Until Liverpool had their glory years in the 70s and 80s the rivalry was always strongest between city and United but Liverpools glory years coincided with us being particularly bad hence you had to find new rivals and we just got more and more bitter!

A couple more titles for the sky blue warriors and the rivalry will reignite again

I

Clearly advantage City but regardless it will make for another interesting final day.

A few weeks ago, things at the top & bottom of the Premier League were very tight and it was looking like the last day of the season was going to be very exciting. Unfortunately, all the relegation places are decided, along with the Europa League and only a complete shock will have any influence on where the title.

So we've ended up with 8/10 games being dead rubbers and only an extremely remote chance of the other 2 affecting anything. Definitely an anti-climax, especially for the neutral

It's been an amazing season on so many levels, expecting everything to be decided on the last day of the season was a bit greedy. ;)

It could have been a season where one team ran away with it, and the rest 4-5 squabbling over Champions League places. It could have been 2-3 teams at the bottom adrift since the turn of the year. I think it's been one of the best (Premier League) seasons ever.

A bit too many manager changes for me though, some seemed justified at the time, some seemed odd, but then some worked, so you can't be too harsh on teams for trying it when things are going very badly. It's a magical season for Sunderland fans, and that wouldn't have been possible under Di Canio. And Palace would probably been down without Pulis going there. Change a manager 2+ times though...

Its been a great season made all the better for the three way fight for the title. The resurgence of LFC is a good thing for the Premiership and living in Liverpool you can really feel what it has done for the City. Anything can happen on the last day and if anyone can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory its City. Its never dull....... Having gone a little grey a few years ago when watching my team play Gillingham in the play offs at Wembley and scoring two in the last five minutes to drag us into extra time, then suffering the last game in 2012 against QPR to finally win the title, being at Wembley when Wigan outclassed us last year in the FA cup final, I take nothing for granted. Last night was fantastic, particularly Yaya's charge through Villa's defence for that last goal. Sunday will be stressful and as usual I will have hardly slept prior to the game. I hope we will do it, and we should do it, but am I confident??????? I've been watching them for over 45 years having first gone with my Dad aged 3, and I never feel confident. Its inbuilt. Having lived in Liverpool for the past ten years its been an interesting season. Every time I come back from the match now my voicemail is full and the stick has intensified considerably. Its been brilliant whatever happens.

Chris :)

Undeniable that it's been a great Premier League season. I think it's just he fact that, as there were 3 teams in with a shout with a couple of games to go, it raise expectations of a grandstand finish to the last day so it's going to be a bit of a damp squib by comparison.

Of course, if West Ham are 3-0 up at half time.................... ;)

A couple ? ;)

Europa League isn't completely sorted.

I obviously want United to win their last game but I don't want Spurs to loose otherwise we go above them.

Anyone know what the City fans (and United the previous night) were singing about Gerrard?

I thought Hull and Sunderland would get the other 2 places, as well as Everton?

Steve Gerrard, Gerrard,
He fell on his f***ing arse,
And gave it to Demba Ba,
Steve Gerrard, Gerrard...

You get the feeling he won't be allowed to forget that slip, ever.

Haha :). Thanks!

Quite funny actually.

Does 6th place get a Europa spot then? Not that it will make Sunday any more exciting.
Yup. As city won the mickety mouse trophy, unlike the FA cup, the runner up does not get a place, but it goes to the next place in the league ... 5th being an automatic qualification

United will get Europa if they win and Spurs lose.

So Semi-Final first leg tonight Wigan v QPR, after Derby's win last night, return leg Monday which seems soon.

Awaiting which team Redknapp selects, just thinking about it makes me realise how much I hope he leaves in the summer whatever the outcome of the play-offs. Thank the lord he never became England manager.

Strange season, finishing 4th ordinarily would be happy with historically as a QPR fan, loved the play-offs last time we were in them. All feels different this time, so much disaffection with the manager, chairman and players, repeating the same mistakes etc etc. The contrast with Derby, and Burnley is striking. Still Harry has had to work on a limited budget so you've got to feel sorry for him.

Looking forward to being in the ground Monday, been a while since my last visit, should be rocking. Well at least until we start playing.

Anyway not long now - I will be full steam positive ahead once the match starts, thankfully.

Never ever

So today's the day. City will beat WH I'm sure, but second will be a great achievement for us. Adding Lallana would be a great signing. I just hope we invest in decent defenders too.

Liverpool have conceded to many goals Dean, simple as that really mate. Why doesn`t Rogers play Agger?

Although football is a simple game, I'm not a believer in things being that simple. If liverpool had been better in defence, surely their attack and goals scored would have suffered? Some of those wins may well have ended up as draws.

I think both clubs looked at Liverpools season this year without Europa and neither will actually want that competition with the position they are in currently

Part of me would be happy to see United in Europa and give the youths a chance to experience it. More than likely though, we'll just buy experience and tease the youngsters for a couple of years before losing them.

Oh, I think everyone agrees with that. Agger has struggled with injury and form against powerful forwards. BR sees Sakho as the future, I guess.

It's always a shame when you follow the youngsters progress into to see them sold on without a chance. I like how Brendan had given several fringe players a taste of the first team in tough situations so they know that they have a chance if they work hard. High hopes for many of them.

The number one priority is to be back in the mix next season with Champions Leauge qualification a must.

If this season's United turn up again next season it won't matter either way but, I'd like to think we'll be improved next season and have the advantage of no European football.

Yes, an absolute tragedy that is overshadowed by others.

the bradford fire RIP the 56.. 29 years ago today horrible tragedy.

Blimey - can't believe it's that long ago.

I remember watching it all unfold live on the TV.

Anyway - off out shortly so will probably miss this afternoon's football. Good luck to the Liverpool and City fans on here however it pans out.

Congrats to Man City and well done to Liverpool for giving us a great season.

Well done City (even if you should have walked it ;) )

I am happy with second place, just need to make sure we start strongly next season.

Great season. I hope we kick on next year but the pressure will be on and I'm not overly confident that we'll cope.

A lot will depend on summer signings. We need to sort out the defence and also be able to expand the squad to deal with Champions League........... ohhhh feels good typing that :)

I guess only time will tell. I'd happily welcome Lallana to Anfield, but the backline needs some serious investment. A world class left back is essential in our system.

I think everybody is after a quality left sided full back. Luke Shaw seems to be flavour of the month.

gone a bit here
