All this talk of hope, favours and bubbles bursting - You Liverpool fans need to man up and get some confidence.

You have the same chance as any of the other title contenders this year.

Great display by Liverpool
Couldn't understand why Moyes didn't make the subs earlier, he really lost the tactical battle early on, so it was clear to see he had to do something to affect the game.

Come on, you've been there and know how tough it is after so long a wait.

After many years of not getting close it leaves one with the sense that the 'bubble will burst '. To go from 7th to 1st without a huge amount of being spent is unheard of. If it happens, amazing, but just enjoying the ride and trying to keep our feet on the ground. :)

After a few years out of contention hopefully Utd fans will be as wary of getting too excited. ;)

Jeez ... didn't want to waste the glorious sunshine and sit in watching a drubbing so went Whipsnade. Curiosity got the better of me and I went into Dunstable to watch the game, but headed back to the zoo at half time :D
I'm sticking with Moyes for the time being still, but am questioning myself, "why!?"

26 years we waited.

You're what, 24 ?

I know exactly what you lot are going through and during the premier league you have spent more than anybody other than City and Chelsea.

I've said for ages that with City, United and Chelsea under new managers and no champions league gives Liverpool a great chance this year.

I agree that 7th To 1st is unheard of but right now, you are where you are and the title is on.

I'm just unsure who I want to win it lol

Yes we can we it, but to win it we need to win all of our games and hope others drop points. Hence why I think 2nd is are best finish. Top 4 and I am happy this season.

Sticking with Moyes is essential. It's part of our master plan.

Is that "master plan" or "disaster plan"
Personally, I think Moyes will do a good job given time, but I'm not sure he will be allowed much more than another season.

His teams are too staid and predictable for Man Utd.

Top four is pretty much a shoe in now.

3 points and 12 months bragging rights. Lucky win but I'm not complaining.

Really? Spurs are 9pts behind but if we lost to Spurs, Citeh, Chelsea then that gap has gone (big if but not one I will take likely).

I will be more confident if we have got the spurs game and won them all. I'd rather not get my hopes up yet (even if my heart is singing for it)

Before the Spurs game I was expecting a stuffing - we destroyed them. Before the Arsenal game I was expecting to lose - we annihilated them. Before the Southampton game I was expecting to lose - we did a professional number on them. Before the United game I expected to have a rude awakening - we easily beat them without having to try very hard at all.

I'm prepared to believe that we're good enough to beat Spurs at home. I think that based on the performance and that we lost due to a wrongly disallowed goal and a goalkeeping gaff at City whilst they were at their best, we can beat them at home. Chelsea is the last game in our fixture list that I think may be a challenge. I think Maureen will park the bus - he has to because they have no chance of out firepowering us. I'd take a point there.

Well the Chel$ki game is a couple of hours I won't get back. Galatasaray were very poor. But Chel$ki did the job.

Just seen this on Yahoo.

I'll let you off with that one redhed given that you've had to wait so long you're still waiting ;)

Perches aren't handed out willy nilly every May like single league titles ;)

They grow slowly with a dozen titles or so over a couple of decades. Some years they slow down or don't grow at all.

We'll see how we've progressed next season with CL to contend with.

So glad the United game is on Sky 1 tonight ... we dont have Sky Sports and I didn't fancy a trip to the pub.

I still genuinely feel that the lads have it within them to get through tonight and damn well expect them to do a bit more than "try!"

I remember the game at OT in 84 when United (or Robson) beat Maradona's Barca 3:0 after loosing the 1st leg 0:2 - One of my favourite nights at OT that was.

More of the same tonight please although I feel our season will be over after tonight.

5 mins gone and Antonio Valencia is already down to one eye.

Perhaps his body will compensate and he'll have 2 feet now.

Decent first half performance and a 2:0 lead.

Still lots to do as I think we're going to need 4 on the night as I don't see us keeping a clean sheet.

I half expected you to win 3-0 tonight, but I, unlike a certain ex member, could never bet on that. I'm still hoping for an away goal. ;)

Although you winning tonight and then drawing Barca or Real appeals to me.

A good show from a few players tonight and probably Fellaini's finest five minutes :D

You should have put a Scrivens bet on - you would have won a paranoid fortune.

As for the game - joking aside - good to get through but we won't go any further.

Loved to to see Nev taking the pish out of Jamie C tonight regrding s*** teams going on to do well after beating Olympiacos LOL

The banter between those two is excellent.

So, that'll be United getting an absolute tonking then.

Quite probably but you just never know.

That said if we do go out of the competition, I'd rather loose to Bayern then anybody else left in it.

Before Weds, I told a Man U mate that they would beat Olympiakos at least 3-0, i also think Man U have a great chance to win the cup too - Chelsea in 2012 had an awful league season but managed to grind out results in CL

That's a fair point, it was a similar thing when Liverpool won it. It would appear that, to win the UCL, English clubs need to finish outside the top 4 of the premier league (1999 notwithstanding).

RVP out for 4-6 weeks. That's just bloody selfish when we need you lot to throw a spanner in City's works.

It's only fair ... they wont have their top scorer, neither will we.
Problem is, their next top scorer has the same tally of our 2nd & 3rd combined  :$
