Quite a few Everton fans I know also echo the stagnant nature of moyes leadership. Also they are a little peeved that moyes leaves them on a free. They felt he shou have signed a contract at Everton before this happened so that united would have needed to buy him out and inject some money into the club

It's the Everton boards incompetence that allowed Moyes to leave on a free. When he said he would wait until the Summer, the board should have been on him like a shot to either sign an extension or leave; even it was just a years extension. They knew this day was coming but sat idly by and did sod all. I think the final straw was them sitting on the cash in January and not bringing in 2 more players.

I don't feel we grew stagnant under Moyes, we've grown stagnant due the incompetent, disgrace of a board! Moyes was doing all he can to keep us moving forward, but for every step forward the board dragged him/us back 3 steps.

I hope he does well at United, he's deserved this shot at winning trophies...God knows he would never have one with Everton, sadly!

Interesting. Who would you like to take control now? Are you a Martinez fan or is there someone else you have in mind?

I think Kenwright should give Martinez a good go - I'm not into the whole success straight away thing - Martinez is a good Manager and I think he would keep Everton in the Prem (assuming Baines and Fellaini go).

I think most people would have though Fergie would have carried on for years more. I was brought up as a United hater by my father (bizarrely rather than a Liverpool hater, although I seem to have developed that myself, although I l hated Liverpool more probably because I went to university with "true United fans"- I went/go to Uni in Manchester and most of my friends are life long supporters - statistically my most followed football club in the last couple of years is Ajax having seen them play both United and City in Europe :help:)

He was never going to get more money at Everton. But he could he could have won one at Everton, he had long enough! Joe Royle did, and he was facing relegation at the time!

TBH I'm an Everton fan rather than a football fan (I really spend my weekend playing and watching Rugby Union).

I'm a Cardiff and Everton fan, now the're both in the same league I'm not sure what I can do

Joe Royle may have won the FA Cup but he nearly got Everton relegated, and people are willing to risk that for winning a cup! I'm all for FA Cup glory, but once you're out of the Premier League it's very hard to get back, and Everton have no experience of being down there. :shake: Flirt around the bottom too often, and you'll probably go down at some point. :shake:

I can't believe that some Everton fans feel that Moyes was in some way negative for Everton. He has put together teams and got the maximum out of them, finishing in the top half of the table for the most part. Cups can sometimes be a the luck on the draw. He was never going to do much better in the league without money, and his successor will not have much to spend, and will inevitably want to change the team. A possible recipe for disaster. It will be more interesting though with all the ups and downs, which is apparently what some Everton fans want.

Top half of the table security, and challenging for European places is too boring for some of them. ;) I think some people should look up the meaning of the word 'mediocrity'. Only finishing outside the top 8 twice in the time he was at Everton doesn't sound mediocre to me. :shake: Can't please some people though.

I think many Everton fans will say that now that he's leaving and a lot of ABUs will naturally make the point.

Which is pretty impressive given what he's had to work with - recognised by 3 LMA manager of the season awards. I guess some Everton fans will be old enough to remember the mid 80s though when they were the best team in the country.

Being a Wolves fan man and boy, I'd settle for the dull mediocrity the 'shocking board' and Moyes have bought to Everton over his tenure there.

Mancini shown the door........

I think they've been hampered by Mancini if I'm honest. Yes he's won stuff but a competent manager would have done so much more with them.

This is what I was saying a while ago. For the quality they have they've massively under-performed. Mancini's constant tinkering with squad, and particularly the back line (going from a 3 back to a 4 back, swapping CB pairing etc.), has played a massive part in their failings.

The Express quoting the 'Wayne Rooney' thread on Red Cafe saying we've lost patience with Rooney.

A thread on fans' forum redcafe.net entitled Wayne Rooney has attracted over 1.1million views and nearly 10,000 posts, with many of the most recent ones venting their displeasure at Rooney's actions.

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...fans-call-on-David-Moyes-to-sell-Wayne-Rooney

Whilst this is probably true (United fans getting fed up with him) it amazes me how many direct quotes from Red Cafe turn up on the web and in newspapers. Some of the stuff they could quote would make for some fun.

I was shocked to learn the Wimbledon v Liverpool FA Cup Final was 25 years ago.

I obviously remember it was 1988 but it really shocked me to learn it was that long ago.

I remember it well as it was my first 'PUB' cup final.

Thinking back 83,84,85,86,87,88 was a great run of finals.

For me, the run between 72 & 82 was the greatest. In 72, I was an Arsenal fan and was so disappointed when Leeds won the final. My dad, being Shepherds Bush born & bred, wouldn't take me to Highbury and started to take me to Loftus Road. I can remember every final from there to 82 when, once again, I was able to watch my team play (and lose!)

I was a bit young in 72 :D
77 Final was the first United game I went to (taken to)
79 I didn't go to.
83 I missed the draw but we went to the 4:0 replay
85 Final was my first trip to Wembley with my mates rather than being taken.
I wonder whether a Wigan victory would be a greater shock than Wimbledon. Probably not.

The FA Cup Final

The season comes to a close, the league is done & dusted and it's the following Saturday. The cup final is shown live on BBC1 & ITV with coverage starting at midday, fun & games leading up to the 3pm kick off in the Wembley sunshine and that gloriously traditional end to the English football season.

Except that it isn't! Now it's the weekend before the last games of the season, kick off is at the ridiculous time of 5.15pm and there is a premier league game earlier in the day and a load of games on the Sunday. :(

I am fully aware that this officially makes me an old fart!

Can't help but think that, if this was 20 years ago, this thread would be buzzing now. :(

Arsenal v Sheffield Wednesday - I doubt it ;)

Seriously though, you're right. It's sad that the FA Cup doesn't get people as excited these days. I feel a hypocrite for saying it though as I'm not really bothered about it much these days unless my team are involved. In days gone by everybody loved it regardless of who was playing.

But that's just it, I'm not really bothered about it either but that doesn't make us hypocrites. It's just the way football has evolved unfortunately.

Well I'm going around to a mates' house for some beers, the FA Cup Final and FIFA with the lads shortly.

It's not quite the same as it used to be. I certainly think they should have it after the PL is over rather than before the last couple of games. It seems particularly harsh for Wigan, who are fighting for PL survival and play Arsenal on tuesday.

Really pleased for Lampard to have equaled Tambling's record of 202 goals (even if 2/3rds of them have been penalties or deflections :D). Absolutely top class player!

Terry off injured. Looks a bad one too.

At least we can have a giggle when he gets kitted up to lift the Europa Cup.

I'm ready to admit that this might just be me but ever since John Kerry became US Secretary of State, I keep mishearing the news bulletins and thinking it says things like "John Terry arrives in Russia to meet Vladimir Putin". I think blimey, he does get involved in all sorts!

It was such a big day before, I'd never miss it. Have not watched the last few, the Man Utd year out, Champions League, playing weakened teams, semi-finals being played thetreand the start of the money flowing to the PL have all contributed to it not being as special as it was.

It certainly should always be the last game of the season though.

Just realised the Cup Final is only on ITV, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse! :bang:

Also, you can't watch ITV live online unlike BBC & Sky.

Pretty sure you can, I've watched the odd Champions League game that way.

Bernstein was on Talk sport the other day saying that moves are afoot to play the cup final after the league fixtures are completed but the late ko will remain

I'm having Steak Pie for tea

Must have been an omen

Well done Wigan !!!!!!

Well I hope you got to see it, because it's a historic win for Wigan.

Well done Wigan, perfect time to score the goal, and I think overall the best team won.

Congratulations Wigan well deserved:)

Poor city team performance but I thought the ref was wigans best player today. IMO it was about the worst final I can remember. Still I'm pretty sure wigan will be the first winners to go down and I think they'll struggle in next years europa league.

I didn't watch it.

I just heard it was 0:0 and was about to go into extra time so stuck the TV on to see Wigan players in a heap having gone 1:0 up.

A great bonus ahead of what will be a special day at OT tomorrow.
