don't you just love american cmmentators. "That's the greatest goal I've seen"

calm down. It was excellent - but it wasnt the greatest goal I've ever seen by a long way. It's not even the greatest icycle kick goal I've ever seen - Wayne rooney's bicycle kick a few seasons ago easily topped it

I did laugh at goal of the decade comment

That bloody Rooney bicycle kick though. So overrated in my opinion. He didn't even kick it with his foot. It flew off his shin and could have gone anywhere. I do agree that there have been better bicycle kicks than Henry's there though, I just don't agree that Rooney's was worth half the kudos he gets for it.

While Rooneys goal was good, it was not great. I also do not rate those 30 yard screamers that highly - If I took 100 shots from 30 yards, at least one or two would fly into the top corner! The goals that i rate are the ones that I could never do, and are typically the RVP type goals, like the one the other day, or his one for us v everton.

Rooney made his mind up a couple of weeks ago apparently.

Rooney leaving was inevitable from the day he signed his new contract.

United would have convinced him to sign a new contract so they could sell him for a higher price as he'd have more time left on this new contract. In return rooney got paid a higher wage to stick around for another few years

How else did they orchestrate such a sudden change of heart from him?

The commentators did make me laugh. Goal of the decade - he can't watch much soccer!

Leading nicely onto Prem goal of the season - for me has to be Mathew Lowton vs Stoke. Great technique to take it on the chest first time and the importance of the goal for Villa too.

I'm sure there will be some RVP fans...

That's a fair assessment.

So where can he go?

PSG as Ibra is going to Juve?
Cant see him going to Barca, or Madrid either?
Suppose Chelsea could be a buyer, or City, but would Man U sell?

So where can he go?
I dont know. I'm just responding to reddragon's thinking that moyes possible appointment has influenced rooney's wish to leave ;)
IF he was to leave, i'd doubt he'd be sold to a Premiership side.

Totally agree about Rooney's overhead kick, spectacular as most overhead kicks are, but technically not very good because as has been said, he shinned it. ;)

I liked the Peter Crouch overhead kick for Liverpool V Galatasaray. And he's done it more than once, but doesn't get the credit for the skills he has/had because of the way he looks. :shake: I love this pic of it. And I've seen another view of it from the other side of the pitch, but I can't find it anywhere. :shake:

Of these '10 Best Ovehead Kicks' here I think Trevor Sinclair's for QPR is my favourite. A happier memory for QPR fans in this trying season. ;)

I think if Rooney wants to go for a 2nd time, let him go and get as much as you can for him. I don't think he's had a great season, and now may be the best time to sell. Who can afford to take him though is another thing. There's talk of a Chel$ki switch. Is Moaninho a fan? I doubt Utd would sell to another English club, but if he wants to go, and kicks up a fuss and no one else is interested.

Yep! But you lot will still have to listen to me harping on every week :)

I just spent the last week down in cornwall and I got a bit fed up with the St Austell Ales in the end. Especially St Austell pubs - they dont seem to allow guest ales so you end up drinking Tribute, trelawny and proper job in every pub.

I went on the SKinners Brewery tour and it was fantastic. I've never been on a brewery tour when they pour you pints for your tasters. As an attendee you are allowed to have seven pints as part of the tour! the ale is superior to st austells in my opinion.

That's the good thing about our pub being privately owned - Brian (the owner) will order a keg of anything you ask him to providing it falls within the right price bracket and isn't anything silly. Greenhalls pubs used to be the worst for no variety.

7 pints sounds like a good tour. I remember (just) having a good tour over at Talisker. They brought trays of the stuff out and I was the only one not driving.

I was at that match where Trevor Sinclair scored that goal - one of the best if not the best goal I have ever seen live.

I've always thought Crouch was better with his feet than his head, but it's easier to just say he is only there for his aerial ability.

Rooney no longer has "Manchester united player" on his twitter. Cue more rumours.

It's official, FIFA have announced on twitter Moyes as the next Man U manager.

Edit: and now FIFA have deleted that tweet. Unusual.

I think it's pretty much a done deal isn't it? Can't see it not being confirmed at some point today.

Looks that way. Perhaps Everton want to announce it first or something.

Quite funny that a press office would publish something on Facebook and twitter and then have to delete it moments later. Someone jumped the gun a little!

You would hope Everton were trying to get themselves the best deal they can. Their manager is wanted by one of the biggest teams in the World, as their number one choice, and Everton need to be compensated accordingly. I doubt they will stand in Moyes way considering what he has done for them, but they need to be paid the going rate. They have to replace him after all.

He's out of contract in 6 weeks...

6 years contract for Moyes at MUFC it is. Interesting times ahead for them!

what could they possibly get for someone who will no longer have a contract with them. would expect moyes is leaving on a free

You're sounding like Cambsno already :P

I'm only kidding ;)

I'm actually pleased with the appointment of Moyes.

Obviously I'll judge him on results but that would be true of anybody.

If the new manager is still there in a few years and he's been successful then I'll be delighted that it was Moyes rather than somebody like Mourinho or Ancelotti.

So was I...you'd have to endlessly criticise all things United for several seasons to even come close :D

Definitely enjoying fergie stepping down. It means I no longer have to listen to the cantankerous old fart week in and week out.

And you're not the only one!

The icing on the cake would be if Benitez became Everton manager. I think he likes the area :D

Rooney being extensively linked with a move to Arsenal for £20m. Not sure I want that to happen to be honest, nor do I believe it plausible!

Don't see it, why move to a club where he can't win things from one of the best in the world.

I would take him like a shot. 20m is a bargain when compared to the likes of gervinho at 11m. Would also rather have him earning 200k per week than paying a collective like gervinho, rosicky& Diaby a similar amount.

I really can't see that happening....would be very interesting if he did though!

I thought Rooney was Munich bound ?

Talksport have been saying that, but i swear they just dive in with wild guesses for bragging rights.

Rooney to Arsenal on 200k a week..... hahahahaha dont make me laugh.

If we were willing to pay that, I'd still have RVP on the back of my shirt.

Financially it's not out of the question give the new PL television revenue and our new kit deal with Puma, which blows our existing deal out of the water and would be the largest in English football (if true - it was first reported by The Mirror).

Given the role he played in ending our 49 match unbeaten run, and many controversies since, I don't think I would ever be happy to see him in an Arsenal shirt. Not to mention the fact he's worth no where near his current salary and I can't see him taking a pay cut!

Rooney back to Everton as a swap deal for Moyes? You just know Billy Liar would have asked that question

Nervous time for us Evertonians now. Billy Liar's human shield has gone and hopefully he'll be gone soon, too!

Re: Fergie. I thought he was going to be like the Pope, only replaced when he popped his clogs. But then 2013 happened. Both Fergie and the Pope retire.

As an Everton fan initially I was disappointed that Moyes was going. But then I look back at Everton's history that I can remember, when Joe Royle was in charge and we were relegation fodder (but we always survived) but we won the FA Cup (more than Moyes did). Moyes has got us into Europe a few times but we've never challenged the later knockout stages. Moyes got us into steady mediocrity. As an Everton fan (rather than a football fan) I much prefer highs and lows, steady mediocrity does nothing for me.

I wish Moyes well for the future, but we've stagnated under him, perhaps he needed more money to kick on?

Interesting. Who would you like to take control now? Are you a Martinez fan or is there someone else you have in mind?
