Apparently best win ratio of any spurs manager. Wonder what exactly the Spurs board were looking for? I thought he made a few gaffs in his stint, his outburst against the players was embarrassing, but felt he deserved at least the start of a new season.

True, though always easier to have a higher win % over a shorter period of time. Levy's not stupid, he basically gave him a 6 month contract until the end of the season whilst he scouted for someone else. I guess he wants a higher profile, more experienced manager.

Spurs are a complete joke. They wasted the Bale money or rubbish and get through managers all the time. Sherwood did as good as anyone could given what he had.

Well done Leyton Orient, through to Wembley as well. Hope they do it.

So do I hope the O's can win this time, lost out last two play off finals.
It's me daughters birthday on final day and got a hot air balloon ride booked at Rutland Water that morning.
Trying to work out the logistics of getting to Wembley in time

Good luck to QPR as well, both got a tough task I reckon

An experienced manager apparently. Not sure they wanted him spending any money?
latest rumour is the Southampton manager

He'd be mad to grasp that nettle wouldn't he? If Southampton can keep some of their players they'll be going places next year... I guess it all depends on how well some of them do in the heat of Brazil!

Southampton striker and defender seem hot property though. Would they move with the manager to Spurs? (ever the optimist)

Shaw to Spurs about as likely as Messi to MK Dons.

Thanks - my boss is a Leyton Orient fan - he will be unbearable if you go up and we don't. If we are in the same league I hope we can gain some revenge for the League Cup defeat to you a few years back - he still goes on about it now! But him apart I do genuinely want you to go up, Russell Slade looks like he has done a great job on a very limited budget. I was tempted to go and watch you last year when you had Rowlands and Cook playing for you, two of my favourite ex QPR players.

Good luck getting to the match - I'm more worried about a potential hangover as I'd planned a rare big night out the day before.

Under 21 Premier League Final earlier tonight

Man United 1 : 2 Chelsea

Probably a deserved win in the end.

BIG day today. Have been away on a business trip since Wednesday, I'm desperately short of sleep, but can't doze because I've never been to a Wembley cup final before. Everyone has Arsenal as out & out favourites, but I just keep thinking back to that day against Birmingham.

Yep big day here too - St Johnstone v Dundee United in the Scottish Cup final :)

GOAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saints 2:0 Dundee United

5 mins away from the first major trophy in 130 years

Well, that eventually ended up OK. I have a bit of a sore head after one or two drinks after the game, but a 9 year monkey off our backs.

What price Aaron Ramsey ?

Good luck to Gateshead today at Wembley, hope you achieve promotion again to the Football league, its been a long wait 54 years.

Hope you enjoyed getting the sore head. As a neutral it was a great game.

We were out last night at a party which just happened to coincide with Saints first ever major trophy. Nine years is a long time for Arsenal but Saints waited 130 years. I've a sore head too today but I suspect there are many folk here in Perthshire nursing :beer:worse.

Open top bus parade through the fair city today :)

No way... best of luck to Cambridge Utd - not been outside the top 2 this season, a club that should not be non league!!!

Well it certainly wasn't our best performance but it was a great game in terms of excitement and the result!

Strangely, I didn't feel unduly concerned when we went 1 and then 2 goals down. My first thought was get a goal back before half time and this match will be ours. From the sound of things I was one of the few calm/confident Gooners at that stage!

It's a fitting end to our season that Ramsey should score the winning goal; his form this season has been absolutely remarkable!

A special mention needs to go to Lee Probert and his team, who were all utterly inept from first whistle to the last. He's hardly had a glowing career - there have been plenty of blemishes to date - so it's a mystery to me how he ever ever got to officiate at such a high level. How we failed to get any of the 4 credible penalty shouts is an absolute farce. That said, one telling decision did go our way for the corner Koscielny scored from but we were certainly hard done by overall.

Still, it wasn't enough to spoil the right result in the end. I woke up with such a smile still on my face this morning!

It's also worth mentioning the difference it made going 4-4-2 with Sanogo. Anyone denying his talent hasn't seen him closely enough!

But most of all I'm delighted for Wenger. The best moment of the day was when Wenger held the trophy aloft :D

Sonogo is a strange one. He has talent, but it's very raw. He also has pace, something Giroud lacks, and for somebody so young, he has a great deal of confidence.

Having been a season ticket holder for a few years, and attending games regularly, I have to say that Giroud is just not good enough. His first touch is poor and seeing as he's such a big guy, he gets knocked around very easily. Ramsey has been a very bright ray of sunlight this season, he oozes confidence and has a very calm, composed head on his shoulders. That finish was just sublime, and agree that it is very fitting that he scored the winning goal.

Most of us were fairly calm yesterday, we knew that Hull couldn't keep that tempo up, especially in the heat, and if we went in at half time at 2-1 we would get there in the end. I think Wenger held his nerve well yesterday, waiting for Hull to tire before bringing on the pace and directness of Rosicky and Wilshire.

I like Giroud - his goal the other week showed an amazing 1st touch - I just feel that he would benefit having a) Someone to play alongside him and b) not be the ONLY striker we have, he cannot play virtually every game.

Sonogo runs a lot and seems to put the effort in but don't think he has scored and seems to have little composure. I would have no problem if he was a 4th/5th choice but as it is, he is our 2nd striker! No team looking to win the league will have a striker that weak as a 2nd striker.

What a great day for all Cambridge United supporters after nine years of non-league football. The last ten minutes were agonising but at last the wait is over. Third time lucky in the play-offs and the bonus of the FA Trophy too, although I'm glad we won't be able to defend it next season :)

That last 10 mins were the worst of any match. The thought of conceding and doing 30 mins et with 10 men was horrible. Good to see miller our captain on pitch for celebrations albeit in a wheelchair, 8 months out though.

I actually think we play like a lower league Chelsea. Can soak pressure very well.

Who are folk rooting for in the Champions League final tonight then ?

I still like to see Ronaldo doing well and with Bale there's the British connection.

On the other hand the whole 'La Decima' thing is doing my head in and it would be nice to see Atletico get one over (again) on their more illustrious neighbours.

I'm on the fence.

I've wanted Atletico to win since seeing their performance against Barca. Couldn't give a stuff about 'British connections' :D
It's annoying in commentary where they struggle to find a player with Premiership connections in European games, so they bang on about the refs instead - christ, Harry Webb wasn't even involved in the last Bayern game and they were praising him (obviously not for his singing career;)!

Do you mean Howard Webb and his YNWA :facepalm:rendition rather than Cliff Richard ?

Hoping for a Derby win today. QPR have been run quite badly and I wouldn't like them to benefit from the mismanagement. Just read an interesting article about how QPR could be penalised for flouting the Championships Financial Fair Play Rules if they don't go up, but could get away with it if they do.
Derby haven't started well though. :(

As for the Champions League, I want Atletico to win because they are the underdog, and they have done things right rather than just the spend spend spend of Real. I think €1B spent in the last 10 year or so.

It would be a stunning double for Atletico too, which nobody would have predicted at the start of the season. Nevermind at the start of the season, no one but a very blinkered Atletico fan could have predicted the chance of a double like that, but to be one game away from doing that must be amazing for Atletico fans.

Madrid would be a great place to be tonight, but if Atletico win, OMG.

So it'll probably be a QPR / Real double today then. ;)

I just hope for good games though. So far the Playoff has been disappointing. :(

Tears of joy here. How we won, I'll never know but 10/10 for a fantastic defensive display.
Jammy sods, gotta feel for Derby its a cruel game sometimes. Oh well I always though Harry would do it

Yep, Derby fans must be absolutely gutted but we gave a masterclass in how to defend after O'Neill's red card. The way Green's performed this season, he should be on the plane to Brazil next nonth but I don't think he'll ever be forgiven for 2010.

The Play-offs. Best way to get promoted, worst way to miss out. Absolutely fantastic to see my team lift a trophy at Wembley!

I hate the playoffs my team has never had any success from them (Leeds) personally if its not auto promotion i don't want to know. Congrats btw you must well chuffed

I'm still in a state of disbelief if I'm honest. I was almost willing Derby to score at one point to put us out of our misery!!

But yes, massively chuffed. Can't wait for next season.

As for Leeds, I'm just about old enough to remember the glory years of Bremner et al. Very fond memories of that era.

Same, not celebrated a goal so much in a while. One shot on target all game, played poorly (both teams 1sr half) though as you say great defensive display. At one stage we were so deep it was like a slow torture. On way home- was it a sending off, looked to be running away from goal? Junior had a good game and did well for the goal, and Bobby great in the semi-final and great goal today. In conclusion:
Did we deserve it? No
Was it a great match? No
Do I care? No
:-)

Had wanted Derby to win, but loved Fernandes interview after game - genuine passion and pleased for him.

I'm sure either fabs or akr said they were glad to see the back of the premier league when QPR were relegated ;)
