike for next season (new kit just out) even though we've a horrible Chevrolet logo on the front. Still, Chevrolet are paying a handsome £53m a year for just the first team shirt sponsor as (World's gone mad) AON are now paying £22.5m per year to just sponsor our training kit.

That is an amazing deal for Utd. Kudos for the deal maker.

If I were Adidas I would have waited a year to see how Utd do post Ferguson, post Moyes.

I think it may be less than 10 years for other teams to match that deal. Warrior took a punt on a big deal for Liverpool as a big name, with a huge fanbase, to get them into football. If Liverpool start winning things Warrior will have to stump up a lot more cash next time or be outbid.

Totally agree about Nike kits, they are mostly so boring. Warrior have gone the other way with some awful away kits. Hope Liverpool never go with Nike.

Talking of kits, I like the Arsenal kit.

I can't believe that West Brom have got rid of their stripes.
 :(

As have Inter Milan.
:(

I like that Milan have done something different with their stripes, though I'm not sure about the colour of their away kit. ;)

Manuel Neuer made more passes than Messi.

Even for 10 year deal, the fact it starts at 75m, more than twice any other is amazing. I guess they are banking on CL football, or have clauses built in and this is up to £75m.

We have Nike this year, our away kit has become stripes, our home kit is not hoops as we know them, and is just a basic standard kit with our badge on it  . I've not checked the value but I'm sure it's in the same ballpark :(

Had that argument with a German friend the other night. :)

Messi created more chances than any other player at the WC...

Even Blatter didn't seem to agree with Messi picking up that award. I think there was a bit of "Germany can't win everything" going on. If Argentina had won, then maybe Muller or another German may have picked up the player of the tournament award. Germany got the Golden boot and the best 'keeper awards.
