I'd like McClair to be given a go at it

Mark Hughes is available, him and Bryan Robson would be a great 1-2.

I think it will go moyes to united and then Wigan will get relegated and Martinez will go to Everton.

The Everton fans I know would be happy to lose moyes as they feel he has somewhat stagnated there

Would you want him to go to United?

Not sure! It would not be a good message to send out following RVP and other high profile players. If he was simply sacked, or went to manage France, PSG or something like that it would be ok, but to move to a club in the Prem is damaging.

Depends who we could get too. Jose or Moyes I would love!

Howard Webb at 1000/1 to take over as the next Man U manager on Coral

   I think this has more chance of success compared to the previous options.
First Thatcher dies, then Ferguson retires - somewhere there is a Liverpudlian with a lamp and 1 wish left :D

Mine would be Moyes going there and then getting them relegated, but there's only so much magic could do. ;)

Nice that his final game will be his 1500th, a nice round number to finish on.

Interesting times ahead. Said on the News that a decision will be made by the end of the week. It'll be interesting to see how hands off he can be, especially if things start going wrong.

Talksport saying it's a done deal now. Moyes is off

If it's Moyes (and it looks that way) you'd have to fancy he might take Baines and Fellaini with him. Would certainly strengthen the squad considerably in doing so.

MUFC have seen a 3.5% fall (now 5%, apparently) in share price since trading opened and the announcement made. Somewhat inevitable with such a big change, but you'd expect them to make an announcement about the future quite fast to minimise the losses here.

I think this will be the start of United losing the grip on their domination now that fergie is gone. I think mancini was right when he said that most teams go to play united do so with fear and a lot of that is to do with fergies mind games and intimidation and influence with the refs

Now teams will have a fresh outlook to playing united and I think it will be a big shock. Don't get me wrong, with the outfit they have I'm sure they will still contend for tropheys but I think they will have a tougher time winning them unlike lately when they seem to generally saunter through.

I'm really looking forward to it and pleased as punch the old fart has moved along :clap:

The incoming PL chairman, FA chairman and vice chairman are all reported to be Man United fans so the Fergie Association will still be strong for some time :D

I also imagine he'll have considerable continued involvement so anyone expecting a sudden power shift is probably being overly optimistic/pessimistic (depending who they support).

Liverpool might have a shot at finishing above Everton next season now.

I would doubt that moyes leaving Everton will have any effect on Evertons performances. Liverpool finishing better than they are now is of their own doing.

I thought Ferguson would at least go another year, and maybe announce half way through the season he was going, but I suppose with Stock Markets involved, changes have to be done quickly to try and minimise any negative effects of the value of the stocks.

There are also a few potential candidates suddenly available, Moyes and Moaninho, and maybe Klopp too. I think Moaninho could maybe guarantee success for a few years, but then he may get itchy feet again, and after so many years of stability, you're back to having to change again. Moyes and Klopp could maybe be there long term, 'if' they were to be successful.

And maybe Moyes can finally win away to Arsenal, Chel$ki and Liverpool in the League. ;) He wouldn't have to worry about trying to win away to Utd anymore. ;)

I was shocked when I heard that last week, as I was sure he had won at Utd in the League, and at Arsenal too at some point.

Maybe the longevity manger is to become a thing of the past ....it has't brought Everton any trophies and Arsene Whinger is waning with his recent track record.......... and then there is the Pulis factor (nearly seven years for him!)...

My own take on that retirement news.

On another ref matter, how much did Liverpool pay the FA to disallow Evertons goal? Fine to me!

Bit late for a reply, but not half as much as it cost everton to disallow Liverpools perfectly ON SIDE goal that they were disallowed at goodison. David Moyes didn't say he was fuming that day because the ref got it wrong again.

Apart from a few texts I've been stuck in a conference all day so have missed most of the blurb.

Fergie was always going to step aside at some point. This year, next year, two more years, last year, five years ago, ten years ago - it didn't really matter when and we knew after the long drawn out stepping aside of a few years back, when the time came it would be sorted and swift.

There's no doubting that Fergie has done wonders for the club and the timing is spot on but it had started to become the 'same old same old' year after year for me. Younger fans will remember nothing other than Fergie at United and I'm genuinely excited by what's going on as I was only 16 years old when he took over.

As for who takes over - I said last night when the story was breaking that I've probably changed my mind a dozen times over the last few years.

There's plus points and negative points for everybody that's been linked (Moyes included) and without a crystal ball I'll reserve judgement on the appointment and will look forward to the changes ahead.

Chelsea v Tottenham then.

Can't decide who I'm supporting in this one (proboably shading towards Tottenham) but I'm hanging onto 1st in my comapny FF league by the skin of my teeth so I'm hoping for a couple of players to perform regardless of the result.

Scored by a player who should rightly have been red carded earlier in the game!

Seems that Moyes will be appointed imminently reading reports on Twitter.

Also reading that tickets for SAF's last game at WBA are up for £600-£700 quid!

Good tussle so far but hope Matta or Bale can do something.

I was in hiding

Having said it's in our own hands, Mike Dean takes control of our game vs Wigan so we all know how that ends :(

Think you're ok now

We can guarantee Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal won't all take 6 points each from their remaining games. I just hope it's not us that slips up. If it's Mike Dean that screws us over again I should probably steer clear of the Internet until August.

Odd as it sounds - For all the talk of the CL being crap - it doesn't half keep our league interesting till the end.

Chelsea win would have been better - that way we could afforded to draw a game (assuming Spurs dont win both 7-0). Could have been worse but a draw not great.

 ever the pessimist!

Considering how damaging a spurs win would have been, I'm not unhappy at a draw!

Nah, they will just be getting off on Fergie stepping down and then in about 5 years realise it doesn't affect them lol

Definitely enjoying fergie stepping down. It means I no longer have to listen to the cantankerous old fart week in and week out.

You reckon lol

Anyway, at my pub enjoying St Austell but it's a wishy one - Dartmoor Best. Not my favourite at just 3.5% but with the amount of nips going on for Fergie (lots of folk raising a glass here) it's a suitable side order lol

Yep! But you lot will still have to listen to me harping on every week :)

I just spent the last week down in cornwall and I got a bit fed up with the St Austell Ales in the end. Especially St Austell pubs - they dont seem to allow guest ales so you end up drinking Tribute, trelawny and proper job in every pub.

I went on the SKinners Brewery tour and it was fantastic. I've never been on a brewery tour when they pour you pints for your tasters. As an attendee you are allowed to have seven pints as part of the tour! the ale is superior to st austells in my opinion.
