We've been awesome for the best part of the season but till rarely get credit from the tosspots on BT who like to focus on how lucky we are every game apparently. We've been lucky a hell of a lot this season then. It's an absolute pleasure watching the boys at the minute. I agree with Ade though. It would be nice to have Aguero back for the Barcelona game. Looks like he will be out a while again though. Nasri was probably our player of the season up to now(along with Negrado) until he was kicked all over the place at Newcastle. It will be good to have him back too.

Transfer deadline day - all pretty boring this year by the looks of it.

Great result for Sunderland today, and very well deserved. Newcastle looked very poor, especially being at home. They have no cutting edge. Sunderland have started scoring goals, and that breeds confidence in throughout the team, and the opposite seems to be happening at Newcastle.

With regards to the Transfer Window, a bit disappointing for Liverpool. If you meet a players valuation, and the player wants move, what can you do if an owner refuses to conclude the deal? It was a very poor showing to let it get down to the final few hours though.

It looked like may have been another one of these transfers that Liverpool lodge an interest, take too long, and someone else nips in an takes them from under our noses, with Spurs allegedly being interested. Thankfully, at least that never happened. Having Spurs nick both Sigurdsson and Dempsey didn't work out too bad for us. For Spurs and the player's themselves though... ;)

It is too early to say whether Chel$ki supposedly nicking Willian and Salah is something we will come to rue. At the end of the day though, if a player doesn't want to play for Liverpool, then fine, Bon Chance. Willian and Salah, and Sigurdsson and Dempsey would have had more opportunities to play in the Liverpool team because their squad is smaller, and doesn't have the depth of Chel$ki or Spurs, but if they go to those clubs because they are Champions League teams, or more likely because of the money, then I personally wouldn't want them anyway.

It would have been nice to get a player into the Liverpool squad, because last year Sturridge and Coutinho made a big difference, but it is hard to get that quality in January, and best to get a player that can go straight into the team in January because fees are normally a bit OTT (Sturridge and Coutinho being exceptions). Build the squad in the Summer, and get (hopefully) key players in January.

Nigel de Jong was talked about as a possible signing, and I think that would have been a good deal as Lucas is injured again, and I don't think we have anyone good enough to play as a defensive midfielder till he comes back, or even to challenge him for that position when he is in the team.

It will be interesting to see if all the Palace incomings upset the positivity they have atm. Players sometimes say they like new faces coming in to freshen the squad, but 4-5 at a time! ;)

For all the neutrals out there, is this really a red card offence for AC? (Flores rolled around on the floor 4 times too)

Red for me. He swung his arm and knew full well what he was doing. He was an idiot to take that risk and make the ref have to decide.

If Villa had held on it would of been a great set of results for Liverpool fans, either why it eases some of the pressure on Liverpool trying to get 4th place.

You're not being neutral enough :)

He's a silly boy though if it was intentional - some key games coming up.

We could argue all day long as to whether there is any intent or not, only Andy Carroll will ever know. What I would like to happen though is the FA to look at why Flores holds his face when the contact is only a skim to the top of the head, not enough to hurt your average granny. Absolutely disgraceful from him. Won't bother holding my breath for FA action though

Going by the expression on his face I would guess it's intentional but it was little more than a handbag moment. Pathetic reaction though.

good result for stoke it sounded like a very open game from both teams.

Typical to see wenger ballsing up in the transfer window again!! To be fair, I can't see anyone finishing ahead of city, but we are 2nd in the table, yet don't buy a striker when we have only have one (giroud). Totally crazy as if he gets injured or banned we have no strikers!!! Then we go and loan a mid who is now out for 6 games, exactly the time we needed him!

I have to agree, Red for me too. It doesn't look too bad but the intent was there. If Flores had been an inch or two higher he would have caught the fore arm straight in the face, and then there are possible nose and cheek fractures. He tried to hurt Flores, and it's only luck that he didn't do some real damage. Yes, Flores rolled around, but he did get hit. I don't think I could brush off a fore arm fro Andy Carroll.

Great results by Stoke and Hull today.

Pathetic acting by Flores, no doubt Carroll caught him on the top of the head but if Flores hadn't of gone down it wouldn't of been a booking. Looking at the original tackle I reckon Flores thinks he's more likely to get a yellow for jumping at Carroll and took any thoughts of that from the ref with his action. You can see Carroll's got his arm extended from pushing Flores off him way before he swings around and hits him. I, like the BBC Sport and Sky websites, think it was very harsh and I think WHU will have at least a 50/50 chance of having the card rescinded. I also think the FA 'should' look into Flores' acting as his reaction was nearly as bad as Rivaldo in the 2002 world cup.

Some very interesting results today, shame Villa couldn't of held on for a draw, Southampton looking very good again (almost like earlier on in the season again), Sunderland with an excellent victory and seem to be improving well under Gus Poyet, Tottenham still not over their drubbing from Citeh earlier on in the week, Big Sam dragging WHU back into this century with a win, Ole Solksjaer having a good time in Wales and a much improved Stoke getting the win against Man Utd. It's looking very tight down at the bottom, any team in the bottom half could still get sucked into a scrap and the top end looking nearly as tight too.

Agree 100%. I am still 50-50 as to it being a red, I can see why it should and why it shouldn't be... however, Flores is a disgrace and the FA (if they had any balls or common sense but they don't) should ban him for 5 games for that play acting. Don't see them recinding the card.

Another opportunity wasted by Liverpool. :( You have to be winning games like this to be successful. They didn't seem as sharp as against Everton. Shocking mistake by Toure to gift Anichebe the opportunity to score.

Well done West Brom, they looked better than their position suggests.

Problem we have had with lesser opposition, players do not seem up for the game. As if they can walk it.

It is a problem Liverpool have had for many years. We're not the only ones, Citeh have had some slip ups this season, and they have been blowing most teams away. All of the top half have, but Liverpool especially seem to ease up after a big game like the mid week one. Two steps forward, one step back, but at least we're going forward. :)

That was the plus for Utd during the Ferguson years, they rarely lost, but they rarely lost against the lower teams, which is why you're seeing stats like they haven't lost to 'x' for so many year, or 'y' for so many years. When you have been so dominant for so long, stats like that start to crop up more often as the form dips.

Well next for Liverpool it is Arsenal followed by Fulham, so we'll see if the pattern continues. ;)

Tight at the top - in some ways it's hard to see past Chelsea or City, but Arsenal remain top so who knows.

Fulham look in real trouble but still time. Poyet and Pulis, would like to see them both keep their clubs up.

Football genius who can contact any manager in the world Joe Kinnear has left it appears http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26027652 having not actually signed anyone permanently but having sold 'Kebab'.

From one farcical situation to the next Leeds firing their manager, to then re-instate him (as the prospective new owners had not completed the takeover yet) = bet he can't wait for the takeover to go through.

What did I say???

How the FA managed to not overturn the red card is a mystery - everyone seems to think it was harsh, but the FA show yet MORE incompetence! Why oh why can't clubs just go on strike until we get a fit for purpose governing body?

Surprised Swansea have sacked Laudrup. Seems like not too long ago they were worried about someone coming to steal him away. Who will be Swansea's next manager is a very important decision, not to lose all the good work over the last couple of years.

I think the FA got it correct with Carroll. His his arm came around with a little more power than an arm swinging with the momentum of just turning. Also, when he does make contact he pulls his arm down and behind himself, which is not the natural movement of a swinging arm. If your arm is swinging and you accidentally hit something, you make some attempt stop or pull your arm out of the way, he didn't, and his expression didn't change. Not something that happens if you are not expecting to hit something. Only Carroll knows for definite, but the independent panel have backed the Ref's decision.

Swansea town sack boss Michael Laudrup and Garry Monk now in charge for the south wales derby on saturday.

Carroll was right to get a red card, you could see in his expression that he meant it.

Chelsea gave us a lesson on Monday night.

Laudrap gone from Swansea, seems strange.

Fulham beaten again, could be a very bad season for them.

Great start to the weekend for us Liverpool fans. Not sure who I want to win the in Spurs V Everton match, maybe a draw would be the best result for us.

I was wondering which Liverpool team would turn up, and luckily enough it was the good one. :)

They blew Arsenal away in the first 20 minutes.

It will be interesting to hear how Wenger will explain this result. ;)

Having beaten the top of the table team, will the other Liverpool turn up against Fulham on Wednesday.

Edit:
Arsenal were poor and Liverpool played well
I didn't expect Wenger to be honest, as he normally isn't. ;)

Would of liked to be a fly on the wall in the Arsenal dressing room at halftime, would of been fun I reckon. It's a great result for Liverpool but they really need to kick on against Fulham, the West Brom result was a shocker. I can't wait for MOTD tonight, hopefully some of the other results will go for us as well, but I kinda doubt it. An Everton/Tottenham draw would be a great result for us too.

Wenger out!!!!

Yet again we have no bottle/fight for the big games.

I bet it's been killing you!

In amongst Liverpool's goals we also nearly had two from Suarez as good as you'll ever see. That 30 yard volley and free kick. Wow!

Lets hope they show them on MoTD, I am hoping for this intensity when I am at Anfield to watch them play Swansea. (Gutted it will probably be the last game I see this season).

If we played with that pressing and intensity every week we'd walk the league. Trouble is it's hard to do every game with a small squad.

Weirdest game, I've seen in a lont time! Score could just as well have been 8-1... sigh.

Apparently u only beat us because Arsenal simply did not turn up. Had they turned up it would have been a closer game apparently. I did not see it so only going by ear say. But I highly doubt Arsenal played at their very best.

I don't think any team in the world would slaughter Arsenal at there very best.

So speaketh the men who didn't watch it.

Yet we beat them in November

The odd game maybe, but just based on what I think (so not looked back and analysed), what is our record v man c, Man U and Everton over last few years? This season we seem to beat the other teams but not the bigger ones. I would say Liverpool in nov was not a big game as people thought they were just doing well after an easy start. Too many of our players (cazorla especially) seem to go missing in big important games.

On a side note, I have to say that Rodgers for me (at this moment) should be fave for manager of the year. Has turned them into a very good side and got the most out of people like Henderson while I would rather see Flanagan ahead of Johnson for England. Only other manager who I think has done as well is pullis!
