I'm sure either fabs or akr said they were glad to see the back of the premier league when QPR were relegated ;)
That would be me. And I also said I was not that bothered about going up - both still true. Seeing your team win at Wembley though...don't get to do that much as a QPR fan!

Perfect time to score, 89:50. Pretty poor that it was their only shot on target though. QPR fans won't care.

Hope the Champions League is a good game. And the best team wins. ;)

Same, not celebrated a goal so much in a while. One shot on target all game, played poorly (both teams 1sr half) though as you say great defensive display. At one stage we were so deep it was like a slow torture. On way home- was it a sending off, looked to be running away from goal? Junior had a good game and did well for the goal, and Bobby great in the semi-final and great goal today. In conclusion:
Did we deserve it? No
Was it a great match? No
Do I care? No
:)

To be fair, the ball was about 10 feet away from him when he made the "tackle" so it was clearly a deliberate attempt to trip the player and he admitted it after the game. He knew he would get a red so he took one for the team.

If your team had had the 2 seasons we'd had, you would have said the same. Time has moved on and now we go again. ;)

87k+ people there. Credit to Steve McLaren and Derby who stayed out to applaud - that must have been tough. Nice touch of class from them though. Derby fans were pretty vocal during the match - wish them well next year.

Definitely cynical, no doubt about that, but plenty of cynical fouls are just yellows!

Got to feel sorry for Athletico, they don't deserve this scoreline.

True, guess the ref & linesman judged Russell to be through on goal.

Got to feel sorry for Athletico, they don't deserve this scoreline.

Yep, definitely harsh

eurgh!!!!!!!!!
that bale heart thing, makes me feel so sick!

I missed him doing the heart thing. Thankfully.

Fair to say Real deserved it overall.

So Ancelotti wins the champions league with Real something Mourinho failed to do & Chelsea win nothing this season. So considering this is Mourinho a specialist in failure?

You could spin it that way I suppose but Maureen is far from a failure.

So Phil, you a Chelsea fan then. To be honest I was pleased when he came back, thought he added a bit of colour and controversy to the PL but it wasn't long before I realised why I was glad he left :). He has talent no denying that but he does tend to frequent the clubs with money, he would never take a job with a club like Arsenal.

Feel sorry for Atletico, a couple of minutes away from winning it. :(

The final score was very harsh on them. It went perfect for Real, equalising in extra time. The most expensive player in the World scoring, and the best player in the World (this year;)) scoring too.

I wanted Altetico and Derby to win, and they didn't. :( Glad I didn't put money on them. ;)

Redhead17, can you also hope for us to be relegated next year ;)

No problem, I think I already do. :-)

Especially if QPR don't pay the fines they are liable for for breaking the Championship's Financial Fair Play Rules. Apparently they won the 'biggest game in football' worth £120m, so they should have no problem paying anything they are liable for. ;-)

Good God no :)
Whoops

I know we won the league at a canter last year with this squad so everybody will point at the difference being Moyes but I'm not quite ready to get my pitchfork out for him yet.

Apologies, no offence intended :)

Some good results all round. Great news that QPR won - I couldn't have faced Steve McLaren in the Premiership what with the memories of his Dutch accent still fresh...and it's nice to see old Harry confound his critics.

Good fun watching Simeone implode under the weight of his own hair gel as Atletico ran out of steam and ideas....

The best news of all is that a certain cheating Uruguayan might be out of the World Cup due to knee surgery. There might be a few Ghanaians that'll be raising a glass to that!

Great game Orient v Rotherham. Best game of the weekend imho. Two of the best goals too.

Though I think Orient were the better team overall. Pity it went to penalties, but well done Rotherham.

I'm not sure how Harry confounded his critics. He struggled to achieve the absolute minimum expected of him.

Don't worry I'm sure we'll pay everything we legally have to! ;) Or maybe we'll get some last minute huge value stadium sponsorship like some other teams do.....

It will be interesting what the football league do, potentially huge amounts of money at stake. Lots of other issues though, clubs going into Administration then managing to sign players for lots of money straight after - pretty sure Southampton did this but no-one mentions that now. That said we did it also....

To be fair he had a small budget and squad so he did a great job in the circumstances! Let's see how he does next year, if he stays around. I am no fan.

Expected of him by whom? Certainly not by me or many other fans. Many feared we'd do a Wolves and slip down another division, many others were hoping for a season of stabilisation and rebuilding. Even the owners said that it wouldn't be a tragedy if we weren't promoted back at the first attempt.

No, these expectations were from those who looked purely at the reports aout how much money was flying around which didn't tell the whole story. Then there were the TV commentators who kept banging on about the "premier league stars" in the QPR team. Players with premier league experience, yes, but stars? No.

This is where we disagree - I will admit to a slight pathological hatred of Harry. We did become more solid under him defensively in the Championship, I'll give him that, and of course ultimately we have been promoted which was the ultimate goal.

That said his team selections and tactics have appeared completely random numerous times, many games have been dull beyond belief and nothing has ever been his fault. Signing players seems to be the ultimate answer to everything. We have so many players I literally have forgotten about a number of them. For me the club has really lost it's identity with all the player changes.

Anyway, hopefully he will prove me wrong next year and I'll be back on here eating humble pie. We have a nucleus of players we can retain and play in the Premier League, and if we do that instead of ripping the team apart as we did last time we have a chance. Let's wait and what Fernandes and Harry do.

Hmm, not sure there's anything we've disagreed on there tbh. I'm not Harry's biggest fan either but I don't particularly dislike him either. I've also been frustrated with some of his team selections, especially in defence. In the 2nd half of the season, Dunne made a lot of mistakes but Harry insisted on starting him every game (so there is a certain irony in that he was MoM yesterday, not that he didn't deserve it). Don't get me started on BAE!

It is very rarely I could say that I "hated" somebody, but this man really gets to me. He had a very good squad this year and it's true that on a game to game basis, he has the tactical nouse, but for a squad full of stars Chelsea play some dire football, and his attitude stinks. Everything has to be about him, he's an arrogant over rated substitute for managers like Wenger and Fergy. What was really ironic was a Chelsea fan told me I should be more "humble" when singing the praises of Arsenal's FA Cup win.

I feel sorry for Derby, but being from London, it makes me feel good that although we have lost Fulham out of the Prem, they will be replaced with another local side. I don't care to much for Harry, it's probably the Spuds connection, but I think he could have done a job for England.

As for the Madrid's, I'm glad the greasy t*** lost out, still unfinished business going back to the Beckham incident there, and I don't know why, but I was really willing Bale on during the game. He certainly looked better than Ronaldo in that game. I don't know what all the fuss is about regarding Bezema, I've yet to see him have a decent game for Real.

Malcolm Glazer has died.

So, a new 3 year, £24m deal for Wenger.

Oi, @cambsno ! You crying into your beer? :D

Just got off the phone to the Samaritans!!!

Any danger of us keeping Podolski & Giroud and adding 2 quality strikers, as well as a tough mid, right back and centre back?

We all have different coping methods.

Wembley opted for the Mexican wave and I opted for nodding off.

A win is a win though and hopefully we can push on and get some momentum going against Ecuador and Honduras.

Hoping for some positive signs tonight - getting close.

I really don`t get the hysteria about Wilshere, he spends more time diving around than Ronaldo.

Could somebody explain why he is even in the squad?

Apart from the fact he's made of glass - he's a quality player but he seems to need so much time.

Sterling seemed to think it was a Champions League final the way he went flying in on Valencia although Valencia's reaction was a bit OTT. 2 reds was Probably correct

Good to see Lambert get a goal and fingers crossed for Milner - looked like a sore one and he could be important.

I know he's not first choice but Foster's kicking always worries me.

Agree about Sterling and Valencia Phil, stupid tackle and stupid reaction.

Edit,............. do the red cards carry into the world cup, that is, does he now carry a ban of some sort?

No world cup implications with the red cards as far as I know.

Sterling was not a red card. A foul maybe but not a red.

Agreed, did seem a bit harsh. My biggest concern is how many games ITV have compared to BBC. Not sure how much of their c*rap coverage and commentary I can cope with for a month! :D

At the risk of being declared insane... Thought I would share a strong feeling I had today...

England to be 2-0 down in the World Cup final, before we come back to 2-2 with lambert then grabbing the winner with 5 mins to go!

The way the Rickie Lambert story is going, you wouldn't be too surprised. :D

He is living a movie story life! Let go as a teenager by his home time club. Falling into the lower leagues and having to get a proper job working his way up through the leagues, scoring more and more as he moves from club to club. Helping a team rise two divisions into the Premier League. Getting picked for England, and scoring. Getting picked for the World Cup, and then getting bought by the home town club who let you go in the first place. He only needs to win some silverware to top it off.

If he was American and played baseball, they'd be a movie about him for sure.

Jeez, the ITV muppets are so negative.

During the break for the weather they came over as so angry and wanting the game to end. They are being paid to watch football, in other words a paid holiday, and it sounded like they didn't want the game to go on. They seemed to be so worried about how long they would have to waffle for that they just wanted it to end it. Thank God David Coleman never had that attitude over the years during all the unexpected happenings he had to cover during sporting events. Now that was a broadcaster. After the game they hardly have anything positive to say.

Adrian Chiles "In the last 10 seconds Lee let's finish with something positive!"

I'm not saying be overly positive, but at the same time don't do the opposite, especially with no reason to. England haven't been beaten, and created some chances. See what happens during the first match v Italy.

And as for the commentating, hopefully Andy Townsend won't be able to be involved in too many World Cup matches. He irritates me so much. I dread having to listen to him during any of Liverpool's Champions League games next season.
