sorry Dean, messed my quote editing up ;)
liverpool can definitely win the league this year and i've thought (feared ;) ) that to be the case for a while

Yes we (Liverpool can win it) but a couple of loses and we back to not being close. I look at it and really believe if we are to win it then we will need to win the last 10 games and that is a big ask for any club.

Growing up with the 90's and 00's Liverpool have got my hopes up too many times for them to be dashed. I would rather look back on this season and see a good top 4 finish than another disappointed missing out on the title (even if those seasons have be few and far between).

Also need to add the Pardew incident has been a gift for Liverpool and their win....no one is talking about it!

Stop picking on Liverpool, they gave us £35 million for Andy Carroll . Today im mostly supporting Man city.

How about being top of the Premier League at the final whistle of the final game - then Aguero bangs one in during injury time to put you second :naughty:

Remember Michael Thomas?

Why is it whenever Borini scores, millions dozens of Liverpool fans pipe up and say "he's ours you know".....it wasn't that long ago they were saying he was rubbish!

Not all of us think he's rubbish.

Well done mr mansour

Well done Cit€h and Sunderland.

Sunderland had them worried for over half the game. A good match, and all the goals were good.

Do you know that Borini, he belongs to Liverpool you know. ;) :D

I think Borini is a very good player, he is an Italian International after all, but he is understandably behind Suarez and Sturridge in the Liverpool pecking order, and needed to play regularly this year to play his way into the World Cup. He's certainly scored some crucial goals for Sunderland this season, and if Cit€h hadn't had a few player step up and score a couple of great goals over a period of a few minutes, it could have turned out differently with him possibly scoring the winning goal as the nerves would have got to Cit€h. If and buts though.

I didn't watch the game but from what I'm hearing, Sunderland gave a good account of themselves.

those first two city goals were top draw!

He's sending out a message that he wants to offload Suarez in the summer and bring back the wunderkind Borini ;)

WTF is JH doing?? Coming out with this stuff now when Luis is happy and playing well. I much preferred it when our chairman just STFU. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26414167

A bit odd indeed. Maybe he's sending out a message you won't sell any of your players easily for when Man City \ Chelsea \r Madrid come knocking, who knows. In reality though I thinking he probably could not contain himself and tell the world how stood his ground and look at you know.

On another note, see Pulis will be fining two of his players for diving, bet not many other managers will follow his lead. No question of who is in charge at Palace in a player v manager situation!

Yeah, it could be that. I think he should just shut up though.

Pulis is awesome. I hate the way his teams play, but as a man I like him a lot.

Between them though they did manage to get Cheato Flores sent off so it wasn't all bad!

BTW re QPR, What's the situation with Julio Cesar? Was he dropped as 1st choice due to poor form or was there something else going on?

Am I the only one who is feeling that Pardew is being harshly criticised. Yes, what he did was wrong, but having seen it there is an element of 'handbags'. He didnt put force into it and break a nose! Sure, the FA need to take action, but I thought the player handled him first so he was reacting (which is no excuse) but calling for him to be sacked???

I heard about it without seeing the game, they way people were going on about I was expecting blood, gore, smashed noses and unconscious Hull players. He pushed his head into the Hull player, hardly a head butt.

However, it was a damned stupid thing to do and a dreadful advert for the game. The FA will come down hard on him, rightly so.

While I don't think Pardew should be sacked, he should be harshly dealt with. Just as football players are seen to be an example, the manager is a step above them. He sets the example for the whole club.

A player going head to head in the heat of the game is one thing, especially after a nasty tackle, and the player(s) involved should be rightly penalised, but Pardew went from zero to head but in a fraction of a second. Yes he was pushed, but if he reacts to something like that he should stay out of the New Year sales in the shops. ;) And it is not the first time that he has been involved with trouble on the touchline.

Newcastle have realised how serious it could be dealt with and have tried to diffuse the situation with the internal fine and reprimand.

I agree with the Liverpool Chairman keeping his mouth shut. Just as things calm down and things are going well, someone at Liverpool opens their mouth.  Just play the games. I'm not sure what the reasoning was behind the quote. To show strength against players/agents? They did that in the Summer. To show that £40m wasn't enough? Every unbiased observer can see that Suarez is worth more that £40m, but I'd rather he stayed at Liverpool.

I didn`t watch the final yesterday live, just seen Toures goal now, what an absolute screamer.

Nasris wasn`t bad either.

Toures was the best goal I've seen from someone other than Suarez this season. He just stroked it in from 30 yards!

Re Pardew: I'm still not sure where I stand on this one. I agree that it was out of order and he just lost it and will probably get 10 games, but he doesn't deserve to lose his job.

I know manager of the year always goes to managers at the top, but I honestly think him keeping Palace up from where they were would deserve it, or come close to Rodgers if Liverpool won the League, I'd have to say the latter if you win it though.

BTW re QPR, What's the situation with Julio Cesar? Was he dropped as 1st choice due to poor form or was there something else going on?

Well he's on loan to Toronto now. We decided Green was out number one, worked out having either him on Cesar on the bench was ludicrous even by our standards, and I think expected Cesar to move on as we made him our number 3 keeper. World Cup in Brazil and all that, assume he might want to play some matches to guarantee his place (this is all assumption). Anyway, he said thanks but no thanks, I'll just keep the lovely weekly salary you crazy people offered me and will instead go shopping with my beautiful wife in one of the best cities in the World. So we had a bit of a standoff - I was surprised no-one came in for him, all a bit odd, he is a more than decent keeper.

I thought he was an idiot, but he was not really going to do much physical damage. The perception however is terrible, and I don't know what's wrong with him. Don't Newcastle will fire him as they've already announced his big fine and they are doing ok generally, well when Loic Remy plays...

Anybody watching England ?

Half time and I don't think I'll be needing my Horlicks tonight.

Be interesting to see Luke Shaw but I can't get excited about England till the World Cup starts.

Glad to see Wilshere got up and seemed none the worse for his scare.

Just don't want any injuries to LFC players. Couldn't give a toss about England.

Not great but the last few mins have been better! Why oh why play Hart though - the reserves need as many minutes as they can get.

And why is Forster in the squad - playing in the SPL is like playing in league 1.

What is it with Henderson ?

He never seems to look like he's fully in control of his body.

I lost most of my interest in England Friendlies after the friendly against Australia with 5000 substitutions. For me my what happened to England Friendlies and The F.A Cup are two of the things that sadden me most about football in England.

Talking of international football, for a completely different twist I'm half way through watching this on iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod...14_Soccer_Coach_Zoran_and_his_African_Tigers/ The coach is bonkers, the fa is 'interesting' against the backdrop of political turmoil and tragic humanitarian recent history.

Only positive thing to come out of the England game is that none of our players got injuries. Result is meaningless.

Proper football back soon.

The final one day international against the West Indies was superb entertainment.

Oooops, sorry, wrong thread.

I agree that the result was meaningless but that only seems to ring true when we win.

Friendly or not, had we lost the game tonight the England bashers would be pointing to the defeat so it does matter.

I know we've a slim chance of doing anything at the World Cup but (like Greece) you just never know. If by some sort of miracle we did go and win the flipping thing I bet everybody would want a bit of it.
